I dont want to use Windows anymore. The ads in 10 and the forced move to 11 and online login, im out. I want to control my computer.

boyter

Yes. Sadly I went for a refund because of this, but put that as the reason.

I still want to buy the game. I was able to get into the training grounds and even join a match on the weekend because the heartbeat kicked me out.

Im not complaining. I want them to have good anti-cheat so its not Arc Raiders all over again.

boyter

Yep same issue on fedora. Tried experimental proton.

I could get in and run around for 5 mins at most. Plan is to accept it, I got 200 hours and not worry about it. My guess is denuvo and the heatbeat getting it wrong since it launches and enters no issues.

I will check back in a few weeks maybe but otherwise this is as good a reason as any to stop playing.

boyter

Well its out... and they have done something about the cheating with a new Anti-Cheat measure.... however on Linux it has since kicked me out twice. Once within 10 seconds of spawn, the second after about 5 mins running around. Message about something trying to modify the process.

Glad they are taking it seriously now, sad that I cannot play anymore. Ill check back in a few weeks maybe.

boyter

Seems to have been resolved with some small updated recently. Was able to play again.

boyter

Same issue with Fedora. Sad.

Tried reinstall of easy cheat, pinning it to the first 8 cores, the usual tricks and no go.

Sad. I had hoped I could play again if/when the update ever comes, but for now I guess it means I wont quite get to 1000 hours played (majority of that on Linux).

boyter

I am and this is my experience every round. I just stopped playing.

boyter

At this point I would settle for rats. I can avoid them. I get stuck in pure PVP lobbies where I am killed on sight. Nobody talks, they just stake out and kill me.

I thought id try again, 3 goes on spaceport and I was killed 3 times by players just lurking and never talked. There is no way to get good loot for me, I am killed the instant I find it, I cannot get any thing to craft because im killed, and I cannot get money to buy it because I am killed before I get back with anything and the moment I have it.

I'm done

You may not care, but I promise you, this experience is going to starve the game of a lot of players, as the PVE players keep getting put into PVP lobbies and leave. You will be left with only the sweatiest of players who couldn't hack it on COD.

boyter

I have not had a friendly lobby in... days. Most I see a bunch of flares go instantly from people resetting to get into them. Then I do anything and im shot and killed. Usually by someone with an Osprey.

Honestly... im over it. Id be happy to play, but I never get far enough to actually get anything to make it worthwhile. Ill just stop playing.

boyter

How do you even get into them? I never PVP... and respond with I hated the round each time I get knocked out, and even go in with literally nothing and I still get killed almost instantly. I refuse to even shoot back in the hope I no longer land in them.

I appear to be in some sort of PVP jail.

Honestly, its so annoying I think ill just quit the game.

Tested just then. 3 goes at Blue Gate. Killed PVP the moment I go underground.

boyter

NGL I found pointing at the source was a better option than the docs. Its why I rebooted searchcode after working on codespelunker for a while.

boyter

All I get are your requests to process a public repo, whatever you were searching for and the files you requested. I don't log most of it because im only really interested in the process of the calls and what is getting more use so I know where to improve or optimise things.

Honestly nothing that you weren't doing for any other service.

I never see your own code as there is never a reason for the LLM to send it and there isnt an endpoint to even facilitate with this.

I hope this answers the question, but in short, its nothing you don't already give to any other search engine. I would be more worried about the LLM itself unless you run a local model.

You can of course clone the code locally and use https://github.com/boyter/cs in mcp mode if you want to avoid any leakage. I am just offering a much faster way to do it, without any config for the agent.

Or contact me if you want a private instance of this specific tool.

boyter

Thank you. Please do. it’s getting a good amount of use now but I would like to improve anything people bump into.

boyter

It uses hooks from scc so It know what the bytes are, code comment or string. There are some other tests for definitions too such as function.

boyter

Probably not, unless it's so fast as to not impact anything.

boyter

That’s the point of it. Help find that context with less tokens. Let me know how it goes.

boyter

That’s been my experience too. I tuned the mcp on opus. been using it with Qwen 3.5 a lot yesterday too. I actually added grep mode to is last night to help it since both seems to get confused about which tool to use.

But in short yes. I have it point at my entire 3gb projects folder and its great for when I need to find exisiting things, or what to refer to something. Opus or Qwen reach out find it quickly.

boyter

The v1 to v2 to v3 always catches me by surprise. One of those things I really should remember by now!

boyter

The annoying thing about that v3 thing in Go is I always forget the README.md update because its not compile checked unlike the rest of the application. Thanks for letting me know. Fixed.

boyter

If only they had a war chest of 20+ million dollars and a fanbase that would be happy to sign up for a limited private test to shake this sort of issue out.

If only.

boyter

Sorry but this is unacceptable. Having the performance issues we did after 2 years and sitting on a war chest of 20+ million dollars is pretty poor form.

I get it. Its hard. But there are zero reasons they couldn't have done a private playtest with 256 people to shake this issue out. Doing it at scale just makes you look bad.

I suspect even adding 256 bots to a server and having them run around randomly, drive things randomly and shoot randomly would likely have found this out before they pushed it live.

There is no good reason that a roblox looking shooter should bog down a 9950x3D with 96 GB of RAM and a 5090 to the level this did.

I love the game, but FFS stop giving the devs a free pass on what should be something tested internally first, then with a private test to catch these issues before putting it in front of 6000 people.
