It is puzzling to me why one would spend 3 hours on a mission when Increase Sim Rate exists. Makes the boring part actually interesting
beders
You can use the built in flight recorder and after a landing go back in time in the recording and resume from there
beders
Let’s make it more controversial: open it up for EVs only
beders
If you are concerned about flight duration, there’s a super handy dandy Increase Sim Rate and Decrease Sim Rate that will make longer hauls fit any time budget

Only for willfully ignorant people is this still a „mystery“.
The simple answer is: no brain = no consciousness. While we don’t understand in detail how the brain operates or if its operations are computable (as in Turing computable), there’s no consciousness without it.
The transporter creates a copy and only hand wavy techno babble prevents it from being a device to create as many copies as you wish.

They run the same tools.
We just dealt with a bunch of issues reported by Mythos - conveniently they included code on how to fix these vulnerabilities.
beders
Of course it is possible to fix those bugs. The same tool used to find them can also provide the code to fix them.
Safety has always been a matter of cost. Mythos and others change the cost equation dramatically.
The arms race between attackers and defenders has entered a new era.
A much more costly one.

I always thought it was a microwave relay station ;)

sure, buddy, a power generation technology with almost 1% failure rate for commercial reactors is just fear mongering. Oh, these young people, honestly.

first, you got your numbers wrong and second a NPP didn't have to mean using more coal. That could have been avoided. That was the mistake. Not the nuclear exit.
And don't you dare deny unacceptable risks if you weren't around when Chernobyl went fuckity-bye. I was there. I saw it first hand.
And we are still plagued by this absolutely stupid technology. All it would take is one trigger happy low-level Russian commander to blow up Zaporizhzhia's nuclear power plant. The biggest in Europe. We came very very close to this horrible scenario in the last few years. We are lucky that the predominant winds are westerly, blowing the fallout into the motherland.
Fission is stupid technology to heat up water. It needs to be shut down and replaced with actual renewable energy. Keep uranium, gas and coal in the ground.
beders
You can’t imagine it because it is not a thing. Those ticking time bombs were operated by companies - not Germany.
Subsidies to deploy renewables in Germany is money well spent.
Nuclear is stupid technology that comes with unacceptable risks - something Germans understood and have shown political will to get rid of that risk.
beders
That is indeed a problem for which I'm not sure we have a solution.

It works fine for me. I do however read the spec and tell it to fix non-sense. Opus on XHigh hasn't disappointed me yet. But I have decades of software development experience and won't allow bullshit specs or PRs.
beders
Claude Opus can write phenomenal specs including links to existing code.
It’s a net benefit. Not only can I get agreement from the team but whenever a requirement changes the specs gets updated.
It’s a net win as specs provide shortcuts for other related changes.

The moment we say: software-designed virus the threat magically goes away….

Ok. It’s not „economists“. It’s The

Turning an in-process call to a network call is never an implementation detail.
You want complete control over that network call. Can it be re-tried? When does it time out? Do I need a circuit breaker around it?
Is MethodX idempotent?
Only whoever implements MethodX can tell you.
The gains of adding syntactic sugar over a method invocation are not worth it.

I would love to see a transition to a player run economy - ship and module manufacturing - tying mining, trading and maybe even exo into a loop.
Give player made modules/ships a bonus - based on quality of raw mats and manufacturing sites.
Add in a repair/replacement layer so there’s an outflow to the economy other than ships exploding.

If you want to keep playing Elite, support the devs by buying some ARX. Let’s make it an forever game
beders
They would be stupid not to. At least for coding. Claude Opus 5.5 is amazing.

HOTS does this well and gives remaining players some control over the bot.
That said, they aren’t too clever and the game is an L often

Worms have been around since the beginning of the internet.
Lots of smart home devices have - shall we say - mediocre software to protect against such attacks.
That said: if all our devices would be that easy to infiltrate the Russians or Chinese would have done it decades ago.
Realism? Hahaha lol. Sure buddy.
