Solved!

Lol wow they're cute but terrible. Didn't realize it came with these.

datapirate42

About the right size, but these are totally opaque and the cavity inside isn't big enough.

My title describes the thing.

Two little round plastic knobs I found in a box I was unpacking after a move full of miscellaneous electronic items. These were in a small non-descript white cardboard box and little foam baggie which looks like it's a pack-in accessory for some type of electronic device.

Most of the light reflecting from your mirror is not reflecting off the glass it's reflecting off a thin layer of metal behind the glass, which is not transparent to visible wavelengths.  The reflection you're seeing in the tile is from the glassy surface which is at least partially transparent. the preferred transmission vs reflection of one polarization vs the perpendicular polarization only applies to the transparent medium.

Imagine the real world scenario. You have two boxes sitting on top of eachother and push/pull whatever only the bottom box. Unsurprisingly the bottom box accelerates in the direction of the force. What happens to the top box? Does it move? If so there must be some force acting upon it. What force would that be?

good for the math and problem working, but the drag equation is a pretty bad assumption.

I have a physics degree. I've worked in R&d for more than a decade.  If you want to make observable impact on people's lives, try pottery.  I've seen far more improvements in people's lives from my pottery than my research.

So you mean like how they are also removing ad-free streaming all together

Light is pure energy, not matter. Any useful definition of fluid would include it being some form of matter.
The coanda effect is a complex interaction that requires properties that matter has that light does not, such as mass, viscosity, etc.

datapirate42

Well that sounds like a poor choice

datapirate42

I'd recommend turning.

Lazy use of the word "exactly". A projection is rarely an illusion. Draw a circle on a  piece of paper, nobody is going to confuse it for a ball even though it is the projection of one.  Draw a regular hexagon, that's a projection of a cube but no one will think it is one.

An illusion requires much more contextual information to trick your eyes and brain into thinking a 2D image is a 3d object.  You have to add things like color and shading. Replicate the specific lighting conditions of the environment, and remove other context information that breaks the illusion like the presence of big white sheet of paper.

There are also holograms and maybe other ways to produce a 3d illusion from a 2D plane that aren't projections at all

datapirate42

The only answer here that actually understands the word illusion.  A projection is not the same thing as an illusion.  Unless somebody is on drugs, they're not going to look at a 3D object and believe they're looking at a 4d object.

GR describes observed phenomena as curvature, it does not introduce curvature as an explanation for phenomenon which are already well described with just SR.

New account with a pointless non-question.  Most likely ai bot training

Speaking from experience. The hard tech engineering field is starved for competent managers.  Every boss I've ever had used to be a competent engineer and got promoted to becoming an incompetent manager.  Hard tech desperately needs good managers that understand what their team is doing enough to appreciate it without the weird condescending attitude that comes from doing something 10 years ago

I'm not familiar with Mists of Avalon beyond a surface level summary. Are you saying it's similar/comparable to Mein Kampf or giving it as example of the opposite extreme?

datapirate42

nothing what you say here is true. Once again from the link you just posted:

To obtain asylum through the affirmative asylum process you must be physically present in the United States. You may apply for asylum regardless of how you arrived in the United States or your current immigration status.

You must apply for asylum within 1 year of the date of your last arrival in the United States

datapirate42

Dude you're the one who posted that link... Clearly you couldn't be bothered to read it ahead of time. I'm not going to do the work of giving you credibility when you've already done the work to show you have none.

datapirate42

There is no part in the link that you submitted that has wording anywhere close to that. Are you reading this through 3 layers of google translate or something?

datapirate42

Having a tourist visa is pretty much the definition of immigration status and how you got to the us.  Do you know what the word "regardless" means?

Read this part again very slowly

You may apply for asylum regardless of how you arrived in the United States or your current immigration status.

datapirate42

What part of that link is related to what you're saying?  The first section seems to say pretty much the opposite.

To obtain asylum through the affirmative asylum process you must be physically present in the United States. You may apply for asylum regardless of how you arrived in the United States or your current immigration status. You must apply for asylum within 1 year of the date of your last arrival in the United States, unless you can show: Changed circumstances that materially affect your eligibility for asylum or extraordinary circumstances relating to the delay in filing; and You filed within a reasonable amount of time given those circumstances.

datapirate42

If you believed there were that possibility, you'd be posting the paper rather than hiding it.
