Read more carefully (although it's hard due to no paragraphs): OP was in the exit row, they are saying it happened in the row behind them:
> I was in 20F, which is in the final exit row. Behind me was an elderly couple who did not speak English very well at all.
Not saying it's true, just saying that it's not quite what you're saying.
I too think the whole "service animal" thing is out of control though.

Goes to a foreign country where English is not the primary language.
Gets frustrated that people speak their native language.
FFS, how entitled are they?

I started about a year ago at age 55. I've since competed twice and train 2-3 times a week. I go to the gym for strength training 3 times a week too.
My BJJ gym skews young, my wife (who started at age 54) and I are the oldest by about 15 years. I've learned to just turn down rolls with the athletic 20s white belts who treat ever roll like the ADCC finals. I try to roll with the older people and higher belts who don't have anything to prove (at least to me).
I'm enjoying it and envision continuing for quite a while. I just do gi so I have some sort of control against more athletic people, and I don't compare myself to them. I'm slower and less flexible, but there's some truth to "old man strength" and patience. I don't fear injury, I just try to watch who I roll with to minimize the risk. I still get sore and bruised, but that's OK, it's not "hurt".
Personally, I think one of the best parts of being the "old guy" is when I have a good roll against the young guys and they ask how old I am and when I tell them they get the shocked look. I'm in a no lose situation there, either it's, "good job, you just tapped somebody who's 30 years older than you", or "ha, the old guy beat you". Good times either way (and I don't gloat about it, I tap early and often to minimize injury, I don't care if it's a new guy, I tap).
Have fun, it's not a big deal if you're smart at all about things and don't insist on having to "win".

Price cannot be it. Amtrak is at least as expensive as flying, and generally more expensive.
I just priced an Amtrak w/ a Roomette from Tampa to Minneapolis. It was 55 hours one way, and a total cost of $2900. Yes, two thousand, nine hundred dollars. Coach is obviously cheaper, for for 2 overnights I want my own room, and would actually probably do the full "bedroom" w/ private bathroom/shower, but that would be even more expensive.
I can fly that for less than $1000 every day and be there in a few hours and wouldn't have to worry about sleeping arrangements.

She probably also didn't care if things stuck a bit. She was cooking eggs, not worrying about what the neighbors (in the days before the internet) thought about things.

Sure, so you add the 3 different ones separately. You don't need to use compose.

I'm fully aware of what it is, I've run docker in "real" enterprise situations. I'm just saying in unraid it's not necessarily common. Usually if an app requires something else they'll list it as a dependency or wrap it in their own.
Again, not saying it's not ever needed, but it's not common either.
chrishal
I've used unraid for years and have never used a docker compose file. Maybe my use case is different, but I run a dozen or so containers, so maybe quite a few less than some people, but I've never seen a requirement to use a compose file. Yes, you generally need to configure a docker parameter, but that's not really any different than some sort of configuration somewhere.

Re: Google Fi: Strange, I have used it for years, 20ish trips, in CR with no problems. I was just there (Jan, 2026) and it worked without any problems, as usual.

Ahh...that would have been helpful to know. Things are different in the US, and I obviously based my response on you being from the US.
Also note, if you have US dollars, you can pay with those virtually everywhere, which is also why I don't bother getting much local currency. You won't get a good exchange rate since it's up to whoever is taking it to set it, but it's handy.

I use the ATM in the airport (the one by the baggage claim, NOT the "Global Exchange" one or whatever). My bank refunds any ATM fees, even foreign ones, so I can't tell you if that charges anything or not.
I only usually take out about $50 worth, whatever that converts to at the time, and usually come back with $30 worth. I look up the conversion rate ahead of time and take out colones. The ATM offers both dollars and colones, make sure you don't do USD thinking you are entering the equivalent dollar amount to take out in colones.
That being said, I have run into very, very few places that don't take a card. Again, make sure to have one that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees (note, it's not the establishment charging those, it's YOUR bank), and if they ask, charge it in colones, not USD.
Not sure why expect things to be without fees. Many ATMs in the US charge fees if you're not a customer of the specific bank, why would it be different somewhere else?
City Mall is very close as the crow flies. I'm not sure about walking there though, I've never tried. You could take the Hilton Garden Inn shuttle there since the hotel is connected to the mall. I don't know if there is a bank branch there though, I've never paid attention to that.

