The wealth of someone on minimum wage is likely in the negative. Either they owe a mortgage or more likely rent/share with family/friends and use debt (credit cards) to get by. It would be extra jarring to see average wealth of minimum wage workers next to all those zeros

I think it's a numbers game, more community workers per person I think. More county staff, and more elderly people within the city boundaries.

My wife works for the NHS She has found people who have a city postcode are given 7 weeks before they can have a home visit, but those in the county get 2 week windows because the home services are run and finances by the council.

In carlton that would mean neighbours could get completely different outcomes because someone lives at number 30(city) and someone lives at 32(county)

It might just be me but I don't think about the payback period of my solar.

Same way I don't think about the return on investment for shoes or a car, it's a utility item too me.

My roi is I'm doing my bit for the environment, and can sleep easy at night knowing I don't have a bill coming and I'm now detached from the energy crisis. To me that is more return on investment than the money side.

To be fair I massively over specced to get that feeling. I tell people I payed for a decade of energy up front (at 2022 prices)

That's part of it, people would rather go to one shop for everything than 10 local shops because they are time poor and price conscious.

He's a dealer who also owns a shop, it's not a shop that sells drugs. I think it's weird the way they are framing this. It goes from "we met a drug dealer" To "High Street Crime Crisis"

Also... we don't need more drug laws, we need a wealth tax. And better schools/services. Maybe if people weren't struggling then they wouldn't need to turn to selling drugs.

Supermarkets killed most city centers, it's only when they started to feel the squeeze from Aldi and Lidl on food and Amazon on stuff did we start to hear about 'online' killing the high street. It was dying a decade before I could buy a toaster online
