Why the downvotes? It’s true that everyone behaves badly when fear is the main component. Judgement will be clouded, and bad decisions will result.
Look at what happens when idiots vote from fear and swallow lies, for example.
Training, practice, and determination will overcome fear. Sitting on the couch watching crash videos or dreaming up what-if scenarios is self-defeating.

Becoming comfortable comes easier than you think.
I rode for two seasons, sporadically, before pausing due to other commitments and overall wanting a different bike but without the means to get it.
Bought a new bike, a lot of money for me. It’s heavier, far more capable etc. Having ridden nothing for 2 years, and less than 200miles total, I had anxiety leading up to delivery day. Decided to ride it home.
Puttered around the dealership parking lot several laps before saying I ready to head out into the local traffic. Everything went fine. I discovered I still knew how to ride.
Later that evening I dropped it in an empty parking lot while practicing U-turns. Did not realize how it happened until a few hours later when old lessons kicked in (too late). But there was no reason to feel frustrated or fearful.
Fear’s the wrong word. It’s anxiety. Genuine fear, don’t ride. Anxiety goes away with determination to practice.
Practice alone won’t be enough because you will make mistakes and without determination to improve, you’ll have fear.

Didn’t read the comments but if you’ll take it as a learning experience all the frustration will evaporate.
And if you want to buy cold weather gear and continue to ride, that’s OK too.

I’m also tired of people demanding electricity and food while complaining about the costs of healthcare. It’s time to take real personal responsibility, amirite?

If voters pass this year’s Amendment 3, it will not be because they want to restrict abortions or had “second thoughts” about it.
It’ll be because Republicans lied about Amendment 3 being an abortion ban and lie about it protecting women. All that is a lie.
In a way, it’s a voter-intelligence test, and includes the added test to see if voters will agree to ban things already not possible (surgeries without consent etc)

AI works best when it’s used intentionally, not casually. It hallucinates when asked for judgement or to expand much beyond first inputs. Then it becomes creative writing for entertainment.
No AI can make judgements even though recommendations will be interpreted that way by humans not interested in thinking.
If you upload the service manual, and tell it to use the service manual, AI isn’t going to spit back directions applicable to some other bike.

I follow a smaller-channel YouTuber who recently began a Route 66 journey starting from Chicago. He said he's not using GPS or maps ... and my first reaction to that is, how is that possible when the old Route 66 route doesn't even exist? I would not expect consistent historical markers to exist, although I know they do in parts of it.

A good tip, thanks for sharing that suggestion about adding waypoints to force the nav. I've heard other platforms benefit from that sort of direct planning, also.

I somehow found ways to get into legit trouble years ago, in far slower vehicles.
Faster capability does not equal less safe. Lack of impulse control is always the real risk.

I rode my brand-new bike home Saturday, and later that afternoon dropped it in a parking lot while practicing u-turns incorrectly.
Snapped off the end of the clutch lever, some scrapes on the bar end, one small on rear rack, and cracked a side fairing. Tank untouched.
deckeda
You can mitigate its comparatively infinite power with clutch and throttle.
It’s the added weight at slow speeds that should concern you. And the different position and so on.
Also, it’s OK not to buy deal items.

I guess I'm not clear what a more capable bike would get you on the street. I mean, it's the street.
If you said you're a track rat looking to improve your skillset there, it would make sense to upgrade and realize the benefits there. But the street? And while keeping your license? And paying insurance? Not for me.
deckeda
Now it makes sense. You're responding to someone else's reply. It happens.

Interesting. Leaving the path boundaries wasn't an option when I took the MSF a few years ago.
Nearly botched my final test on Day 2, which was start with immediate turn, accel hard to at least 25, hard (complete) stop, instant go again into a long sweeper and come to a stop inside the box afterwards.
After the hard stop, I start towards the long sweeper but whisky throttled all the way around the sweeper. I legit could not understand why my hand would not make the throttle slower. Lizard brain lied, said "throttle is broken/wide open, best of luck."
Determined NOT to leave the lane and yeet myself straight off the range and down into the large rocky ravine, I yanked the clutch and friction-zoned it the whole way, foot peg scraping the ground, rider coach waving his arms and screaming at me. Not sure what a Kawa Eliminator 125 can do in 2nd gear but I think it's a lot more than the curve suggested.
Came out and to a calm stop in the box. Slowly rode over to join my classmates, who were either white as a sheet or clapping furiously. When the coach gave me my certificate he asked if his bike still has any clutch left.

"You also seem pretty insistent that procreation should be irrelevant."
It was a joke, and one not supported by my insistence, to be fair. My apologies for not announcing that I was mocking you. Sex-for-fun despite being Catholic is most of the Catholics I know, never mind what they're told about birth control.
Please let me know why you're agitated, despite ignoring the references in the Bible that indicates life begins with breath. Are you unfamiliar with it, or just don't care? No wrong answers here.

claiming-to-know-exactly-what-relationship-with-God-that-someone's-soul-has
"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you."
He knows you, too.
and ... end scene
deckeda
Yes! Makes procreation irrelevant: No need to procreate since God already knows you.
But wait! You won't know Him until you're born. Drat. That entire "being born" thing seems like such a hassle, amirite?
deckeda
That's not an easy question, I mean, with your false premise just sitting there out in public.
What's even weirder is if I thought Trump somehow influenced inflation when Biden was president despite literally saying "do not actually" and "except."
Honest question, can regressives not read? Or do they not care to? What do you believe?
deckeda
Freedom of religion only exists if there is also freedom from it. You asked for clarity, there it is.
Naturally, you can disagree, just like you disagree with every credible medical expert (and the Bible) that defines life as happening at birth and not before.
deckeda
Yes, but it's the character trait of self-hatred that anyone can have, gay or straight.
Homosexuality doesn't make him evil, but that said, lots of things can be handled badly and make people idiots. He's probably just independently sociopathic.
deckeda
Hi, can you expand on what you mean by, "go over the lines of the curve?" Inside or outside the curve?
I recall being taught in MSF not to brake hard in a corner (front brake) or else you might low side.
deckeda
Whomever downvoted you forgot that unbalancing the center of mass is what leads to lean.

Presidents do not actually influence gasoline prices. Or milk. Or eggs. Or much of anything, overall.
... except for Trump, who directly found a way to do so with his war that Republicans aren't bothered by.
I’d be inclined to keep the bike running with proper parts and exit the scene if it ever catches fire.
Switches and extinguishers won’t improve any situation for what it take to implement them with any guarantee of success.
