Any makeup gain applied by the compressor will bring the background noise up too.

brasticstack

Turn all that shit off and speak (directly, from up close) into the mic louder than all the background noise. It's the only thing that actually works.

brasticstack

How do you know if the stage is level? The bass player is drooling from both sides of their mouth.

brasticstack

It's rather unfortunately named then

brasticstack

"Everyone! Just look at how easily I can break the law!"

parser.add_argument("files", nargs="+", help="One or more files to process")

nargs='+' tells it to allow more than one argument for files.

EDIT: You'd do this on the original script of course.

brasticstack

Good to know that the curve looks just as crazy from above as it seems when you're driving it.

brasticstack

If you do want people to think of you for that next gig, they need to be thinking of you at all in the first place.

Memory is very short, and if someone hasn't seen you quite recently they just kind've forget you exist (or, charitably, think you must be doing just fine.) Not in any kind of mean way, just the nature of how it works.

I'm personally well acquainted with this phenomenon, so no judgment from here. But if you want to get more gigs you've got to get out there and show face

brasticstack

So practically no one saw you play with the cover band, but you expect people to want to reach out to hire you based on, presumably, your stellar work playing with the cover band that no one saw?

brasticstack

Do you mean wifi channels? If so definitely auto.

brasticstack

Search r/drums for "I built" if you want about a hundred more just like it!

brasticstack

So many times I've seen drummers act like they can play Come Together only to play something that 0% matches the intro.

brasticstack

Shifting RLRR LRLL one place to the right makes LRLR RLRL

brasticstack

The trend on here seems to be tuned-barely-above-wrinkles thuddy+muddy. Good enough if you're miked all the time and, as you said, a matter of taste, but I like my toms to have distinct pitches when the kit is heard from a few feet away.

brasticstack

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

brasticstack

On my Gen 3 there's a monitor volume knob on the front panel that will control HP 1+2's Volume. It took me a while to figure that out, too

EDIT: Looks like halt he equivalent would be the big knob on the front of the Gen 4

brasticstack

I've only had that happen if I use duck tape, not gaff tape. For me it only peeled up a little blob of coating, but I also used much less tape.

Add reading to that set of skills you're practicing, and transcribing/charting to the drum-related things you do when you aren't behind a kit.

As u/ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL mentioned, the process of charting a song does quite a good job of helping you remember it even without a chart.

brasticstack

Plenty of big band charts are written 𝅗𝅥 = because they're such burning tempos that it's easier to count and feel the half note pulse. Quarters and 8ths are also easier to read at that pace than 16ths.

brasticstack

A huge simplification would be to replace the open hihat with ride bell. Then the player could keep their one hand by the ride playing that pattern, and the other is free to move around the kit.

You could also make it open hihat followed by closed hihat, instead of ride, but a typical drumset player (who crosses their arms to play hihat) will have difficulty moving from snare to floor tom with the free hand.

brasticstack

Yeah, nobody's playing that at 244 bpm. It needs quite a bit of simplification, or you'll need to give your drummer mucho practice time.

If you're relying on its built-in headphone amp, then yes. If you send its line output to your own headphone amp then it'll be on both sides.

The Powerplay PM1 is a popular choice because the price is right, and you don't need anything fancy to be a headphone amp.

A slightly more involved but far more flexible setup would be a wee 4-channel mixer and  a DI box: Click + cues go in one channel,  Backing tracks (this time panned to one side, not center) go into the DI, which splits them to an XLR output for the house sound and a 1/4" output for your mixer. This leaves a channel free for the monitor mix you may get from the house system. You could then mix those three signals to taste on your mixer and use its built-in headphone amp to power your headphones.

For me it's my calves. Every goddam time a therapist works on them my nose starts dripping, usually bad enough that I have to ask them to stop and get me a tissue. Bodies are weird.

brasticstack

Given that it will prevent at least some eligible voters from voting, and that voter suppression is a major goal of the leadership of his political party, it's hard to accept this as an honest miatake.

brasticstack

You should be able to pan the tracks in Logic, 1, 2, 3 to the L side and 2 to the right side. Doh... obviously 2 to the L+R sides just means panned center. So 1 and 3 panned hard left, 2 panned center. Then send the Left output to your mix and the right to the house / band.

This is commonly done without even having a computer onstage- just do a mixdown with the tracks panned, play it back on literally anything that can play a wav or mp3, and split the outputs w/ a miniplug (or whichever connector) splitter.
