It’s already made $1B - is it the highest grossing documentary of all time?
anothergaijin
Same. Time to stalk Apple Store pickups every morning until then…

Mine is Sunday 8th of November - seems to be flailing and changing randomly now.

OW probably had some sort of deal to purchase X number of units in advance, hedging on there being demand. They would have sort of stock, then would be in the wholesale queue after that.

Hard to do large-scale vote manipulation on physical paper ballots
anothergaijin
Perhaps that’s not feasible with how big the USA population is?
If only they had more people to count the ballots... oh wait

Annnnd this is why we have licensing and regulations for hotels in the first place

I've tried to make my own firmware updater, and it basically becomes this - check the latest firmware on the FTP server, pull whatever version you need, push it to devices.
Sucks that this is the best we have, and it isn't all that great.

That's intern level work though. If it costs you $500k in API tokens to replace a $300k full-time human programmer, people are going to shift back to regular human work so fucking fast.

No they don't, it's actually very rare for open source products to have long life of updates.
You are kidding right? The internet as we know it is built on some of the longest running open source projects - some started in the 70's even.
Sendmail is still used today for email handling, and that was started in 1983. GNU, GCC, perl, bash, emacs, X, bash are all 80's projects, and pretty much everything else we use is from the 90's like PHP, Apache, FreeBSD, Wine, KDE, gnome, etc.
If you mean software applications, sure, there has never been many that got "big", but the biggest like blender, GIMP, openoffice, Firefox, etc have been around a long time.

Problem is they've made like 30x knockoffs, each one is going to require a year of serious coordinated effort by many people to get it tested and fixed, and without that it'll never get to a level that exceeds existing FOSS offerings in stability and consistency.

It's been fascinating watching from the outside as the United States abandons all of its high ideas and promises for the most scummiest and vile options available.
Once upon a time, US Presidents said things like Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
Wonder if that version of the USA is dead and gone...

I know from experience, in Japan this would maybe cost you $30 or less, unless you needed fillings and wanted something fancier.

End of the day, its easy to make an application that does 95% of the job. It's that last 5% and never ending support that makes a billion dollar product.

Poland, Germany and France have been very vocal about providing more support - with the US out I wouldn't be surprised if there is boots on the ground from all three which would force a ceasefire at a minimum and probably an aggressive push to end hostilities. It would mean Ukraine has still lost a significant amount of its land and some of its people are stuck on the wrong side of the newly drawn lines, but it would give them space to rebuild.

Exactly - this is the greatest way to subvert our expectations. I'm not a huge fan, but I had never heard of V-max, and that big comic readers also were lost, and none of us had any idea what was coming was some fantastic story telling.
One more Spiderman movie after this would end the series beautifully - with a more mature Peter who has gone through hell and is more comfortable and confident.

Why should a business need to make accomodations for parents in general?
Because if you want skilled employees, the business should accommodate for that skill?

Couldn't agree more. The women on my team are all kickass, and of the two who went on maternity leave and came back, the company didn't suffer at all and we were super lucky to have them back again afterwards.

I think it is very useful to do the DNA testing, but there are plenty of cases where a child just has a gene flip, mis-translate or get deleted and they can get something. Sometimes you simply lose the genetic lottery and there is no testing of the parents that can predict that at all.
anothergaijin
Where do you draw the line? Plenty of very serious dna faults cause crippling disabilities or death, or even just very serious conditions - lots of them are the result of a single gene fault like Huntingtons, cystic fibrosis, Fragile X.
Plenty of other things have genetic components and are less deadly and life changing, but still very serious like diabetes. Or you have "manageable" things like myopia.

Countdown to US military doing strikes on Ukraine as retribution for blocking Russian fuel exports
What a fucked up timeline we live in - Boris Johnson having the guts to visit wartime Kiev while the US actively tries to fuck Ukraine over.
Don't forget China