They probably also hold "No Kings" protests, yet now are supporting a literal dictator.

We'll definitely be back. It's a unique (for us anyway) environment and we planned our days around the no-gi classes (didn't want to pack gis) and we've already planned to do it again (our plans have changed a bit, but probably in the spring and maybe fall).
I like the idea and can appreciate it and maybe the younger people would be more inclined for that because it definitely could be fun.
chrishal
I know where you're at, and we dropped in last spring to train where you teach (taught?) for a couple of sessions (well, my wife did, I hadn't started yet) and would trust that you would run things well (and we're planning on doing it again this spring, but probably for 3 weeks and this time I'd train too). She had a good experience in your classes and from my bystander point of view it was well run.
That being said, for us in particular, we have a house down that way (about 20 mins South of there) and we're in our 50s, so a hostel like environment is the last thing we want. If there was some standard training times instead of random "when there's enough people" it would be more appealing, assuming you would let people who aren't staying there to drop in. I understand this quickly turns into what a "normal" gym is, or kind of like a camp/retreat, but I also would think people would want some sort of schedule so they could also do things like sightseeing and know when they could train.
I also agree that charging something would help weed out the people you really don't want because any time you advertise anything for free you're going to get some people you don't want. It wouldn't have to be much, and if you really wanted, you could refund or just not collect, but advertise it as something. Maybe have some donation thing for cleaning supplies or something.
Safe partners are a risk no matter where you're at, so I'm not sure that's a big issue, or at least not a dealbreaker.
As far as women, my wife would probably come if she didn't have to stay there.
I admire the idea, but it may difficult to have enough people at any given time to make it work, especially if it's just "train while you're here", because what does that mean?
chrishal
Which Western countries? It's certainly not very common in the US. Sure, you'll prob find some here or there because people are dumb, but it's definitely not common.
This also wouldn't be unpopular.
chrishal
I mean, it's $10. Support them. I definitely feel it's worth it.

I moved cross country and just packed my server into a large "electronics" box from UHaul, wrapped it in bubble wrap and surrounded by packing peanuts, put into a POD and had them ship it. Zero issues.
People make way too much about moving. Companies ship pre-built computers all day long without issue, don't over think it, especially for a 10 mile trip, just throw it in the car and go, it's really not fragile.
chrishal
Hey, there's no kings running the US, so obviously it worked. Of course, there never have been, so I guess it's doing the same. Kind of an unexpected Hedberg: There used to be no kings, there still aren't, but there used to not be any too.

You get the tokens no matter what, but once you got one character to max you got a bonus XP multiplier. This stacked to like 4 characters for like an extra 25% boost. I don't remember the exact details, you can search to find out. No exploit needed, just don't loot the XP tokens and let the game mail them to you. You still gained 6 levels in like 90 minutes and then opened up all the tokens at once and you were suddenly max level.
There was a weak aura floating around that tracked your progress and kept track of your bonus tokens so that you knew when you could just go open them all. Combined with the Auto Loot addon to blacklist them and it was super easy, barely an inconvenience. Super fun.

You got XP boost tokens for running dungeons and raids. The trick was to not loot them because they applied as soon as you looted them (I used an add on to blacklist those). You'd let the game mail them to you and save them up. There was a mechanic that you got some bonus to XP after you got at least 1 character to max, and it increased up to 4 characters I think, and once you were a few levels away from max you would go and "Open All" in your mailbox and you'd get all the XP and level up 4 or 5 levels in like 30 seconds. I did something like 10 alts and after the first couple it took less than 2 hours apiece.
It was fun as hell. Running the dungeons and raids was great. You got so overpowered that while it wasn't really a challenge, it was just fun. I think it was even more so if you did MoP when it was current and if you raided. It was fun to go back and just destroy those raids that you wiped on when current. At least it was for me.

Evidently you've never been to a Menard's. Lots of dry goods type foods (nothing refrigerated or frozen).
However, definitely don't see how Homegoods and TJ Maxx are home improvement stores though.

That's totally different. You'll still get that taken out, but this may be for their health plan, they are not related at all. As others have said, this is a simple thing to ask their HR.
No issues with National, that is generally who I go with.
