You gotta seize the opportunity && pointy-haired boss will never realize.

Well well well, it's a "genossenschaften", so low/no tax, but they buy products from exclusive suppliers (like Emmi), those suppliers buy the products (milk) from the producers, makes all the processing and the marging and sells it high enough so the genosensschaft does not make a profit.

But Emmi (and others) are publicly traded and, well, it went through the roof: https://group.emmi.com/che/en/media-investors/share-price

It's the pharmaceutical companies doing the profits. The insurance are just the conveyor. They have a special price for the Swiss market and the insurance companies play along, also the politicians make sure their campaign are funded and the price increase is mostly tolerable. Same with tobacco, you don't want smokers to stop smoking.

If you have a website, your hosting company has most likely handled the situation. If your administer your own server and do not have auto-updates, now is still a good time.

As they control most of their providers and Migros is a non-profit, the profit margins are kept upstream.

billcube

For non-local products, like Zweifel chips, had each region its own contracts, no central dispatch ? If so, there was at least some potential of gaining efficiency. Sorry for the head zweifel procurement manager for west-Aargau.

See Lindt.

billcube

Because it will make Migros products cheaper, right? Right?

billcube

My local Migros totally gave up on displaying the prices. It's nothing on the package, and "see package" in the shelves.

billcube

Same with SBB: "We didn't have any incident on that part of the system, let's get rid of the maintainer as he's clearly useless"

Were products handled for each region? How many people do you need to source "local" products? Most of the contracts are multi-years, the providers do not change from year to year, only the prices and quantities, as it seems.

Logistics, you still need to move stuff around, the shops are still there, one trucker cannot somehow work 10x as much.

billcube

I do not understand the numbers. Going from 10 Migros region to only 1 means getting rid 3000 full-time employees? That's about 300 persons per region that were duplicated 10 times? What were the titles of these jobs? Head of Tomatoes for the Geneva region? They would do that full time and confer with the other 9 head of tomatoes?

A PHP memory exhaustion leaves many logs, no way the cows got out the barn silently.

No, you're confounding with the covid measures. During G7, there were extra checks but no "priority system". Two border control posts were reserved for essential people with authorisations but that was it. ( https://www.ge.ch/actualite/g7-obtenir-macaron-21-05-2026 )

A burglar with a French passport would go through all border checks, even during G7.

We didn't celebrate the end of it. We didn't have a big liberation day, an official end to the sanitary measures. So we're like not sure if it is really gone or if it might come back any moment.
