Hi folks. I get loads of questions sent to me via PM's, comments & emails on different aspects of building an aquaponics system. A lot of the answers to these questions can be found in various clips I have uploaded to our "How to build an Aquaponic System" playlist on YouTube. In this clip I take you quickly through some of the clips on the playlist & hope that some of them can help you out. Hope you enjoyed the clip & your aquaponics systems are booming. Cheers all, Rob

Hi there folks. I've been asked by a number of people where I learnt about aquaponics. To help these folks out I've compiled a list of a few of the fantastic free resources that are out there and complied it into a handy PDF download that you can keep for future reference. It includes links to aquaponically focused YouTube channels, Facebook groups, forums, websites, and a few FREE downloads that are jam packed with helpful information & ideas.
It would be great to see folks have a crack at building their own & sharing the veggies & fish they grow.
Hope you enjoyed the clip & your gardens are booming.

Aquaponic System - Harvesting Fish & Decoupling the System Hi Folks. Time for a bit of an update on how the fish are recovering as well as a look at the plant side of the system. Decided to share some plans we have for the system & also some information on an online aquaponic course I’m looking forward to attending this year. Managed to squeeze in a look at the 22 fish that were harvested from one of the tanks too. Cheers all

Nice looking build 👍 You running it as a constantly flooded bed?

Cheers mate.

Here's a better look at the fin rot I found on the silver perch this week & a look at the steps I've taken to help protect them from any further issues. It's been 4 days since the fish in this clip was dispatched & the one crook one I showed towards the end is still doing OK. Hope this helps anyone that finds themselves in a similar situation. Rob.

Was filming a clip for Patreon on the trench composting method I've been using & it sort of grew into an update on the back of the property, aquaponics & banana trees in the root pouches. Have included a look at a new nursery project I have on the go as well as a look at some furry visitors we've been getting in the patch as well. Hope you enjoy the clip & that your gardens are all doing well. Rob

Had a few issues with the fruit flies again so thought I share with you some tactics we use to try & keep them from destroying our crops. Hope the clip helps some & that your pest free gardens are booming. 😉 Cheers all.

Hi Folks. Here's a look at the perennials we have growing around the patch in our small backyard farm. Have included a list in the description of the perennials that didn't make it into the clip. Would love to know what your favourite perennial food plants are that you're growing or would like to grow in the comment section below. Hope you enjoyed the clip & your garden is booming. Cheers all.

Planted out 4 edible Ginger varieties into the new wicking bed & a few into the aquaponics this week so thought I’d bring you all along for a look. Along with the normal ginger I popped out some finger root, Kencur & a variety I was told is Cambodian ginger. We also have a few other gingers around the patch but I'll show them in a clip later on. Hope you enjoy the clip & your patch is booming.

A bit of an update on the aquaponic system now were coming to the end of Spring here in SE QLD Australia. Had to do a bit of a clean out due to some pesky grubs but other than that I’m very happy with most of the plants & am chuffed with how the fish are going. Hope your systems & gardens are booming.

Planted out some turmeric into one of the new wicking beds this week. 7 pieces of root rescued from a bed being removed for the new chook pen made it into the bed. Am thinking we'll should be able to "Bandicoot" out some fresh root from this bed come may or June of 2017. Hope you enjoy the clip & that your own gardens are booming. Rob.

Thanks :)

Kira & I made a self water wicking bed/sub irrigated planter out of a stock tank this week and though I'd bring you along for a look. Have included some ideas that might help you out when it comes to setting up your own. Cheers all.

Am hoping that we can grow tilapia here at some point. They look like a great fish to grow & would do really well in our climate I think.

The media in the pouch will still be processing the nutrients as it would in the beds 👍 Have grown a few tomatoes & a jalapeno in root pouches in our system & they all have done well.

Thanks :)

Cheers 👍

Set up a single bell siphon in a bed that's running 2 additional flood & drain aquaponic grow beds. Having the siphon in a single bed as helped save a bit of coin & allowed me to fit an extra bed in a very tight space. Will be posting a follow up clip to this one showing the ginger varieties & how they will be planted into these grow beds. Hope your fish are happy & that your gardens are booming, Cheers.

Nice one mate. That was my goal here as well but could only go about 1ft before I hit mango tree roots. What fish will you be running in the system ?
bobotb
Hi there. Not really needed for the Jade perch here but if we were to grow more silver perch I would look into something. Burying the tanks would be an issue with tree roots but have seen soil based heat exchange systems made out of pipe/hose to cool houses that are interesting. Not sure how much length I'd need for enough heat exchange to cool though as water holds heat a lot better than air. Glad you're enjoying the clips :)
Nice one mate. Glad the clips have helped some.👍
