Something about the way he is talking seems so odd and artificial. It's like he is trying to channel his discomfort with someone having a moral compass into enthusiasm for the movie, but can't decide which direction to fullly commit to.
brokemac
Rogan is the kind of guy who considers "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" to be a deep, philosophically profound statement.
brokemac
If Rogan doesn't have body dysmorphia...he should.
brokemac
oh my god, that was sick!
brokemac
Who is he talking about? When he said "He's over there, "I'm over here" he made a gesture of someone standing about belly height, so I thought it probably actually was Rogan.
brokemac
And awful excretion.

The thing that really gets me is that they're teaming up with the pedophiles and pedophile-supporters once again. Her father sexually abused her when she was at most 12 years old, and her mother stayed with the guy, never spoke to Amy in the nearly 50 years since she was taken from her custody, and we're supposed to rely on this woman's judgment of character?
brokemac
Why is there only one jug at the foot of the mattress? I thought it was like an ironing board or something.
brokemac
You don't think there is a feedback loop by which a candidate's reach grows? Like, I imagine a grassroots candidate typically starts with a small number of seed donations and then this allows them to expand their visibility and draw in more donations to further their campaign. Do you not think it works like this? I'm trying to understand the assumption behind your question.

Just so we're on the same page, do you know what steelmanning is? It is articulating the opposing view as clearly as possible to show that you understand the counterarguments to your own position. What you seem to have done instead is simply reiterate your own viewpoint with a potential strawman thrown in (i.e. "he endorsed Donald Trump like 50% of America so fuck him forever").
If that is truly your best understanding of why people see Musk as problematic, you are exactly the type of person who needs to see that documentary. Do you think you will?
brokemac
He's definitely accelerated electric vehicle and space flight industries, and yes, those are big things. That's not the problem people have with him. Can you give your best steelman of why he is a "boogeyman" to most liberals and democrats?
brokemac
Yeah this subreddit blows. We can't even celebrate the good old days of Mista Shaub in here without getting downvoted.
brokemac
Okay, so what is your honest opinion about Elon Musk? Do you think you'll check out the Gibney documentary?
brokemac
I think it's someone who criticizes the left for their wrongs and criticizes "both sides" for anything the right does wrong.
brokemac
I've seen comments that you have been banning people for being too critical of Joe Rogan. Not sure if that's true or not, but if so it's fucking ridiculous. As an old fan, the majority of us never "respected" the guy, we just found him enteraining and enjoyed his podcast. I mean, that's always been the culture around JRE.
brokemac
Haha, yeah, it seems like a ridiculous question unless I'm missing something. Everyone knows that money helps win elections. The candidate who spends more wins 90% of the time, and small contributors are the lifeblood of grassroots campaigns fighting pieces of shit like Ken Paxton. James Talarico would not stand a chance if everyone was like "what do you need money for?? Fucking ads?" 😂
brokemac
Canvassing, ads, organizer salaries...maybe I don't understand your question. OP's post is about how Elon Musk is using his money to influence the election. I was saying we can do the same thing across 80 million people with very small donations. What are you asking?
brokemac
The thing is that if all 80 million of us who voted against Trump donated like 10-25 bucks to a pro-democracy candidate, we could easily drown out the billionaires. Maybe like 20 million of those voters are truly unable to afford $10, so make it 60 million. It still stands. Elon Musk doesn't have nearly as much money in reality as he has on paper.
brokemac
I was there from the beginning! I still recall the feeling of mesmerization from first watching This is a Sad Thing.
People are downvoting because they're haderz, b. They couldn't even begin to understand what it takes to put together a good reddit post. They don't madder in any facet.
brokemac
Much as I don't like him, at least someone like Andrew Schulz admitted his wrong and feigned contrition. Rogan is just like "Yes for the record I 100% endorse Trump, whatever the great and powerful Elon Musk says, the left is fucking crazy. I'm on the left, this administration is crazy man."
brokemac
Is this directed at Duncan Trussel for saying that the The Onion's comedians deserve the guillotine? /s
brokemac
I'm just honored and humbled for the opportunity to watch a couple billionaires eat pizza. He said it's good! That's so cool. Love the closeups and high fidelity sounds of mastication.
brokemac
Looks like hell.
brokemac
Sorry bro, he said it's a fact. Your data's no good here.
I'm not a huge Glassman fan, but I watched the whole 2 hours and I fucking loved it. It depends on how much you enjoy seeing Schaub and Ray Pest trolled, but it's A+ trolling.
edit: I didn't look at the link. I was assuming he was referring to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5pSd0JrG_s
