You eat a lot of shit in med school especially on OB rotations. Don’t let it get to you.
donkey_xotei
Not a PA but reading all the comments saying OP needs to deal with this themselves and won’t ever make it as a PA is wild. We’re all human and sometimes we need help and support. I don’t think I would have made it this far in life if I didn’t have support.
donkey_xotei
Dude it’s only like October.

MD, DDS Oral surgeon here. Yeah some dentists are scammy, that said, I don’t get paid by deep cleaning but many of my patients are always older ones who come in for multiple extractions and all of them have severe periodontal disease. It is extremely under diagnosed. All of those patients tell me they wished they had taken better care of their teeth. Not telling you to get or not get the deep cleaning since I don’t have any X-rays and can’t see your gums, but do with that information as you will. If you’ve been told, the outcome is on you not the dentist.

In surgery we would transfuse if hct is below 23-24%.
donkey_xotei
Tell them you got an optometry appointment

If the average is 60+ then good luck everybody.
donkey_xotei
I would go against the grain and say I wouldn’t retake if you are only looking for 4 year. You could, but many of our 4 years score around that, most lower. Also, you need a noncat if you’re out of dental school, that’s what is stopping you. Don’t worry about the retake and just do a noncat.

Dude looks like he’s 27 years old dam what’s his diet

Like I said, it’s not about comfort, it’s about knowing how to manage complications and fixing it. I doubt perio can fix a botched zygoma hell I won’t even talk about GP.
donkey_xotei
Neither of these work independently. There is always a surgeon and an anesthesiologist.

Falls and fears for life, then he’s suddenly like “wait I’m a boxer”
donkey_xotei
If someone trusts a robot to do the sedation under their license then they’re the idiot.
donkey_xotei
There’s a lot more to education and knowledge than just providing the standard of care. Any GP can place a zygo, hell a dental student can but the education isn’t there to manage complications. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons spend a ton of time at the zygoma and even they’re sometimes not willing to place the implant for certain cases, so why should a periodontist or even a GP who know nothing do it?
Also we don’t badmouth anyone who refers to us either.
donkey_xotei
Boooo give us what we want
donkey_xotei
I think you misunderstood my comment. I have an MD. I’m writing to question what they’re smoking for saying it takes anything less than 3 years.
donkey_xotei
No benefits to stay. You don’t realize you should’ve just transferred until you’re almost done.
donkey_xotei
I mean think about, we’re all trying to get into med or dental school, we’re all on top of our classes, but if so many people say it do you think we’re just registering too late? It’s the system that’s bad.
donkey_xotei
Most advisors have no clue what they’re doing so it tracks that your advisor says that because the average accepted MD score is 512 and DO is 503 according to Google. If you got 517 and wanted to go to med school you should be applying to MD schools.
donkey_xotei
Yep. Classes were full the moment my time to register came.

I’m a resident and my wife is something else that makes similar pay, our total income is $120k post tax. I pay roughly $6k a month for a nanny. It’s tough but we manage to live paycheck to paycheck albeit with significant savings from prior jobs. Sometimes we have to dip into savings for a couple hundred but usually we don’t. I’m not sure how an ortho and ED who would make 5-10x we do would not afford a nanny.
donkey_xotei
I mean it’s gonna happen, in terms of health care competitiveness, med school is probably the most competitive, and dental school is probably second, so you’ll have people who couldn’t get into med school. That being said, on average dental school matriculants are probably competitive for DO school, so it’s not like they couldn’t get into med school.
donkey_xotei
I agree. Hunter was a giant PITA and I still graduated but had to ePermit many of my classes at Brooklyn college, then realized I should’ve just went to Brooklyn in the first place.
Might be you buddy
