Excellent! I love that detune transition you did. Slick.

That is the look of a cat who can totally shoot laser beams from her eyes but just hasn’t told you yet.

Wow, that’s my OBW’s favorite outfit too! 😂

I drive a black 25 OBW. Deliberately parked next to another one in a hotel parking lot when there were much closer spaces. (Traveling with my wife who prefers to sleep INSIDE hotels rather than inside the car OUTSIDE the hotel in the parking lot.) I was legitimately sad when we left in the morning and the other one was still there. A moment of camaraderie lost to the ether…
I… may need to get a life.

“About as rare as a Subaru in an REI parking lot” is a phrase that’s been bouncing around inside my head for a long time.

For dispersed car camping you may need to go further inland. Also, check out trails along the gunflint trail. Gorgeous up there. And you can wave to Canada!
captain_bleep
I do this all the time up there. You’ll be fine. Have fun!

Those came out when I was a little kid. Always loved them and wanted one. I frequently think of my OBW as an evolution of that general concept as I’m driving around doing things in a station wagon that you’re not supposed to be able to do in a station wagon. 😄

I once got stuck on a rock that fit right between the arms (???) of one of the lower control arms. Donated a little rubber from one of the rear Geos and pulled myself off it. These would’ve helped avoid that situation. This is a useful mod.

I’ve done exactly this. Multitracking a TR and a 707 via USB and stuff going into a “normal” interface. It’s insane. And reliable. Omnibus is absolutely worth the money.

These two actually complement each other well in terms of sound. I have a Hydra desktop and the Redshift will be my next synth. That said, if you’re just learning synths, Hydra is a better choice. You can see the voice structure right there on the panel AND the modulator buttons have backlighting that shows you the signal they’re outputting.
Also, the voice structure of the Hydra is pretty typical for subtractive synthesis. It’s got a lot more bits than most subtractive synths, but those additional components will be very entertaining once you’ve mastered the basics.
The Redshift is a unique beast with its 16 core oscillator. While it’s an amazing sounding synth, the lessons you learn programming it likely wont translate as well to other synths as the lessons you’ll learn programming the Hydra. It would be a great SECOND synth heh.

Awesome. Two of my favorite things in one photo.

Super cool! Synths with floppy drives have always looked badass to me. Even tho they’re no longer useful.

I feel like mine gets pinstripes just looking at a forest.

Great instruments through a great mixer. Have fun with that! Happy for you!

Awesome. Would love to see a wet Donut. If for her facial expression alone.

Lots of folks put 235s on their OBWs. I plan to do the same when my stock 225 Geos are done. But yeah like one of the other commenters, never heard of this brand. The last place I would want to cheap out on my car would be the tires. Few things have as big an impact on performance and more importantly safety as tires do, especially off road.
captain_bleep
Right in your goddamned ear.

RCI & Rallitek here. No MPG hit. This is one of the best mods you can do. If you’ve got off road skills, good skids will boost your confidence and extend what you can tackle with your OBW.

It’s not a sample pack, but a MyVolts StepUp and a USB battery. That way you can record the sounds of your 8 hour train ride and multiple airports with its onboard mic and modulate that into some techno. I travel this way with my own S-4 and can verify that it’s a whole lot of fun.
captain_bleep
Same. Better not be mine. 🤣
captain_bleep
I’ve been using one for a long time. Its live capabilities are specifically why.
Yea, the basic patterns are few and… basic. However, there are about five zillion ways to introduce variance to those patterns. I will also say that your experience will be better if you take the time to learn how each function works and the various key combos to do stuff. That will help you fly around the thing super fast.
Have fun!

White Bear Lake has a few lakeside bars. It's just north of St. Paul. Tons of good places just in the biz district too. Also... welcome to Minnesota! Once you move in... you'll never move out. (srsly. it's pretty awesome here.)

+1. You don't want to drive around there in the dark unless you have tons of lights. Just wait until Friday morning. The forest is 3M acres. There's TONS of dispersed camping around. Yes, there will be less available than on a normal weekend, but there will still be something. Lots of the campgrounds in SNF are "rustic," too. That means free, first come first served, nuthin but a toilet, fire rings, and picnic tables.
But yes, look on Gaia or even just Google to have a few spots to go for. Sometimes when I go up there I spend all day just driving around checking out campsites. That's how much is out there.
Me too. Every time. “You drive that thing up here?” “Yeah. All the time.” “No shit?” “No shit.” Either that or “You’re crazy driving that thing up here!”
And that’s if they talk to me rather than just stare at me with a confused expression.
I so badly want to run into another OBW on the trail…
