Yeah, the author confirmed on twitter she didn't pick the headline.

Red Star FC was founded by Jules Rimet himself in 1897 :-)

Red Star FC is for the real ones, the turnout in Saint-Ouen can get mental

There's one in Harlem!

Are we thinking of the same social workers? Their pay is generally horrifically low.

For São Paulo - in the summer sort of, but winter is around 12C-20C. The country is big, so the north is closer to Singaporean weather but inland it gets cold!
duosharp
No, I'm just here for a work trip but I have lots of close Brazilian friends from all over the country
duosharp
It's chill, most parts of Brazil are quite safe. Each city has its own shadier spots, but generally if you don't make yourself a target or seek out trouble it's fine.

Sorry guys (I'm wearing my admin tee in the Sāo Paulo countryside right now)

Sakho makes the bench at least, over O Brien!

I'm familiar with those, and definitely recommend them!

I'm 40 pages in (found a signed copy and couldn't say no) and I'd love to hear your thoughts about the Empusium!

Bought them for ~$2.50 a kilogram in Tuscany, the local fishermen are glad to get rid of them. Delicious steamed

Malaysia Grill is permanently closed I believe, as of a fortnight ago :-(

To be fair, claiming the CAF is usually an awful experience even for the French :-)

Isn't it the other way round? With Western Armenians being the diaspora often in the ME, and Eastern Armenian being closer to the Caucasus/spoken under the Soviet-era Republic. But I agree, even the little differences in pronunciation and vocabulary are tricky to catch - what does your boyfriend speak?

Legend!

I've had a damn good version in a Vietnamese restaurant in Paris's suburbs, of all places. Even the chilli was almost the same.

Mate, I'm working with an organisation that documents the Armenian genocide and its effects on the diaspora and just got back from Yerevan. If discussing one of the biggest historical authorities in the field is cherry-picking sources, you might need to pick up a book again, and go beyond just your cursory looks :-)

Obviously historians are still debating the exact causes of the genocide, but no serious scholar would argue that Turkish nationalism and formation of the state played no factor and that it stems from political Islamism.
On my phone so just pasting part of an excellent review of a leading book in Armenian genocide studies, by Ronald Suny
Traditionally, historians have assessed the genocide, as the Ottoman Emperor’s (the sick man of Europe), almost final attempt to retain his power by creating a homogeneous ethnic nation state. Suny, however proposes, an alternative assessment. He suggests that the overlapping modernisation processes of the old European empires, especially the austro-Hungarian Russian and Ottoman empires should be understood in tandem with the appearance of the modern nation-state system as a fresh analytical tool to encompass the origins of the Armenian genocide. These processes, he argued, served to push the Ottoman Empire to redefine itself, and its geographical, ethnic and religious boundaries, as a hybrid modern empire nation state.
So we can debate whether it's nationalism or a desire to save the Ottoman Empire, but simplifying it down to religion does no one any good.

The history of the current French Republic is more than just the history of two powerful parties, it's not helpful to frame this through American bipartisan narratives. In fact, the Gaullists have now become a junior partner of the far-right... Macronism, which promised a new way, also now appears dead. What sorts of notes do we take from that?

A player? Put some respect on Crystal Palace and Vancouver Whitecaps legend Jordon

Okay cheers, I like archaeology but I like staying safe more.
What other similar sites would you recommend I check out?

Sure, but it's led to the de facto endangerment of many of these Chinese languages. For many Singaporeans a couple of phrases here and there when ordering food or cursing as a NSF isn't the same as using them conversationally.
4 years later, I still know nothing about Matthews other than what he looks like
