I also know where you are coming from, today we get a lot more coverage in our hands and from social media. But the news back then werent bad and I was already a junkie at 14 or so, with btx (German name for a system you had at a time before the Internet to call a server and get information) and later on online of course. And newsgroups. I was quite informed. And my parents always joked, that I might not get half of the news, as I didn't understand their terminology and so on. But they wanted me to get this. I mean, they encouraged me to read the morning papers with them, when I started to read or told me some things from it. And when I was ... 6 years old? Or maybe 8, they allowed me to watch the news with them before bed. Basically around 6 or 7 pm there was the kids show you could watch as "end of day thing", a short one called sandman. Every day. And I was one of the few that were allowed to stay awake a bit longer (ready for bed), if I wanted, to watch the news.

Dunno if this is a German thing, but it's the daily show (Tagesschau) starting at point 8pm to 8.15pm. They give an overview over all what's happened and still runs today. And still one of the main news sources and most trusted ones here. No matter if far left or far right. And that's something today.

I mean, I was happy as a kid, because I could be awake longer. Don't remember much from that time, but the day after they opened the borders between West and east Germany. I'm sure I couldn't really grasp what how important and awesome that was, but I remember my parents being ... Different then usual about it and the people they showed were dancing on a wall and all were so happy.

The 90s also had some ... different vibe. At least in my local bubble. New tech, massive improvements, the Internet, mp3 and so on. We already had greed, dotcom etc. But REALLY not as bad as today's shit show. The population, income and wealth was way more balanced. For this case with CIG, you would need to proof, that they blocked the cancellation and it wasn't an issue with your system or something else. And you didn't sign some kind of EULA that prevents you from cancelling, because there is a 3 month period you need to honour. As an example - I didn't check anything with CIG or the current issue. And this is not easy. Especially if you just say it didn't work and you do a cash back. The better way would be to send them an mail and give them the appropriate time to fix the issue and refund your payment. That's also part of the law - you need to give them time. A chance to fix something. Yes, the other way is easier, at the first look, but you can get in trouble for it and might need to pay additional fees or whatever. I mean, in most cases they will void the fees and close it down, but other companies might send it to collection / court.

And as I said, if you charge back the money, if will get send to the credit score institutions and might impact your score. Right away.

Der Unterschied ist aber, dass hier Gefahr in Verzug war. Am sinnvollsten ist es das über die Feuerwehr zu machen, die haben einen Generalschlüssel. Der alles aufbekommt. Wenn der genug Zeit hat einen Schlüsseldienst zu rufen, dann war die Gefahr nicht gegeben. Für den Vermieter ist es aber auch generell besser die Feuerwehr oder Polizei zu rufen, selbst wenn er selbst in die Wohnung einbrechen muss. Alleine schon wegen Beweisführung und auch gegenüber der Versicherung :)

German here - would someone be so nice and explain, what is going on with those bags? TJ is Aldi Nord/North here. Das war aber auch ein Bündel von Sachen und der Kollege stand schon seit einem Jahr davor wegen Volksverhetzung oder so in Verdacht / unter Beobachtung.

Strafbefehl ging auch wegen Volksverhetzung/verbotene Kennzeichen, nicht wegen der Beleidigung, die eh fallen gelassen wurde. Und die Hausdurchsuchung war nicht von Habeck angeordnet worden, er hat nur Anzeige gestellt und die Staatsanwaltschaft/ Richter haben dann entschieden was passiert.
