Its simply the cost we are charged to outsource it as we aren't always local to do it ourselves.

I thought you just said you also live there?

clairebones

Wait so if your guest doing the dishes means you don't have to hire a cleaner, then who's doing everything else between guests - swapping out bedding, cleaning the bathroom, etc?

clairebones

Yeah but they aren't getting paid fifty dollars an hour just to wash dishes which was the entire point of the thread.

clairebones

A full turnover of a 2bed apartment is a hell of a lot more work than just washing the dishes though, that's the point. You can't say someone can turn over an entire appointment for $100 and then try to ask for half that just to wash some dishes or throw them into a dishwasher and turn it on

clairebones

but he has a responsibility to help you grow in your career.

Not to be rude but like, there are so many managers out there who don't do this and never will. If there's sexism on the team already, you think the manager is gonna suddenly decide to step in if she reminds him that he's supposed to help her grow in her career? A good manager doesn't need to be prompted like this, a bad manager won't change whether you prompt them or not.

The thing I find wild about it is that they can't even fix how the episodes work for podcasts - when you watch one episode it seems to then autoplay the episode before than rather than the one that comes after, because they haven't figured out how to order them properly somehow. With podcasts like Behind the Bastards that often has 2-parter episodes this is so irritating, obviously I''d rather just listen to it on my podcast app than deal with that

it's like Fountain Street doesn't exist, or Cornmarket. There are streets in the city centre right now that are pedestrianised but vehicles can still get down if they need to depending on the time and the reason.

clairebones

I think it really depends on a lot of factors. For me, I'm in my late 30s, newly single (no kids), doing plenty of things and learning to enjoy solo travel! I have friends in similar circumstances so we aren't limited by having to be home for kids or partners (one girl in one group is engaged but she brings her to the events anyway and we all love her so that barely counts lol)

One key thing I've found is to have multiple different groups of friends, so you're not stuck to only doing things that group have in common. Moving would help with that, but it can be hard in a city because you don't run into the same people on repeat like you do in a village, so there are pros and cons for sure.

I don't know where you're based but if you have any allowance of sick days at all, take at lest one, potentially more. They're there to be used, there's no attendance award for running yourself into the ground. Also it's got nothing to do with age - if you never take sick and barely ever take PTO then of course you're going to be burnt out, it's not healthy no matter how much your managers tell you that you should never need to take time off...

Depending on your workplace you should be able to judge if it's the kind of place that would give you negative attention for mentioning that it's for mental health, so just take it as a sick day. Insomnia and migraines are enough for a sick day or 2 regardless of the cause.

It's barely a 3 bed at that, the 3rd bed looks tiny and there are no photos of it, it's more likely an office or nursery space and I doubt you'd get more than a single bed in it. Also the wardrobe setup in the second bedroom looks awful. Definitely not worth that money.

What are you talking about? Did you read some whole other comment that nobody read or what? HE didn't say his dad can't talk, or can't drive, or can't write. The only thing he said is that his dad struggles with online and phone based banking services.

I genuinely can't grasp where you're getting all these other weird theories about some other guy's dad's disabilities that mean you think you know what he can and can't do. It makes no sense at all.

My career is literally in digital accessibility, there are many outcomes of brain injuries that mean people struggle with new systems, with remembering passwords and passphrases etc, might struggle to use small screens, might struggle with auditory processing and feel lipreading is easier... those are just a few examples. You need to calm yourself with this insane bunch on assumptions you've just pulled from nowhere.

clairebones

Why are you saying this like you doubt it? The guy didn't say his father can't walk or anything like that.

i don’t know how to become more accomplished, i feel like even if i did have something i wanted to do with my life and worked hard at it, there would always still be other women more accomplished than me or they have a passion that i can’t relate to.

I don't think this is the right way to look at it. It's not about becoming more accomplished, because as you said, there are always people more accomplished than us or more passionate than us or more successful than us. It's about being proud and happy with the accomplishments that are yours, and not comparing them to other people.

