Not certain they're listening to Clark, but she's already talking about delaying their spending commitments:
Clark acknowledges that some of the government’s spending commitments will have to wait.
“There’s no money to spend on it yet,” she said, referring to promised investments in public services.
dddbbb
They did! Increased spending and increased tax cuts. If they increase both sides, surely that's balanced, right?

And that Conservatives are united in ripping up DRIPA.

I want to make an engine for interactive fiction/text adventure games.
Have you used some existing ones (Ink, Twine, ...)? What pain points from existing solutions are you solving with your system? What do they do well that you will do just as well in your system?
If the dev want to make a custom system, they should be able to do it.
Beware the rabbit hole of creating your own programming language. Often this happens without intentionally making a language: making "interaction trees" that can be so complex that they are essentially programming. Worked poorly for every in-house engine I've used that fell into that trap. Embed Lua or Wren or something instead.

Cool! Would love to see some "making of" shots showing it in various states of completion!

CenterBC were supposed to be the new centrists. Did any run in your riding? Did their platform actually align with your views?
(Too late now, but curious to know. I first learned about them yesterday.)
dddbbb
Post was blocked due to low quality sources, so I removed YouTube and dailyhive sources.
You can see sourced details of their platform on bcballot.
Obviously, these aren't a slam dunk because they wouldn't officially validate left wing fears. But I interpret these parts of their platform based on typical Conservative priorities.
Raiding the Crown Corps (ICBC, BC Hydro, etc.)...
Expand consumer choice where competition can improve price and service while preserving the right to choose ICBC as a public insurance option with clear service standards and public reporting.
https://conservativebc.ca/plan/insurance/
Isn't car insurance more expensive in Ontario (free market) than it is in BC (Crown corp)? What's the point of a crown corp competing? And when the crown corp offers better rates, they can argue that it's destroying local businesses and eliminating jobs.
Defunding public healthcare in the name of private sector "efficiency".
Protect universal public health care and introduce a Universal Health-Care Guarantee: publicly funded treatment through another qualified provider when medically recommended surgical wait benchmarks are exceeded.
Lorne Doerkson’s Plan for a Stronger BC
Sounds like dual-system where you can pay for better service (but they'll keep the universal health care limping along for anyone who can't pay).
Reversing NDP's housing policies.
We are going to overhaul the step code
Source was party leader in YouTube (see bcballot for link). BC Energy Step Code lets local gov'ts incentivize energy efficiency in new construction beyond the requirements of the base building code.
Cut construction taxes and charges. Tackle the costs and delays that stop new homes and neighbourhoods being built. Scrap unnecessary charges that add to construction costs, and restore choice in energy for home heating and cooking
Build for families. We will dramatically shorten approvals for communities seeking family-oriented growth, including in beautiful new neighbourhoods.
Lorne Doerkson’s Plan for a Stronger BC
"restore choice" sounds like reducing environmental regulations. "family-oriented growth" could mean "non-urban wealthy neighbourhoods."
Freezing infrastructure spending unless it is car infrastructure.
• Stop TransLink’s car tax. Amend the South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority Act so TransLink cannot put a tax or levy on owning or registering a car.
• Protect driver choice. End the zero-emission vehicle sales quota and you choose the vehicle that works for your family and work
Lorne Doerkson’s Plan for a Stronger BC
The "car tax" is likely the levy the NDP declared they're not doing (so it doesn't exist). There's also fuel taxes which help pay for Translink (but apparently not enough due to rising fuel efficiency).

what does Sciel say? You need to see things as they are and not how you want them to be.
Oh, I didn't remember this! Isn't that something Renoir says in Act 3? I think Verso repeats it to Maelle too?
dddbbb
I think I was lvl 45 at the paintress and I recoated several party members to max out their stats that best scale with their weapon. For example, Verso had a lvl 20 Dualiso which scales A with Vit and B with Def, so I gave him 99 Vit and everything else in Def. All other stats at 0 because I have him health, crit, speed with Pictos. I had a +1000 health picto (maybe from inside monolith?) and +23% crit picto (from Serene merchant) at this point. Also had lots of base attack Lumina for Verso's Dualiso.
I'm not very good at parrying, but managed to hit half of them. Maelle laid on tons of Burn (lvl 19 Brulerum and Double Burn picto) which did 9999 damage each turn and all of my party had Healing Fire so they got big heals for dealing damage. I didn't use healing skills, but probably several revive tints.
I only found one Grandiose Chroma Catalyst (not sure where I got it, hadn't unlocked Esquié fly or swim yet), so only one lvl 20 weapon.
Also, you're in Act 2, there's a bunch more game to go!! Good luck.

