Not quite the same. There are geostationary satellite versions but thats 22x as far away and therefore 22x as laggy.

Europe has two systems on the way, the first is IRIS2 which is due next year.

Right. And if you're vegan and they put milk in all the drinks, or you're muslim and they insist on you saying grace, or your disabled and the toilets are up some stairs.

A review that says why you gave it allows people to make a decision as to if it is something they ought to worry about. If they are buried in so many one star reviews so yours doesn't get read but adds to the general downdraft then... I guess the place sucks for a lot of people

IIRC its mostly full of Nazis. They were going to invade earth in 2018 but after the financial crash they found it was both too expensive and also a waste of their time when they could just wait another 10 years or so and be invited back like long lost relatives.

Table in a pub was my dirty protest.

I asked if I could use the changing table in the ladies and they told me no. What was I to do - ask my wife to do it?

After that I stopped asking and just went straight into the ladies, announced myself and for the very few complaints "sorry, there isn't a table in the mens I guess they think this is a womans job" which shut those down. Most women were supportive very few said nothing.

SCH5555-NS

This is where AI can help, if you prompt it a few times you can get it to give you a good guess on which pins do what based on forum comments and reverse engineered schematics. Don't ask it for the datasheet, ask it if it can work out where the pin is.

It gave me this table

Physical Pin Number Signal Name Standby State (PC Off) Power-On State (Button Pressed) If Wrong?
Pin 114 +VCCRTC_SIO ~3.0 V ~3.0 V Check or replace the CR2032 motherboard battery.
Pin 14 / 121 +3V_STBY 3.3 V 3.3 V Faulty 3.3V standby regulator on the motherboard.
Pin 73 RSMRST# 3.3 V 3.3 V SIO is corrupted, failing internal logic, or missing standby power.
Pin 102 PWRBTN# 3.3 V 0 V (Briefly) Broken front panel wire, stuck button, or bad pull-up resistor.
Pin 71 SLP_S3# 0 V 3.3 V Intel PCH chipset is dead, corrupted BIOS, or missing a vital power rail.
Pin 107 PSON# 3.3 V 0 V The chip failed to activate the ATX power supply.

But it seems pretty sure that the chip is used in desktop machines

Take a step back. What does this debug step prove and how does it prove it.

The assumption is:

A chip (often a FET) or capacitor went bad, shorted the rail, caused an overcurrent that kicked another chip to isolate the rail to prevent fire.

The power rail is more than 1V, so any good component will be happy with you injecting 1v (injecting is a perfectly good way of saying what you are doing).

So lets assume that it isn't the chip that monitors the rail that has gone bad, and it isn't the chip that powers the rail that has gone open (how are you checking these?)

In that case you are injecting 1V @ 2A which is 2W of power into a device that probably isn't capable of handling that current as 2W is a bucketload of power. Perhaps the 2W will burn the capacitor open circuit and the problem will become more subtle, perhaps it will burn out a trace that leads to the capacitor and kill everything downstream (that trace might be 3 layers deep in the PCB).

If you want to do this kind of step then you really want to start low current, and only if you don't get a result you can see (but do read a short) should you try higher currents.

I am a parent.

The risk of an accident that the kid can open the door and walk away from and be in a safer location than inside a crash protection cage is VERY low.

Whereas the risk that the shiny spring loaded flappy thing that makes a noise when you flick it and is in arms reach for potentially hours of boredom at a time gets pulled is about as safe a bet as you could make.

Sure, get freaked out about a fire, but they don't tend to happen as much as a crash with live traffic, and in live traffic you DO NOT WANT your child to have autonomy. In a fire, you are there, if you're incapacitated then almost certainly there will be onlookers who will open the door.

I imagine picking up the car seat that got crushed was a defining moment.

But there are at least two adulting things that she fucked up before the clip even started.
1) Why was the kid able to open the door, Childlocks exist for a reason
2) Why when the door opened was the kid able to fall out. Mom is sensible enough to have a booster seat but not to have the kid strapped in

Looking at the age of the kid this is 100% on the parent, but I remember getting a reaming for playing with the door because some driver flagged my mum because the door was on the 1/2 latch on the motorway. We had 1 and 2, which means it was her not shutting it properly when we set off

Well, fuck. How long do I have doc?

You should post some content. That way you get to waste other peoples lives which is the only way to power up.

Not quite. They encouraged Americans to stop voting for Trump because they have no reason to want the whole world to burn:

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/irans-revolutionary-guards-call-trump-big-liar-2026-09-29/

Its like 25 or 26 pages, I can't find it online, just a lot of news sources making claims like it was written by a terrorist group. Which is like, yeah, you call them that, they are the government. I'm pretty sure that they could make the same claim about the Trump admin... its probably in that 26 page letter.

Also, Iran would have to do sophisticated plots to kill a US leader, its not like the US where they can just call in a strike to kill the Iranian leaders. I'm sure there would be outrage if... what was that? the US already did it? They killed the current leaders dad? I wonder why they're pissed at the US!?

That would have made the loans impossible to move off their books and one institution would have gone bust which would have been no big deal. What made it a big deal was that the loans were able to be packaged and sold to other companies and retirement funds. The loans infected everything financial.

created4this

The banking crash didn't come from the poor loans, it came from being able to sell them on as something they were not. The base assumption that led to the loans being graded as good if packaged with a lot of other poor quality loans was "These high interest bearing loan package is good, because even if (say) 25% fault the remaining loans still give a good return". That isn't in itself a problem, but the faulty thinking was that the loans were independent, that one event wouldn't cause a lot of loans to crash out all at the same time. Turns out that a recession makes a lot of people default all at once.

You grant stock options when you're growing rapidly (which are shares you can chose to buy in the future at todays price), you grant restricted stock units (which are real stocks you own) when your share price is more stable.

Thats because RSUs are always worth money and stock options are just a gamble. I joined a company with a bucketload of stock options at £6.50, the stock price was £1.50 when I left - all worthless. That is coming in at the tail of the Dot Com crash and leaving in the 2008 crash.

Cyber security is something you can move. The poles did it in WW2, bringing their skills with Enigma to the UK.

You can't move a tank production facility or a deep naval port, those assets go to the invader

Nice try "the russians", I know far more about USB than I should and that is just not enough.

For example, a device might come up as a composite device including MSC and HID, which would look like normal for a user with the Disk appearing, but also be able to inject keystrokes.

USB is a tree type structure, everything from the host gets sent to all devices, so a device could spy on all the outgoing network traffic on a USB based Ethernet (but a device cannot see traffic FROM other devices, so it would be difficult to interpret some things).

And these things would be invisible when dormant, for a year it could appear just like a MSC device and just one time when delivering the payload it could appear as something else. The disk is encapsulated in rubber the shape of a satellite. I could get it X-Rayed but all I'll find is a controller chip and memory - no idea of what code the controller chip might have.

Sure, its unlikely that Huck Nets are putting anything (intentionally or not) more complex than a worm on their USB sticks that they give out at trade shows, but Sputnick are a Russian Government linked company giving out sticks at an arms fair. The stakes are much higher!

They're getting caught up in the coin part because its materially important to the question.

Probably the question is trying to pull the string "past behavior is no guarantee of future success", usually though the question is stated

"A fair coin is flipped three times and scores three heads, what is the probability of the next flip being tails" which draws three lines of thinking:

1) It must be heads, the coin has always come up heads
2) It must be tails, the coin is fair so tails are overdue to balance the universe
3) Its 50/50, the past makes no difference to the future behavior of the coin
