Can you elaborate why it's a good choice?

Salute to Hyderabad!

arka87

Or as Babasaheb said .... "Educate! Agitate! Organise!"! Jai Bhim!

arka87

I freakin love this slogan!

arka87

I couldn't sleep

arka87

Exactly! They're giving bad name to the whole anti-CAA/NRC movement

arka87

Correction... "Hari Puttar" /s

arka87

Looks like Rakitic doesn't even want to play!

arka87

Great advice! kudos for your achievements!

arka87

True mate! IMO this is a systematic narrative that Public entity = bad, inefficient, loss making. You destroy PSUs, public healthcare and education and ensure red carpet welcome to private entities. By that logic we should sell the govt first!

arka87

I would beg to differ. As I see it, BSNL is systematically downplayed to the advantage of corporate telecoms, what else can explain no 5G spectrum to BSNL and MTNL. In initial years BSNL made huge profits too. This is not to claim that there are no lazyass employees at BSNL, but IMO inefficiency spreads top-down, and you know who are at the top.

arka87

Yes, you have to give that to them.

I don't understand economics.

In that case you make sweeping judgement based on lack of understanding.

Has it really solved anything?

Actually it has. Banerjee and Duflo run J-PAL which work with governments around the globe in designing ans executing policies for health, education and poverty related issues. It is also the reason why they got the prize many years after they actually put out the theory.

I have been told that liberalizing the markets played a vital role in boosting the economy in 1990. Centrally organized socialist policies proved to be an obstruction for India's growth and also became pathway to authoritarianism (example: Indira Gandhi and Stalin).

This, IMO, is very black n white opinion to have. I know many on this sub will disagree with me on this, but both socialism and capitalism has their merits and demerits. Socialism has had its own share of problems, but when you say things like above, you ignore the massive crises that capitalism has faced time and again in history and capitalism has resorted to change itself and take socialist like policies to get out of those. It has also led to extreme inequalities.

"It is true that we who are not poor are somewhat better educated and informed, but the difference is small because, in the end, we actually know very little, and almost surely less than we imagine".... Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee & Esther Duflo ( Poor Economics, page 68)

arka87

Read his work. He along with others, uses experimental approaches to solve not so macro level questions like "does policy X really help in solving a poverty related problem Y?". He hasn't got the prize for something experimental. Also, from when does being anti-market disqualifies one from getting Nobel?

Though I love and usually have freshly ground and brewed coffee, I also keep a stock of instant coffee for some practical purposes. And yes Continental is way better than nescafe. I got a good deal from amazon or something few months back.

arka87

Cannot endorse this more...

arka87

How do you know? source?

arka87

:-) I get it. Missed the sarcasm sign

arka87

Can you explain?

arka87

He's not a journalist, he's a world renowned economist.

arka87

The fountainhead: political funding!

arka87

It's more like "as long as it's convenient for me, I don't care about even future me"!
