Shingles is nasty. It took away feeling in my Dad's leg for months and started a series of cascading health issues during his cancer battle that eventually killed him. He was also vaccinated for it. Also apparently you can still get shingles of you've had the chicken pox vaccine because it uses a weakened form of the virus. What an awesome disease.

Talk about how great she is, invite her to do things with the family, make friends with her parents, and just generally be supportive. That killed my first relationship pretty quick and she was great. Nothing worse than having your family's approval.

Luckily it wasn't alcohol?

Well, Ivan the Terrible killed his heir in a fit of paranoid rage brought on by mercury poisoning and Frederick William beheaded his son's best friend after they tried to escape to England together.

I guess in all seriousness, my parents are my role models with slightly more tolerance for my kids making their own decisions and experiencing failure.

Ivan the Great and Fredrick William I of Prussia.

lol, I have no idea how to hang out with other guys. It seems stressful. It's a lot easier to just stay home.

dancesWithNeckbeards

People still hang out with each other?

Friends plural? I have one person I met in fourth grade I occasionally talk to on Discord. Does that count? I know I'm probably missing something but I don't really understand what I'd even do to make a friend in my 40s. Talk to someone aty kids' events? Go to church? Get involved in something? Who has the time or motivation for any of that?

Let me know if you figure it out.

I brush my teeth. Where's my GPU, Dad?

dancesWithNeckbeards

Shit, is it that cheap to hire a mover?

dancesWithNeckbeards

That is suspicious. Did you even see an apple tree or two at the orchard? I've heard of orchards that steal all their apples from other people.

This is reddit, not NextDoor.

Noooooooooooo. Absolo-fucking-lutely not. Reason? Twelve year old boys. You don't need more of a reason than that.

Lifting is important to healthy aging. I don't suggest no lifting unless you're dealing with physical restrictions.

I cleaned poop off of my dad's testicles towards the end of his time in hospice. As a dad of girls, I was so clueless on a diaper cleaning routine for a 75 year old, 180 lbs man. 0/10, would not recommend.

Scale down.

It's easiest to bring it up to temp on the smoker and sear on a propane or charcoal grill.

The shrimp is unsettling.

dancesWithNeckbeards

Oof, that's something awful.

Bill Corgan and Billy Burr. It's easy to get them confused.

No, you're confusing the Star Wars Trek with the Star Trek Wars.

dancesWithNeckbeards

I don't post my kids' pictures to many weird people online either, just to a few weirdos I call family.

There's a Star Trek episode of Futurama and it was a big deal in 1999. Of course Mike knows what Futurama is. He just hasn't watched it since its first cancellation.
