4K is overrated unless you sit close or the screen is over 60”. Brightness is fine. It’s better for sports than any LCD. The only real downside is it uses 600W.

(It’s also 3D, though I haven’t used that feature more than once or twice)

That’s certainly one way to do it. Alternatively you could just put a configure file on your server that your app grabs first that indicates the url of the database server.

Also, check that you’re using IMAP rather than POP.

Backup the old Mac first using Time Machine and then use Migration Assistant. About five years ago I actually had Migration Assistant lock-up and destroy the source drive and I was really happy I had an extra backup.

Now I keep both Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner backups just to be safe.
