Hey friend. A totally low key control you can use is a method my grandparents and anyone with their own loose chickens uses regularly. Just make a habit of cracking your eggs into a small, separate bowl first. One at a time. And then add them to your main dish after inspecting. Almost all weird eggs are immediately identified with a cursory glance and can be discarded.
It takes about 8 extra seconds, isn't unreasonable or disordered, and saves your cake from any potential weirdness.

Right. Halloween candy is about quantity not quality. Part of the fun is going home to sort through your haul together and see which goodies you got.
My bowl is going to have Costco candy and fruit snacks so I can give you a fistful or two if I like your costume

When making stock you've usually boiled or simmered the carcass long enough for the collagen and bones to start breaking down. By that point, the meat is very over cooked and will have a dry, pappy texture. And sepatating the little bits of rib meat from all the tiny loose bones is a pain
But growing up we had several whole chicken soups where you gently boil a whole chicken first. Then set it aside to cool while you add other soup ingredients to the pot. Then pick the meat off the bones and add it back in right before serving. You can add canned tomatoes and corn for a "tortilla soup" (served with corn chips) or add carrots, celery, and noodles for a chicken noodle. Just make sure you check the seasoning before you put the chicken back in

It's an instinct to hide leftover smelly foods. Maybe because they think a predator might be attracted to the smell. Maybe because they want to save it for later. But he's probably done eating for now and if he does it obsessively, you can take the plate away and give him more in an hour or two

That's the neat part - they just didn't have a real plan. 🤣
Actually IIRC a lot of the problems were caused by them not really understanding exactly which modern conveniences would be unavailable in an emergency. They had an electric can opener in the house, but the power was out and they didn't have a manual one. Similarly, they didn't realize they couldn't heat the house with gas if the air pump was offline because it runs on electric. They had cosplayed being preppers by buying stuff but no one had sat down to really understand what an emergency looks like and how your tools need to be used

Eck eck!

A couple years ago Texas got hit with a freak ice storm that knocked the power grid on its ass and messed up our infrastructure for 3-6 days in most areas.
There was an epic Twitter thread of someone just posting their far right prepper brother's struggles. They had piles of canned food and no can openers. Shit load of ammo and no way to start a fire. Had drinking water but no way to warm themselves or their food.

I have noticed that this sub often repeatedly tells people to just diet harder or keep going whenever they post about a problem.
The people here are not doctors. Please see professionals when something truly feels wrong. You don't deserve to be in pain or ignore symptoms just because you aren't at goal weight yet.

I'm not even that old but I need that chair for putting on tights. So what if it has some half clean outfits on it as well?

Can confirm, there was zero line at the Chinatown center today at 5:15. Obviously check the wait times site first. But then go get in, get out, and have some dumplings as a reward

Maga doesn't really need the reminder, so I've never differentiated. It is in our best interest if more people vote, period.
That being said, not sure I have any Republican friends left unless they're hiding it really well. So I remind everyone.
cflatjazz
Keep going. Don't get complacent. Remind your friends to vote

Nope. It turns out the needle doesn't budge for me until I cut down to 1300/day. Which quite a bit lower than any of the calculators put me at even when selecting very sedentary

The adult food shouldn't hurt them necessarily. It's just that kittens often need a lot of calories. Make sure she's still gaining weight at an appropriate pace and if so she's likely ok.
You could also try a new brand or rotating wet food flavors.

I do think our most unhinged behavior is having pasta with a side of garlic bread, or pizza with a side of garlic knots

If mine hops up I tell him "this isn't coyote ugly" and he knows it means go back down to the barstool. Keeps his paws off the work surface but he can still observe. Occasionally he gets to sniff a new vegetable or sauce, so he's pretty happy to behave.
He looks like a little bar patron. So we say "welcome to Bar Sniff" and give him a treat. That reenforced that he's allowed to watch as long as he sits in an appropriate spot

I also have an idiot son. Actually he's the smartest cat I've met so far. But sometimes he's an idiot.
cflatjazz
It's exactly that. I cringe when I heard someone named their pet "asshole" and says like the pet is actually an asshole and not "haha you little asshole".
But I also met a dog named FAFO and honestly he had earned it but was also living his best little farm dog life, super secure and trusting with his human

Broken spoke has food?
Look, my first time there a horse walked in. Ordering food wouldn't really cross my mind

I know this post is mostly a joke but ...yes. My managers know they can ask me to move something around. But I have a combination of hard and soft blocks for morning emails and task planning, deep work, tasks that take more than two hours and happen regularly, and even lunches. Otherwise I will be interrupted and placed in meetings so often that I would have to do all my work outside of working hours.
And a bit niche to my specific situation...but because I WFH I have a weekly 2-5 block on Fridays that I use to meet a friend and work from coffee shop. No meeting, no deep work. Just getting final tasks cleaned up and submitted, and setting up the following week's goals for my direct reports. Again, I'll reschedule if an important meeting is requested. But any last minute meetings that aren't urgent

Most commonly with my Granny's generation, but yes. I'd hear people say their kids, husband, or pets were "driving me half-crazy"

Hey, with all the love I can, you're starting to sound like you're looking for a reason to be offended today. I get it, I've totally been there. But the commentor above wasn't being ableist.
cflatjazz
Yeah, if I'm standing right there it probably sits out but if I walk away there is a 15% chance the cat is going to try stealing it, decide it tastes yucky, and leave it splatted on the tile.
So not guaranteed, but inconvenient enough to take the precaution

Sorry this is flippant but "washminster" is a hilarious portmanteau
