Can't tell who is more pathetic, this woman actual saying she can't name three good things about her daughter or this garbage ass website publishing this.

The only thing I've ever seen hard deleted on production are PII data due to laws and things that are insanely old being moved to cold storage, I think the majority of cases in orgs are soft deletes.

Google, netflix, even microsoft (lmao) and the majority of fintech/neo bank/bank bank organizations all have java positions.

Ok no offence but a little less time in reddit communities might be best, they tend to trend towards being echo chambers.
My hairline isn't what it was when I was in my twenties either. Realistically, the only place with ageism that's certain are startups started by predominantly young people- it's unlikely for a group of 18-30 year olds to want to work with someone their dad's age.
Every other place I've been has had people 50+.

I don't think a single person in the world, while at their job, cares whether you have a bald spot brother.

The anecdote about your friend's book is pretty weird, as I doubt anyone would read that garbage.
I code manually for fun (and learning) a lot, I also have recently began using AI a lot more at work as the Opus 5.5 generation of models is the first one that's good enough for me to accept using at work.
There's also absolutely no art in writing the same enterprise X-pattern code for the 400th time it was fun maybe the first 2-3 years of my career - though there's still that nice feeling when starting with an empty project for some greenfield development, I still write all critical and/or core business logic myself anyway.
Anyway, AI is a nice tool but requires responsible use. I also don't oppose AI in art, because it still requires an artist to command it.
I've seen some pretty cool short clips made with AI which I'd never have the imagination or directing skill to create, same with AI music, and same with programming

I review at my pace. If management whines for faster I explicitly state the review was done under time constraints

That's a lot of words to simply say it's not an atomic operation.

What do you mean older talent though? I've worked with countless 50-60 year olds, but after that you really are getting into retirement territory and no matter the industry hiring someone ~5 years before retirement in a fresh job isn't usually on a company's todo list

Why are you comparing interviews to to exams though - the natural order is you do interviews after you've finished exams.
Do you think a lawyer finishes their education and goes into some insane high paying position? Other professions (that require a lot of education) also have extremely competitive interview processes (and a lot more ass licking) for the top echelon of jobs.

Software has always (in the last 20 years) been one of the lowest barrier to entry "good" professions in the world, and honestly still is comparatively. It was never respected like the other big ones

None of these are hard by themselves, what is hard is fitting them into existing systems with ridiculous requirements by management and/or integrating with companies with (somehow) even worse developers than the ones working at your org

A bit niche for projects with a bunch of inline SQL/xml/json literals, but Intellij IDEs have a "copy string concatenation to clipboard" command for languages (or versions of languages, looking at you java 8) that don't support multiline strings.

You have to go to github gym and take github steroids

We use AI (agents, we use AI as google regardless) primarily for internal tooling that can not affect production. We write production code by hand since the liability if something goes wrong is very high.
Our internal tooling has become a lot better, I've improved many tools that I maintain used by other teams quite quickly and our infrastructure/platform engineering teams have also speedran some goodies.
Critical systems in production can go through AI review (enterprise "share nothing" models (lmao, surely)), but the code is not generated by AI.

Dear VS Code Java
Why are you doing this to yourself?
I use VS Code for basically anything but Java, the difference is night and day and I suggest switching to IDEA.
Anyway see if there's something like enable annotation processing or an equivalent Lombok plugin for VSCode, alternatively clear local caches.

I've worked with multiple "faang" (and ex faang) developers whose primary skill is working with internal tooling and navigating endless beurocracy, not sure what it proves exactly.
Also, it's extremely weird how people keep saying faang, fruit faang, non google faang, and so on. Is it about being doxxed in companies with tens to hundreds of thousands of employees?

Are there any examples on non ios? I feel like Apple just permenantly has an RCE exploit available for shits an giggles

I'm backend in a fintech adjacent domain.

Sure if that's the extent of what you mean by clean code, you can just write code and use a static analysis tool like sonarqube to view your mistakes.
disposepriority
Not at all, on the contrary with more devs having 0 idea how the system works I feel like I've become more valuable and take liberties in my job I wouldn't otherwise have taken.
Also, if AI could replace any % of the engineering team with no loss to the business they would have done that faster than you can make an AI spam post on reddit, businesses aren't charities.
disposepriority
Ai will replace every programmer who can't sear h for how often this is posted
disposepriority
Sure all you have to do is find a universally agreed upon definition for clean code!
disposepriority
That's not a job.
I have no idea what you're talking about, have you heard about tests?
