Switch hybrid devil

chrisdrop1

I spent 2y ordering best roasters from anywhere on the world every month

I’d argue my subjective opinion has some empirical efforts behind it

chrisdrop1

I have had and love these beans
Switch hybrid devil recipe for them is perfect

chrisdrop1

I also like Tanat although I feel quality went down after rebrand - maybe mental on my part

Manhattan is solid

Coffee Collective v good

Special Guests

I have ordered from major US roasters and really all over

Reliability and low variance with high mean = TW

I know the people in London Watchouse Coffee for example have gone to TW to learn

chrisdrop1

I am in London and pay shipping too
But I get a bunch of bags
My wife and I each drink daily so 6 bags is usual balance
I still think a good deal for quality even with shipping

chrisdrop1

somewhat related; i feel like Kawa post Tanat rebrand has been ... worse
i had ordered from them 1x every 2 months for a while, but since Tanat rebrand, I have slowed down and had several less stellar roasts.

chrisdrop1

same, i have the same tubes, do the same thing, with the same look/ quantities.

chrisdrop1

I have switch, wave, etc - but maybe I’ll grab a deep dripper for these cases …

chrisdrop1

I am short Origin - mid in general - they often omniroast for coffee and espresso and it is … Long Dark Arts (high variance but occasionally awesome ) Square Mile overpriced but occasionally a very good roast

Colonna is very good - maybe fav in uk roasters

watchouse horizons blue label roasts are often like your preferred flavour profile

chrisdrop1

This is absolutely my go to fav I usually grind 30g so pours take a little longer I also bias towards coarser grinds and 90deg to start Every time I try any of my older brewers or recipes I come back to this one

chrisdrop1

Switch every day Hybrid Devil recipe - I can’t get off of it

chrisdrop1

Manhattan and Tannat are my fav for funkier

chrisdrop1

They do some infusions (ew) but this doesn’t look like one

Drop temp Increase grind size Extract less hard

For these I always use switch with the hybrid devil recipe that is usually 90 degrees and drops to 70 degrees for final closed switch segment. It reallllyyy smooths these out

chrisdrop1

Agree Kawa better name Probably corporate nonsense reason for rename if I had to guess

BUT they make have been one of my favourite roasters

I feel like last batch wasn’t as amazing and I hope rename is just that and last batch was a fluke

chrisdrop1

I tried to order more but … they were out !

chrisdrop1

i order from all over the place all the time, no concerns as long as you don't mind paying for shipping.
