Yes - there’s a significant difference. It works mostly with full attention models (that’s why it’s qwen 2.5) With qwen 3 it’s much more trickier to implement something similar because of GDN.
I’ve been working on the same idea few months back but since it requires dedicated implementation per model - abandoned it
