I think it's because we have so much enjoyable food around, very cheap (relative to 50-100-200 years ago), very easy to get and once our brains are hooked to the joy of eating it's almost impossible to let it go. To be fit in a world like this it's a constant battle.

I'm on the same boat as you. Cardano simply snowballed this year but don't think that growth is sustainable longer term.
