Well, shit. I had seen a few things secondhand from facebook implying a physical gathering, and had given them credence because the whole idiotic riot-coup had been organized that way. But now that I'm looking, it seems that idea was probably just random crackpots spreading things around. The plan now seems to be to hold a virtual "second inauguration" for the benefit of the MAGAcult. So... Yep, I'm full of it. And there seems to be significantly less danger of another directed riot.

That's exactly what it is. He's planned his own gathering at the same time. Probably not far away. Likely there will be another rabblerousing "speech", and he'll point them at the inauguration the exact same way he pointed them at Congress as they were certifying the election.

Lose a spouse; Stoicism says that you shouldn't be upset because you can't do anything about it. But that does nothing to allow you to move on. Pretending it didn't happen instead of grieving properly, not allowing the hurt to get out of you through that natural process, is objectively bad for your emotional and mental wellbeing. Trust me. I know.

Stoicism is like alchemy, or Freuds theories; they're outdated, they're narrow-minded, they are built on a fundamental misunderstanding of their material.
