It's hard to say, because there are no reliable historical data to compare with. Until recently, being openly transgender would have gotten you killed, so anyone who was trans kept it a closely guarded secret. Same with gay, bi, and so on.

That's like complaining that Y2K was much ado about nothing. The reason it was much ado about nothing is that a shit-ton of people did a shit-ton of work to fix the bugs before the end of the year, precisely because everything would blow up if they didn't. But instead of giving these programmers credit for preventing a disaster, uninformed people instead talk as though no disaster was ever forthcoming.

Same thing here. Greenhouse gas emissions have been slowing down, precisely because people foresaw the disaster that unchecked global warming will cause, and took action. This has softened the blow of global warming and delayed its worst effects. Instead of celebrating this minor victory over one of the greatest threats humanity has ever faced, however, you're on here pretending the threat doesn't exist! And unlike Y2K, this disaster hasn't even been averted, only delayed.
