I asked ChatGPT once, here is what it told me:
The term “tater” in the whiskey community is actually not a compliment—it’s a bit of tongue-in-cheek slang used to describe certain types of whiskey enthusiasts, especially those who: * Chase hype bottles (e.g., Buffalo Trace products like Blanton’s, Pappy Van Winkle, etc.) regardless of taste or quality. * Buy whiskey just for the label or rarity, not to drink it. * Post flashy bottle shots on social media. * Use whiskey terms or rituals they don’t fully understand, often parroting reviews or tasting notes.
Origins:
The exact origin of “tater” is murky, but it likely comes from a joking insult—as in someone who doesn’t really know what they’re doing is a bit of a “potato.” Over time, it became whiskey slang for hype-chasers and Instagram flexers.
Example Usage: * “This liquor store is full of taters buying Blanton’s for $200.” * “That guy’s got 10 bottles of Eagle Rare and no idea how it tastes.”
So when people say “a tater bottle,” they usually mean a whiskey that’s popular with taters, not necessarily that it’s bad—but that it’s over-hyped or overvalued by collectors more than drinkers.

My only expertise here is a pretty severe two year disassociative burnout. So I may be wrong and you should trust your doctors. But, my understanding is disassociation is a stress thing. As a fellow GenX and recently diagnosed, much of my lifetime of stress can be attributed to my undiagnosed neurodiversity. Disassociating was how I coped. Other folks cope in other ways, but this is how I survived.
Again, non-expert here. I don’t think disassociating is necessarily due to ADHD, but your need to disassociate is likely caused by the stress of having ADHD. Hope that makes sense.

I play on both consoles and strongly prefer the Elite controller. I use a CronusMAX to use an Elite controller on the PS4.
