I second haas we have had good luck there too

axman_21

I like big burls and I cannot lie

axman_21

Dont say it too soon. You are in an area with oak wilt so it could still easily get it

axman_21

No one here has seen a young tree of heaven. They are almost all like this for the first few years. The marks others are saying are pruning marks are where the old leaves were from the previous years

axman_21

You get half as much heat from cotton per cord. Its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Sure you need twice as much but when you can get tons of it then it more than makes up for the difference. Plus like in this situation why wouldn't you use it since you already have to cut it up anyway

axman_21

Where do you live where you have never seen a hollow tree? If you have never seen a hollow on then you must nit be around trees much.

Edit. With the downvotes im convinced more engagement here is bots than actual people. The fact that people dont think trees can be hollow is absurd

The biggest issue with ai is that is has destroyed computer markets and also get shoved into everything. With all the other things like Amazon and streaming that is a choice. What is not a choice if for us to have everything have ai put in it and forced to use it or to have ai security cameras pop up everywhere. There is a video on YouTube at a casino in Vegas where an ai security system had someone arrested for misidentifying someone as a guy who hot trespassed from the casino. you want know what the cops did instead of use their brains even after seeing the guy wasnt him by his id? They still believed the ai and said he was just using a fake id to try to get in. The other biggest problem with ai is its taking any kind of thinking skills away because people will just ask it and them believe it without even checking its sources. The sources it comes up with more times than not are comments from forums or social media instead of credible sources. So as a whole it is dumbing down everyone who uses it all the time. If you cant see that then you have bigger problems. Im not saying Amazon or other large corporations are good but at least they are more helpful than something that has wasted billions on billions on destroying whole tech markets, communities and power and water grids to still not be anything great. Open ai lost nearly $40 billion last year alone and that's just the company thats not accounting for all the other loses for the people environment, whole markets like the consumer computer parts or utility grids it is wreaking havoc on. Many ram manufacturers have switched to focusing on the ai market over the consumer market and so has Nvidia as well. They dont care at all for the consumers anymore its all about ai now and just making the bare minimum for consumers

The wood is nor rot resistant but if you keep it alive then it will take longer since there will still be live wood that isnt actively decaying. The best thing to do here is to grind out the stump if you want new trees. These won't ever become anything to note in your area due to them not being great there to begin with and what has already been dont to the tree

axman_21

Agreed dont do either because both of the other suggestions are examples of what not to do to trees

axman_21

The soil in Colorado is alkaline and they do not do well in it without extra care and fertilizer. With this one already being coppiced and the fact that you have the wrong soil type it will not do well. While siver maples will grow back after being coppiced it is not great due to them decaying fast so the new growth that is already weaker due to being suckers will also have decay before too long to weaken it even further

I mean im not making an ass out of myself for stating that it is an invasive plant in the states and that 70 to 80% of the people here that have seen my comments are from the states. For some reason reddit want to just show these over and over so I figured id just comment on some because bamboo shouldn't be planted like it is here due to being invasive. It would be like posts of highly invasive plants to your area getting put on your feed and people just blindly saying its rhe best plant ever all while you know gow bad that plant is in your location. Again it should be a requirement to post your location on subs with plants that are highly invasive in many areas to help keep them from being spread even more. But hey you can act like it isn't a well known problem for us in the states but your opinion doesnt change the fact that many bamboo species are invasive here. And hey you can call me an ass if you want for actually caring about the ecosystem in our country. More people around the world really need to since most dont give a shit about it or what damage they cause to it

axman_21

Just get it ground out and replace with something more suited to your environment. Silver maples do terrible in Colorado and this one has already been butchered so it will not do well even in shrub form due to being overly stressed from the environment and the constant pruning

axman_21

I said it the way I did because over 70% of the people who saw my comment are from the states so again tell me how telling the majority of the people seeing this that it is an invasive to them when it is one here is the problem. Thats also why I said in another comment that people need to put a location on their post on such a well know invasive in many parts of the world.

