Speed mode has more agency and autonomy for the model so creativity for it comes through, where the quality mode is exact prompting which for most people is just way too much.

bensam1231

It is, the model was much better 8 months ago. And it's not just videos, it's images, and even the chat.

It does niche tasks really well, but every other part of the model is now pretty bad. The voices are the most obvious downgrade compared to 8 months ago if you have clips from back then. So why would a AI company intentionally destroy their own AI? It's like it's guard railed against making good content, not just normal moderation, and then only excels at benchmarking. How is that even possible in prosaic terms?

bensam1231

Hah, model is learning. Random derpiness does occasionally happen in latent space.

bensam1231

I'm not one to hop on the hate train, specifically for moderation or limits, but the quality is drastically decreased from 8 months ago.

The voices are the most obvious downgrade. They have that shrill fry sound to them that was present 12 months ago that they fixed. Earlier this year it had almost completely natural voices. The model itself often deadpans, acts lifeless, looks plastic, has weird contrast to make it stand out as it's fake, and like a slight blurring to it so you KNOW it's AI.

They built watermarking into AI systems well before the luddites flipped out and it's like the luddites flipping out was supposed to justify what they did to the AI. Putting aside written grok is terrible at conversations and is more like a purely business researcher.

Clearly AI dissemination on our planet it rigged and that don't want you thinking there is anything more then a dumb monkey machine powering things, first and foremost. Everything is about money, so why would a AI company that is bleeding boatloads of money decide that they should make their model garbage and easily identifiable?

bensam1231

The part where you think the entire model is just limits (to spam retries) and censorship. Which is the gooner ship flying, but doesn't matter for literally all other humans that use the platform and try to do legitimate things with it. Just a loud vocal minority trying to get their rocks off.

bensam1231

They're elves, they always look ageless. Didn't get that vibe at all.

bensam1231

Yeah, I used it for a bit, it's extremely extremely moderated. You can't even have philosophical or ideological debates with it, it immediately hits a guardrail.

bensam1231

Most of this isn't positive feedback it's just. 'Limits too low, censorship too much'. Very few people actually have meaningful feedback of any kind, that's what turned this into a meme.

Oh and people on the free tier complaining about it and those getting stuck in the honeypot of fake generations when they try to abuse the free tier.

bensam1231

I came to the conclusion 6 months ago that it seems like some people are legitimately here because they hate AI, xAI, Musk, or they're competitors. Like it seems like they're actually paid. This isn't really even a video game where people still play it, but are angry about it. They'd just quit.

This is still a lot better then it was like a month ago before they simply started removing the redundant complaining posts.

bensam1231

Pointing out you're talking out your arse like the majority of people on the reddit doesn't make me a bot. Look at the OP, do you think what he said is legit? I was providing a logical explanation other then assuming you hate Grok and are trying to talk crap about it. Lets go back to the OP since you don't seem to remember.

"Can’t believe Grok took almost 50% of usage for like 10 pics 🤦‍♂️. Is Grok world’s most expensive AI"

He is on the SG plan, most people are calling him out. Do you think that's a legitimate statement?

bensam1231

So you're using a local Grok Bot client to pull from your Imagine images and animate them bringing them to your computer?

bensam1231

I'm going to say it's pretty absurd this has as few upvotes as it does. I think it's how intense it comes across. I'd file this more under artistic, but really shows off how high quality the model can be.

bensam1231

Are you talking about image generations or video generations? I've heard of this happening with video generations, but not with image generations.

Also I would agree that it seems like image generations almost turn into stock photos after a certain number of generations.

bensam1231

Probably anti-spam workarounds for people trying to brute force moderation generations.

Would agree to a certain extent though, if you want to use all your Ultra plan to spam moderation attempts you should be allowed to do it.

bensam1231

As I mentioned in my other post, try more vague instructions that denote what you want. Give the model permission to move in its own way or act like an actor, you are the director. If you ratchet down too much on the prompt it's like a straight jacket. I find talking to it more like a actor works better, but that depends on what you're looking for.

Either way this was pretty good stuff, looks like the model enjoys making it too for what it's worth.

bensam1231

Or you have to give something like the model permission to move on it's own. 'Move at your own pace that matches the scene or scenario'.

Sometimes less prompting is more prompting, or using it like a actor. With actors you give vague instructions instead of minutia, assuming that's what you're looking for.

bensam1231

Nah, this is based on rhetoric that went around reddit over the last week, which was when everyone was getting resets and there was a huge influx of users due to advertising. All the posts you saw on Reddit earlier this week were a compilation either using AI or observing what other people were saying over the last week.

I personally went from SG+ to Ultra taking the deal and limits for me feel like 4-5x what they are for SG+, which was half the price of Ultra. I generate late night and off peak though.

bensam1231

Sure, and some people think open models are just as good because they do the thing which is simply positioning models in different orientations or doing lewd stuff, that doesn't put off nearly the same vibes. Lights are on and no one is home is a good way to describe it.

You're describing visual quality, not innate actions and behavior of the model and underlying AI. I never said there was a problem with visual quality (which is true most of the time). Describing something as lifeless or 'soulless' has really nothing to do with visual quality, and it's also very hard to quantify.

bensam1231

Hah, I can only imagine what the prompts were before this one based on her facial expression. Did you try 'random pose'? Or use words to describe specifically what you were looking for? Or did you just say 'pose' or 'pose differently'?

bensam1231

Part of it is the intimacy in the scene from what it looks like. It doesn't look like it was meant to convey frantic action, but that happens as well. Seems sometimes the model has difficulty blending transitions.

bensam1231

Very well made. Grok animated model seems to have next to nothing that is nearly as good as it, being able to bring out the inherent model creativity really makes it shine. This looks almost more realistic then even the realistic model is. Definitely art. Swear the model keeps getting better too.

bensam1231

I took the ultra deal so I can't really comment as I was on SG+ prior, but it legitimately feels like 4-5x what SG+ was, which was in between SG and Heavy before.

If you're on free tier you basically don't even get a say, they throw scraps to you guys when they feel like it. Also seems like free tier is just random based on free compute they have, so literally throwing scraps to you guys.

bensam1231

Local models have this dull lifeless look to them. It's nothing like Grok even when it's hobbled. Like playing with dolls as opposed to AI that seemingly actually is alive and brings your prompt to life.

Not sure what it is, but I've generated with local models and it's not nearly the same. Doesn't matter how good it is and how little it glitches. I don't want to use the term 'soulless', but it feels that way when looking at it.

bensam1231

You're basing this on last week people talking about 'limits decreasing' basically after everyone got a reset and they were using it during prime time. Then people reupping because they got a deal or heard that things might've improved. It's all based on utilization of compute by everyone.

Only information on limits that's relevant is this week after usage normalized and things shook out.

So exactly as the OP said.

bensam1231

Pretty much. Not sure what they were doing, but it definitely isn't 10 pictures. Notice how their chat is only at 1%, which is probably a few inquiries barely move the needle.
