How long did it take for your jumper to warm up to you? Did any of you have one that remained shy for your entire time keeping them? (old.reddit.com) [:bluehelp: Advice]

The ending of Resident Evil (2026) betrays the "feeling like playing the games" theme the film was going for. (i.redd.it) [General] [spoiler]

And then drivers will act like you're being unreasonable when you "jaywalk" instead of walking a quarter mile to the nearest legal crosswalk.

I just got it off of woot as well. There's some degree of customization within the screen, but it doesn't let you fine tune the rgb values. Just choose off of pre-set colors and animations.
It also has a display for the volume knob but it doesn't line up with the PC's volume without a driver. Not really a dealbreaker for me tbh.

Lady Cassandra from Doctor Who
She technically still has a body, but it's just a piece of skin stretched on a frame with her face in the middle. Her brain sits in the jar at the bottom of the frame. She constantly needs people to spray her with water leading to the infamous catchphrase "Moisturize me!"

I still think about the ending of this movie to this day. Such a horrible way to go

So many people don't understand this. I work in alarm systems. Whenever people ask me why I don't tie things down so tight and straight, it's because I know all those ties are gonna get cut whenever there's an issue to troubleshoot or a configuration change to be made. Obviously, I don't leave a bird's nest, but I always leave room for future technicians to move things around, and sometimes that does look a bit like a mess.

I do put a lot of decorations near the top with plenty of places to hide, but funnily enough he likes being out in the open. His main hammock is right on top of the highest leaf

I never thought about the perfumes! I wash my hands before doing anything in the enclosure but the scent from the soap probably does throw him off.
I see him always staring at me when I'm in my computer desk across from his enclosure so I know he's curious about me, but he just always get shy the moment I get close 😂

That's what I'm hoping for too! Despite my gripes, I fully can see all the interesting directions this ending can take us in a sequel.

I'm kind of getting sick of this thread and people acting like I'm saying this decision was wrong or bad, or that I hate the movie cuz of it. I really don't appreciate being called obtuse.
I never said Zach Cregger isn't allowed to end his movies the way he wants to. But just like he's allowed to have artistic license, I'm allowed to have an opinion on it. And my opinion is that the ending, and really only the ending, is the least "Resident Evil" part of the movie. RE games always let the main protagonists of the story defeat a boss at the end and escape alive.
All your reasons for the ending are valid. It definitely still works as a horror movie ending as you described, and is on par with the endings of Barbarian and Weapons. I also agree it does a great job at showing at how fucked up the Umbrella scientists are.
Like I said, I enjoyed this movie. I had a great time with it, and it evoked the same feelings in me as the games for most of this runtime. I was disappointed in the ending at first but I still found the entire lab scene funny and entertaining. All I'm saying is that as far as Resident Evil endings go, this wasn't very faithful.

At least there's plenty of ceiling above you to deal with it. I've seen messes like this but in cramped 2 foot high plenums. Absolute nightmare.

I think the fandom as a whole needs to chill tbh, people are allowed to share their opinions and you're clearly not saying anything in bad faith.
Thank you, this is also why I don't like talking to people online about Star Wars or Halo anymore. I'm a little shocked because the Resident Evil fanbase always came off as mostly chill to me up until this point.
Really, I just hate the notion that you need to either fully love a thing or fully hate it. It's running through the discourse of nearly every movie or game coming out these days. I said multiple times that I love this movie, I just dislike this one aspect of it, yet people are acting like I'm giving the movie a 0/10.
deiphiz
I actually was smiling a bit in that scene like "ha, we finally get to see what happened in the lab before we get there in the games"

I also thought a bit more about why that optimistic aspect of Resident Evil really resonated with me the most to the point of making this post.
My first Resident Evil game was RE7, and when I played it I was in a very low point in my life. But despite all the terrifying and downright disgusting shit that game puts you through, it made you feel like you overcame it in the end. Playing through that really made me feel like I could get through anything in life. Every RE game I played since then always gave me that feeling.
Like I said in my other comments, I'm not against tragic endings. I'm not against a game over screen as the ending. But it's a movie simply called "Resident Evil" where the promise of the director was that it was gonna play out just like how a Resident Evil game would. To be fair, he did accomplish that for 98% of the runtime, but it just lost me in the end.
That said, despite all my complaining here, the ending didn't sour the rest of the movie that much for me. I still had an incredible fun time with it, and I'm definitely gonna be seeing it again sometime this month.
deiphiz
You get it. I love Silent Hill as well. I loved the hell out of Backrooms and Obsession this year and both of those had tragic "unsatisfying" endings. But that's an aspect I never associated with Resident Evil. Hell, even RE9 was literally all about having hope as a central theme.
But as many others and the general majority pointed out, the movie is a monster origin story and I can behind that. Honestly, I should've saw it coming when Brian started monologuing in his voice notes.
deiphiz
Did you read beyond my first paragraph?
deiphiz
I appreciate your comment. I'm getting a lot of downvotes so I think I put a really hot take here, but your comment helped me the most to see why.
I still stand that a movie just titled "RESIDENT EVIL" without a subtitle should still be about a main character overcoming things the same way a usual RE protagonist would, but I can get behind the idea of this story being like the Bakers or the outbreak victims.
deiphiz
You know what, I could get behind that. He was a dick for not telling the scientists.
deiphiz
Zach Cregger himself said that he wanted to craft the movie in a way that watching gives you the same feeling as playing the game. That's the mindset I brought into it, and the movie did an amazing job at that for the majority of the runtime. I personally think it makes sense for us to treat Bryan as a main character in that sense. I was hoping for a main character ending with everything the movie was giving to me by that point, not a side character ending.
deiphiz
I personally don't think it's on the same level. Ethan fought and defeated Miranda himself. He had a noble sacrifice and saved the people he cared about in the end. His death had meaning to it. He also was no longer a rookie in Village when I'm specifically talking about characters who grow into competent fighters in their first appearances.
Bryan's death had no meaning besides showing how hopeless the Raccoon City incident was and how incompetent the Umbrella scientists were. It's needless cynicism that never really existed in the series before.

Call me old school but I still like the simplicity of an aux cable. Also makes it easy if you wanna pass it over to a passenger to play music.
I just use a USB-C adapter that lets you charge simultaneously. I ran the cable so it's always right next to my phone holder.