axman_21

Has it always had the lean? It looks like it grew that way. A tree that is leaning isnt always a problem especially if that is how it grew. I would just notch the fence and let it be

axman_21

I just dont see why they would have it in a class you need if you wont ever use it. That is what im having issues with. If you truly will never use it then it shouldn't be in the class. The army sound like they really dont have their shit together at all. Machining and welding aren't something you just say hey here is a tiny bit to go on so mow you are good

axman_21

I mean you are the one wanting to not be serious about a trade that is inherently dangerous and trying to downplay it. At the end of the days its all your choice but just know like me and many others have said there is no easy way to cheat the system on machining. You can act like you can but in reality you can't

axman_21

I mean it will ve fine until you are under pressure to make a part then you will be rethinking it. Anyone in the machining field will tell you that amd how bad the setup is that they have going for yall

axman_21

From what it sounds like rhey shouldn't be teaching yall at all. If they dont have enough people to teach you right then no one is learning anything and it makes everything snowball out of proportion. I say that because I know the short hand side of it but that doesnt mean we cut corners and dont cover or teach what we need. Its not about getting you out and on to the next set of students. That is a flawed system yall have there because many times on machining people have to take a class multiple times because if we dont feel like they are ready to move on or can do it safely it not gonna fly. If you are juat going to be cutting grass why do you even need this at all? If you are going in a position where they want you to have machining then you are likely going to have to do it at some point. Just learning as you go in the field is a very shitty way of getting people hurt and breaking shit too. I guess the army is that backasswards on stuff. As for the grandmother situation if it were me id just leave and take the time with her and redo the class later. Family is definitely more important and I will never say it isnt on stuff like that for sure. If you do retake the class look into order of operations tooling and overall lathe programming because it is quite different than the mill. Im saying all this as someone who has taught and been in the field for awhile that you cant fake it til you make it. That just gets you in trouble or hurt because machines are dangerous and if you dont know what you are doing things get expensive fast or you get hurt. I dont care if its something you think you wont ever use again in your life you dont just mess around with cnc or other machines and hope to make it or not get hurt

axman_21

Mildew from bigs but the biggest problem is its a tree of heaven that is highly invasive and should be cut down

axman_21

If you are in a class where you are having to make these then you are likely to have to make similar later on in that field. If not then they wouldn't be getting you to do it. You are trying to get a shortcut on something you cant really get a shortcut on because of what all it takes. Anyone over you on this project will be able yo tell it wasnt you that did it without help if you are magically able to without any help form the instructor. Machining isnt something you can fake it until you make it because you can get yourself or others hurt or killed or damage really expensive equipment. This is one of those situations no matter what you are doing after you need to do right to mot make yourself look bad because its very easy to spot when someone is not the ones who did the work. You daid its for 91e which literally has machining be part so you might not think you need to know what you are doing but if your job literally has machining in the specific one you listed in your post then id definitely learn how to do basic parts like this

axman_21

Ai has its helpful places like you said on specific control problems or cad software but the part i was talking about was this person wanting someone else or possibly ai to assist them with a project in a class they they are paying for that is supposed to teach them how to do stuff. Its jist not a good idea to cheat themselves put of the learning opportunity and it will only come back to bite them later when they are in the field and dont have a clue what they are doing. The best advice for them is for them to do it and ask their instructor what they need to get the project done. If not it will be clear to that instructor that they got help from elsewhere because people dont just magically know how to do a whole set up what tools speeds and feeds, how to run the latge or program it right off the rip. We had many people not pass our class due to doing similar stuff to what op did here because we know it isnt something someone just has click and the second follow up test proves that when we catch them doing it

axman_21

Ai is still not a great tool for alot in machining ive tried it multiple times juat to see and more times than not it would have led to crashes or bad parts if I didnt know what I was doing. We dont know their intentions but trying to speed up a project in class when they have no idea what to do from the start says it all. As a shop owner that has seen it alot from fresh students when they come in and show that they have the cert but know hardly anything about making a part to also when I helped teach the local class at college. I saw students try stuff like this all the time and when I could tell they did something like this out of nowhere or way too fast I would give them another similar project right after as a test to see if it was actually them that did it or not. More times than not they would all say they did it with the help of ai or others to just try to get past the project as quickly as possible its juat one of the common things students do to try to get out if them being the ones to do the project. If you know what you are doing its also easy to spot when someone is just following prompts from ai ir general lists others have gave them when trying to do something like this without them actually learning or doing it themselves

axman_21

Exactly. This is they type of person that makes the certificates and schooling not mean jack shit for the majority of shop owners looking for employees. Too many now just try to get someone else to get them by enough to pass then get out in a job and have no clue what to do. As a shop owner ive seen it many times where on paper they look great but in practice they are terrible

axman_21

This is one of the situations where rushing it will get you nowhere. You need to understand what it takes to make a part on a lathe and the order of operations and tools required. Just getting someone to try to get you by it now without learning the process will only make things worse for you in the future

axman_21

An alt to what exactly? I dont think you have a clue what you are talking about lol
