Full bars first and goodie bags when those run out.

Not quite as bad but I took the city bus about a half hour each way to school my 4 years of college. I'll never forget one time I went in for just one class, the others I had that day were cancelled in advance. I got in the building only to catch my teacher walking out and he told me in passing the class was cancelled for that day. This was obviously extremely short notice. I turned around, got on the exact same bus with the exact same driver making its return trip and he didn't charge me bus fare lol.

I hated that. Felt like Tartakovsky changed his mind about that plot thread and that was the easiest(ie laziest) way around it.

I can't quite describe how put off I was by Zara's death in Jurassic World. I really hated that scene. To the point that it was the main thing that stuck with me about the movie. Years later I learned the actress asked for it, which is fine if it's what she wanted I guess, but I still think it's just awful.

"People forget, he's down there...waiting."

I watched Topher Grace's 2018 film Delirium as movie #58 for my horror marathon last night. It stunk. The premise wasn't too bad, but the presentation was flat-out bland. I ended up giving up an hour in and looking up how it ended. 2/10.

Just finished Train to Busan. My god what a movie. I had tears in my eyes the last 5 or 10 minutes. One of the finest zombie movies I've ever seen. 9/10.
Afterward I turned the game on in time to see the Cowboys take the lead and turned it back off.

My entire family voted by mail, sent their ballots in a week ago. I'm doing same day next Tuesday. Probably getting a tooth pulled the day before too so should be fun!

Also, I got new sneakers for the first time in a couple years yesterday. $55 Reebok that I would like to get a full year out of at least. Growing up my sneaks lasted upwards of 5 years each, but the last pair I got before these were New Balance that cost $80 and started falling apart in the second year. I was very disappointed with them so I've adjusted my expectations accordingly. Maybe newer sneaks aren't made as well, maybe it's due to my increase in walking, maybe it's a little bit of both. But it felt nice to have them on yesterday with the additional comfort and support compared to my old falling apart pair. I'll keep those to cut the grass in next year.

With my team's season done and them being on tonight anyway I watched three more horror films yesterday, numbers 54, 55 and 56 for the month:
Excision(2012) - Weird tonally. Felt more like a slice of life coming of age film about an awkward teenager with delusions of violence until she decides to act on them with tragic results in the film's finale. You could have easily veered in another direction in the last 15 minutes and had a very different film that would have worked just as well. 5/10
Creep(2014) - Excessively goofy until it was too late not to be. This is a found footage style film about a dude who is hired to follow around a guy who may or may not be what he says he is. Found footage is not something I watch a ton of and I found this more funny than disturbing or scary, which it was very much trying to be by the end. 4/10
Demon(2015) - Interesting premise, overly dour and unsatisfying conclusion. A Polish man gets possessed by the spirit of a dead Jewish girl on his wedding night with tragic results. The director of this film ended up committing suicide while promoting it, which is horrible, and makes me want to be able to say nicer things about it but besides some dark humor from the bride's family trying to keep the wedding from becoming a total disaster I really didn't get much out of this. 5/10
My next film to watch is 2016's Korean zombie epic Train to Busan. I've not seen it, but walked in on family watching it and it looked interesting. Plus I've heard good things so hoping for better results.

This post made me just go and check and out of 61 films I've logged this decade I've given none a full 5 stars or even 4 and a half for that matter. Interesting.

If you don't wanna pay taxes you're also free to spend a weekend with the Pain Monster!

Probably THOH III. Killer Krusty Doll, King Homer and Zombies is a tough trio to beat.

Funnily enough one of the biggest criticisms I've seen of the new Fire Emblem game has been its voice acting. I haven't played it myself not owning a Switch 2, but I thought the voice acting in Three Houses was fine. But it is what it is.

It's still generally looked down upon, at least in internet circles I've seen. But keep in mind I'm of the opinion that dubs dating back to the mid 2000s were often better than they got credit for, especially what Funimation, Bandai and Viz were putting out. Not always great, but usually at least passable and often pretty good. So there's a good chance you wouldn't agree with me.

When I think back on some of the stuff I once owned as a kid and sold I wince at missed opportunities, perhaps none more than Pokemon. I had Blue, Yellow, Gold and Silver. I had a Pokemon themed Game Boy Color. I think it came with Yellow actually iirc. I got a first edition Charizard card for a hundred bucks one Christmas that was in this absurdly huge card protector that if I still had would sell for thousands...several thousands. I ended up selling it back to the same shop for 25 bucks. Funnily enough I bought 1 base set pack and kept the rest of the money. Guess what I got in the pack? A Charizard. Which is the kind of thing you'd see in a movie and point out as being too impossible to be believable. At least that one I gave to a cousin as a gift.

That's cool. I'm a pretty big dub supporter as far as stuff like anime is concerned and think it's pretty unfairly maligned in general. But for these films I'll be checking them out subbed for sure.

I know each has its defenders, but it's funny how the first 3 examples are widely considered among the worst in their series, isn't it?
casualreader22
Yeah, my initial thought was he looks like Jason Voorhees from some of those later Friday the 13th sequels. This is more than just being old. Sorry to see it.
casualreader22
I've heard nothing but good things and have long meant to watch it, just haven't gotten around to it but seeing the trailer for this new one really lit a fire under my ass lol.
casualreader22
I'll give it credit in at least knowing what it wanted to be.

There were 5 trailers before my screening of Clayface yesterday:
Godzilla Minus Zero: Even though I'm a big fan I have yet to see Godzilla Minus One. Once we hit November i plan to rectify that before going to see this. Pretty stoked.
The Beekeeper 2: I had never even heard of The Beekeeper 1. But I had 2 key takeaways from this trailer. First, the trailer opens with a laughably bad looking CGI bee landing on Jason Statham's finger. Second, Jeremy Irons both looked and sounded extremely frail. Made me sad. I looked it up after and he's 78. I also forgot he played Alfred from the Batman series at one point. Those Ben Affleck movies really came and went for me.
Some godawful looking Jake Gyllenhaal/M. Night Shyamalan February Horror release I doubt I'll ever see.
An okay looking 1980s set crime drama with Scarlet Johansson and Kylo Ren that I wouldn't ever pay to see, but might watch if I just saw it flipping through the channels back in the day.
Avengers Doomsday: Already made my opinion known on this one but after Endgame I largely dropped the MCU. I've read various wikipedia articles on some of the films but I imagine I'll end up reading this one on there too and checking it out on Disney+ months after it releases. Cool to see Ian McKellen's Magneto with long hair though.

Both are shown at different points.

The kids are literally watching Forbidden Planet on TV in Halloween 1978.
Just finished 2022's The Menu as the 60th film in my October horror movie marathon. I love whenever someone uses the term donkey as a pejorative. It's always a Brit. I could see someone finding it pretentious or on the nose, but I was left thoroughly satisfied. 8/10