Nobody's life is only highlights, but that's all you see when they aren't a close friend or family member., so it's easy to compare yourself to that. But the reality is, everyone has things they're insecure about too. So instead of trying to 'beat' them, you need to work on not comparing at all and focusing on what you have or what you want for your own sake, not related to other people.

clairebones

Do you have women as friends who aren't linked to whoever your romantic interest is? If you have women who you're friends with for their own sake, because you have things in common and like each others' company and it has nothing to do with any men, then maybe you can realise that actually we're independent human beings who don't all like or have interest in every man around us.

clairebones

That's just not how brain injuries - or many disabilities - work at all. It's not all-or-nothing, either you can speak or you can't, move your fingers or can't, etc. For example many people with brain injuries struggle to pick up new things, so if they're old enough that they didn't grow up with things like smartphones they struggle to learn/retain the knowledge to use them.

clairebones

I think it's a generational thing though too - I'm hardly ever in my own bank, but I pop in to my mum's on her behalf every month or so because she's really reluctant to do online banking and my dad doesn't trust it at all.

clairebones

I don't usually, I have a decent soundbar and I'm a chronic re-watcher of stuff I've already seen where I don't need it the same.

That said, I use Apple TV and the thing where it automatically turns subtitles on for 10 seconds or whatever when you rewind, amazing. Usually that's enough, I've just missed a line or 2 so I don't have to go manually turn them on.

clairebones

Okay but why are you expecting people to be annoyed by Westfield shopping centres when we don't have any here? Like it's pretty simple to work out why nobody's talking about Westfield on the NI subreddit surely...

clairebones

They're doing the same thing to Bloomfields honestly - the new food places are cutting way into the carpark that was already packed out, now there are so few spaces on a Saturday that I can't imagine what Christmas will look like. They've and second story carpark but apparently it's not safe so they've just closed it off, I'd rather they spend the money on that instead of these proposals they're putting out for even more premises.

clairebones

It looks exactly like the grey one before it, you bought it twice in different colours but have no idea where you got it?

clairebones

Why is it so small?? I'm biased because I'm tall but who wants a comforter that they have to lie at the right angle to be covered by it and can't stretch out, I don't get that at all. I do think it brightens up your room a lot compared to the grey one though.

Also why do you make your bed one way and then lie in it the other way? With no headboard then either? I'm too lazy for that lol

clairebones

That doesn't make any sense in traffic though, why would you have a car in front of you not moving at all plus a space in front of that car big enough for you to land in?

clairebones

But the thing is, you're in a long distance relationship and she's a grown woman - of course she spends time with other people too? You can't honestly think that she's just sitting alone not doing anything or talking to anyone other than when you two are talking. It's also totally normally for the 'excitement' of a new relationship to fade over time and become more routine after the first few months, because the novelty is fading, and if you're mistrusting her every time she's not talking to you that's not gonna help.

Obviously if she's intentionally keeping it from you that's not great, but you've just mentioned some tiny points that don't even need to be fights at all. Next time, try not letting it become an argument at all.

I'm not saying she's totally innocent, but I do feel like you have unrealistic expectations about this relationship which are magnified by it being long-distance.

clairebones

So what exactly is your theory, that she's going out late on a Thursday night so needs an excuse to not be online talking to you? Do you normally try to keep conversation going every waking hour of every day?

I'm not sure someone saying they're tired is a good reason to suspect something else, and the other arguments you mention in the comments are so childish that they shouldn't even really be enough to make you stop talking to each other.

It doesn't sound like you're mentally in a place to be in a long distance relationship, if you're on edge every time she's not in contact with you.

clairebones

I don't know, I agree with everything in your comment but I don't think that's why the guy is downvoted - I think it's silly for anyone to have expected any kind of contentious interview. It's a pre-planned show that he's touring around with, obviously it's not gonna be an example of hard-hitting journalism.