If you accumulate lots of Recoats, then actually use some. I switched my Burn dealer from Lune to Maelle and getting to explore more of the skill tree was fun. I think I finished the main story with >10 of them and only used ~5. Kinda wish I'd used them more to try out builds centred around some key Skills.
One other thing that's unique about Clair Obscur: it generally doesn't punish you for choosing a different path. When you have to pick a single character to do a special battle, I believe you can get all the rewards later in the game. You might miss something if you don't take a path and I read online that you can't get back to the first mime encounter, but mostly you don't need to check that you're making the "right" choices. It was really liberating to stop worrying and just trust the game to give me a good time.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness about an OSI licence. Hope you have success with Brutal!

expanding rule 3 to clarify that free tools must provide technical discussion and answer community questions
Oh, that's awesome! Thanks for working to make this sub better!
dddbbb
I did it in 5 min by using only free aim and energy tint. Never use base attack. But I only got 17,373 XP how did you get so much?! I'm level 50.
Used Monoco's Fragaro (from the merchant in water area of monolith) because it does double damage shots. Also removed all break Lumina and put Burning and Marking Shots on everyone. I had Weakness Gain picto on Lune, but I'm not sure whether it counted.
Got it on my second try!

Over 60% of our sales come from China.
We have a publisher handling China, Korea, and Japan
Maybe they would have sold well in China anyway, but it's not easy getting coverage in places where you don't speak a common language. With a ton of sales in China, I'd guess their publisher got them coverage from some Chinese influencers, which seems to be important in that market.
Take that Money and learn marketing on Social Media.
What social media? How are you going to establish a Weebo presence? How are you going to figure out how to communicate?
Chinese players didn't like the "meat pigeon" part of my last game and we only understood what that meant because we had a Mainlander on the team (pronounced like ro-ge, means roguelike). Our game was hard and we failed to sell that in our Chinese store text and got nailed in reviews for being too difficult and not having elements that market expects (pay to win??). A regional publisher should help you navigate these issues.

In particular, Vancouver Public Library - Central Library branch downtown is a cool-looking building so it's in tons of film and TV.
See also sites like destination vancouver where you can look up film locations.

OoT was the first 3D game that impressed me. That title screen of Link riding Epona across Hyrule field is still evocative of the incredible adventure and combat in that game.

I thought Bytepath seemed like a good tutorial and each tutorial section has exercises for you to do on your own to ensure you actually understand what you're learning.
It says you should have basic programming understanding which it sounds like you might. If it goes over your head, try codecombat.com to get those fundamentals.

The same underlying tech but with different approaches. Skype was person to person communication, but Zoom is for meetings. Not sure anyone was thinking of Skype at the time. I remember in 2020, Google Meet didn't support displaying more than 9 people in gallery view, but Zoom supported my whole team (20 ppl?). Doesn't seem like a big innovation, but it meant you could look around your screen just like looking around a stand-up circle.
I dislike Zoom for a lot of reasons, but they really led the pack in early COVID work from home times.

Love reservations if I can make them from my phone.
Stayed and Moon Palace a couple years ago and I think most restaurants allowed reservations via their app. I don't remember waiting for our tables and could cancel if we changed our minds. Made a reservation almost every dinner so we'd never have to wait for a table (I believe some restaurants also had first come tables).
Stayed at Lindo Riviera Maya and if I remember right you can also optionally use the app to make reservations, but the Iberostar app is terrible and often shows the wrong time for restaurants. So it varies a lot.
But I remember when our kids were young and we didn't get a reservation at a restaurant, we had to wait so long that we gave up and went to the buffet to feed the hungry little monsters before they went berserk. (That was probably Hacienda Tres Rios which didn't have an app so you called concierge or went early to the restaurant to make a reservation.)
I don't think I've stayed anywhere that made me wait long if I was punctual for my reservation. I hate waiting, so it's definitely worth it!
I remember staying elsewhere years ago and you had to make reservations the day before at the front desk. Terrible system and I didn't like having to plan so far ahead on vacation, so we only made a couple. Check if your destination has an app or website!

Beware of learning solely from the LLM. They often don't give novel solutions and often follow bad practices (there's tons of examples of bad practices in the net and in their training data).
Read Code Complete, Game Programming Patterns, or AI Game Pro and make sure you're also learning from expert humans.

Top down, side view, and isometric games give you an overview of the world that you don't get from a direct control perspective camera. They're god views instead of person views, so the designer doesn't have the same ability to control what the player sees.
Have you watched GDC-style talks about your favourite isometric games?
Searching for gdc isometric level design doesn't turn up many obviously iso results, but I wonder if many designers don't think of it that differently and would apply the same abstract principles (lock and key, etc). Example
how big buildings should be in relation to characters, how to deal with the edge of the map
I suspect these are particular to each game.

Try finding a tutorial that makes a basic version of what you want. Then close the tutorial and add new features that seem interesting or steer it closer to your vision. Start small. Keep adding features and playing it to see what jumps out as interesting.
For your first, try to avoid making something too systems heavy (eg., imsim) because those often don't feel good/interesting until lots of your systems are implemented and interacting.
dddbbb
if we're being a little dishonest when we say "difficulty is just accessibility, it doesnt change the game."
I thought when people say that they mean adding an Easy mode doesn't change the Normal mode.
Ultimately for developers, adding difficulty modes means making multiple versions of your game. You can make very similar games that may be very easy to develop. Or you could make them significantly different (eg., A stealth game where guards cant see you isnt a stealth game anymore) and you may need to do more work to ensure they're still interesting (or still completeable!).
If there's any doubt that this is correct, the law says:

There's also a "When rapid intermittent flashes of green light" paragraph, but it doesn't mention anything about the light being red presumably because you follow the regular red light rules.
