My god what is left for capitalism to take from us! I’ve spent this year repairing my pelvis from sitting behind a desk for 15 years, only to now learn oh great this is why I can’t get a boner too?!? What the hell.

Mods pls don’t delete I’m being serious lol

If I were running for office…

I think I’d start by just acknowledging reality:

- as Bill Gates said the other day, business leaders and governments are asleep at the wheel when it comes to ai-associated labor displacement [this is what I’m experiencing]
- per our own US history, after a period of wealth extraction and de-regulation, we typically respond with large-scale social welfare/mobility programs (New Deal, Civil Rights Act, and whatever led to Labor Day lol)
- wealth inequality and the debt service-ification of basic rights (education, housing) coupled with rampant consumerism (klarna, cc debt ratio) and gambling has replaced the path to a durable future / moving up Maslow’s hierarchy for many

We can’t even have an honest convo in this country at the national level bc it would require admitting we sold our country to elites and are paying the price - yet again, for like the fourth time. That said, clearly that means we’ll rebound on our own as the population figures out what the new equilibrium is.

But for people like me - ptsd, anxiety, burnout, long-term unemployed - the deal the US is offering is looking a lot less appealing compared to other countries.

this sub strikes again 😩

This was my tipping point. I’m leaving. We do not have a critical mass of resistance (yet?) and historical precedents for the speed with which he’s moving are.. nil.

I don’t think calling our congresspeople is gonna do it anymore… this is the rubicon[1].
