I was at Cracker Barrel recently and they had Christmas ornaments out but one said, "In Loving Memory" then had a space to put a photo. But they put a persons photo into the ornament so now their are either thousands of ornaments with an actual dead person in it which feels weird, or the person isn't dead and they just randomly used their photo and we're like "does she make a good dead person", which is also weird.

At the end of the day it wasn't actually some moral swing the got slavery abolished in the US. There is a very strong correlation between countries industrialization and abolishing slavery. When a single man with a mechanical reaper can do the job of a dozen men you no longer need slaves to work your fields. I was in Kansas a few months ago and I was in the right lane that was merging into the center on I-70. Everyone was preemptively getting into the middle.
