Museum of Fine Art (honestly check out the surrounding area known as River North, lots of chill places) or McNay Art museum, Zombies Bar, Eternal Morning Coffee, Beethoven Maennerchor, and you can check out the KRTU Jazz calendar for whenever you want to catch some music!

La Bella low tension! They’re 42-100, just put on my Ric and they sound the same but easier to play!

They can’t just take a photo of the meal once it’s cooked? I don’t get it.

Fort Worth for your idea of “country cowboy”, but I’d say San Antonio for a good glimpse of a bit of everything “Texan”. Take a history tour (it’s more than just the Alamo), go to the Riverwalk, visit Southtown/Broadway by Incarnate Word Univ/The Pearl/River North District, and I guess visit St. Mary’s Strip for your day and night time outings. If you have the time, you can visit New Braunfels, San Marcos (great rivers and towns) and maybe Lockhart (BBQ capital and cool town)…well at that point you could go to Austin too. Austin is cool but it’s not representative of TEXAS.

Texas is stupid huge, and every region is different (watch the opening scene of Bernie with Jack Black for a quick explanation). Every part of it has contributed to the history and culture through the centuries. For me, Central TX/The Hill Country and South Texas (San Antonio and the 200+ miles south of it down to the Mexican border) is the iconic view of Texas but I know people would disagree and say West, North, and East and they’d have their reasons.

My gf got me this Franklin leather strap from guitar center and I love it. While the consensus is to get a 3in+ strap, I think it’s 2.5 but I don’t feel any shoulder pain from my Rick, Jazz, or tele (all of which are 10lbs or close to it)!

HEB will always be there, you’re allowed to change what you want to do and you’re allowed to stay if you want. Business Admin is a fine major and you’ll be introduced to different fields through the degree. I say if you’re going to change maybe do it in your Junior year. If you want some specific skills, regardless if you use them (but at least you’ll have a backup), accounting, finance, and maybe marketing would be majors to focus on.

What kind of artists are you into/wanting to make music like?

You can’t outright cut a habit, no matter what it is, so start by reducing the amount you buy. Maybe instead of of a oz, only a 1/4, and later downsize to an 8th. Then decide to allow yourself certain times, say “only on weekends.” Maybe make it conditional, “I’ll only smoke once I do all the chores this week.” Also, physically move it away from you (in the storage vs by your bed drawer).

Play all three, pay attention to the comfort of the body and fingerboard, then the tone you like, and lastly what gets you that instant reaction of “oh yeah”…then buy the other model you didn’t decide on in a few years.

dcito

No unfortunately

Central Market or maybe the Alon Town Center. I’m sure I’m forgetting another bougie HEB but these two immediately come to mind. CM would have the whole big ass wheel of cheese or curated picks though, so go there first. The Whole Foods would also have a section similar to CM.

There’s a interview of Carol Kaye about practicing with a metronome (and Philip Conrad recently made a video about it too). Basically set the metronome to a tempo, say 70, then pretend each click are beats 2 and 4 (the snare). In actuality you’re playing in 140bpm but it’s your job to make the click groove and YOU need to find beats 1 and 3. Some practice and bam, you’ll fit into a groove even if you don’t have crazy chops.

I used a Ampeg BA115 which was also 100w (iirc) and it worked! Yeah it was being pushed but it didn’t crap out or fart. Guess it depends on what you’re competing with on stage?

dcito

Gonna take a crack at it and say: 1 e + a, 2 e + a, 3 +

dcito

Thank you for the reply, you helped me out a lot!

dcito

Been interested in one for reason #1 like you, haven’t been able to get one yet but videos show it’s right for the job!

dcito

How did you monitor yourself at first when it was just you using a modeler? Did you hear yourself through the wedges or did you have your own IEM setup? I’m interested but have no idea how it would work and an old school style band.

Man just wants to sneak in a few pages of a book he’s reading! Honestly it’s a good sign that he chooses to read and it’s a hobby.

Hat, SPF shirt, neck gaiter, one of those cooling rags that you wet, and be outside for hours so you acclimate as the temperature warms up, Godspeed🫡

Came from Edinburg, and maybe just a few months? you get used to the multiple lanes, people drive faster than in the valley, but lots of lack of common sense or use of blinkers, and the worst is people hauling ass and sliding into different lanes last minute. Eh it’s not bad.

dcito

I’d say take it! I would look up “folk standards/classics/essentials” on Spotify for playlists that people have made to at least learn and get familiar with the style.

If you know you’re intervals, you’ll find a lot of I - IV - Vs as the core of the songs, and then learn where the the closest and most comfortable “vi” is to play…maybe find “ii” while you’re at it.

It’s similar to old country, you can get a feel for how the songs lead into the chord.

Halcyon at Southtown, or Qatra/Haraz/Qamaria at the Med Center

If you want to get engaged, you should probably talk about it. Everyone should be on the same page about what they bring in, because they will lead into what they can contribute, or how you guys as a unit want to tackle different things. Who knows, he’s probably fine with there being a gap in pay? Everyone knows people in tech make a lot of money and teachers done. You might be worried about nothing.
