When AI develops a structure of related neurons that accomplishes a task, that structure wasn’t designed by a human, it wasn’t programmed in, it emerges from training.

Basic example, no one programs in a structure that predicts whether the next word is “a” vs “an” that emerges from the training.

There are nearly countless structures in modern models, all for specific and interconnected tasks, you can explore their activations on tools online, none of those are designed, none of those are “algorithms added by people”. They are emergent capabilities, structures that literally grew from the training process.

Do you want some links to books or YouTube videos on this?

dataoops

literally yes

Words do matter so I’m gonna use the words the industry uses not listen to a random Redditor claiming that no it’s everyone else who is wrong

RLHF and RLAIF are still training

and you are missing the point if you think “every observable behavior was intentional placed by the creators”

RL lets you tune, but capabilities come from training before that

dataoops

you seem to not understand that models are trained not programmed

no one decided for these neurons to exist

i was in the same boat, after release my first update landed in less than 24h, so hopefully the big delay is just first release

dataoops

why the pubes though

Last week

dataoops

It two weeks for me until a rejection.

Then a fix, and 8 or so more days.

dataoops

Nice!

Was that 28 days with a rejection or just 28 days of silence?

Nature took carbon. Made it into wet meat. Ran electricity through it. Then it caused the problems of this planet.

If you go by 'linux had to ship a fix for this' its an 'overwhelming' amount

but

However, many of the findings have been low-priority vulnerabilities — often within obscure driver code — questionable patches, and outright hallucinations, leaving human maintainers to separate useful work from noise.

AI has reduced the barrier to entry for bug hunting, so the pros are finding serious shit and script kiddies are finding meh stuff and adding noise to the pile

the net effect is the same, more vulnerabilities and more patches, due to AI
