I don’t know if anyone else has actually listened to the interview, but this is only one of a number of what-ifs they discuss. He’s not predicting this exact scenario.

They did, it just lived out on the farm.

My high school had an auto mechanics class where we did both book learning on how cars work, and practical stuff like oil changes. One of the most useful classes I ever took.

Crackle Mi has big Banh Mi sandwiches for as low as $10.

Neither are terribly likable, but I have great sympathy for both of them, growing up in that household.

The Count of Monte Cristo starts out a little slow, but pretty soon it really picks up, and is a great page turner.

We did the drive from Alabama to NC every year, and those “Pedro says…” billboards really helped with the boredom for 100 miles or so.

Happy to help. It’s one of my favorite dishes.

That’s not really what happens. If PE buys a company for $100M, the company doesn’t have $100M to invest in the business. The company’s former owners have $100M, and typically they’re walking away with that cash to do whatever. Sometimes the employees will get a small cut if they had options.
Not only does the company not get a cash infusion, the PE likely borrowed most of the money they used to buy out the old owners, and that loan gets put on the company’s books as debt. So now the company’s profit has to be used to pay off the debt, and a popular way to increase profits is to cut costs, especially employees.
Meanwhile the PE firm gets paid management fees, so they’re siphoning off money each year. I’ve heard PE described as being similar to a bond because of this - they aren’t necessarily trying to score a massive win like VC is, they’re trying to beat the market.
I’m not an “all PE is evil” person. Having exit options other than going public probably helps startups get funded in the first place. But I’ve worked places where we deeply cared about the company we were building, and seeing a bunch of MBAs in suits come in with their spreadsheets for how to squeeze an extra half percent is demoralizing, and I think unhealthy for society long term.

The way Chris says “I DID-N’T!” when Tony accuses him of doing smack, at Ralph’s for the cleanup. Perfect delivery.

Not a saying, but I can’t get enough of the word flimflammed.

Yes, two during the pandemic. Both older with other health problems, but nothing that would have killed them if they hadn’t gotten COVID.
I also know several people whose lives were dramatically changed by long COVID. Loss of energy, loss of taste, vertigo, etc. Some have gotten better.
None of these people were anti-vax or anti-mask at all. Really sucks.

I do really like the limited - and visible - inventory aspect of this game. No bag of holding with a hundred things you forgot you had. I'll use blue tape or something to keep all the little slips of paper from flying all over the place, and see how it goes.
Looking at the pregen characters, it feels like backpack access during battle will mainly be an issue for spellcasters.

Thanks, I'll give it a try as is. My concern about space isn't so much that it's a single piece of paper, it's that it's a piece of paper (per person) with lots of little slips of paper all over it, which all have to stay in place as people are rolling dice, etc. Maybe I'll put a roll of blue painters tape on the table.
ecmcn
ok, thanks - I'll see how it goes. Hopefully when the real game comes out the cards will be easier to keep in place than the little slips of paper I printed out.

Growing up in NC (in the 80s) we’d go to the beach in the summer, and were required to clean the cottage thoroughly at the end of the week. That’s just how all of the rental agencies worked. At some point the agency offered a cleaning service that would do all of this for a fee, and my mom (who, let’s be honest, did most of the cleaning) said “heck yeah we’re paying that - this is vacation.”
What AirBnB should do is give people the option to clean it themselves and save some money, or pay a cleaning fee. That takes away a lot of the resentment on both sides, because I think everyone understands that someone has to clean the place.

That’s insane. I guess they’re going for the Queen Anne residents with too many nice cars for their house. And you get to hang out with your own kind.

Don’t count other peoples’ money.

I feel like there’s something slightly off with the trajectory of this thread.

Try medium high heat, turning to medium after the eggs cook a bit. Lots of fat when the pan is hot. Not crazy amounts like in some videos where the egg is sliding around in a puddle - maybe 2T or so.
After you add the eggs let them firm up a little, then swirl gently, trying not to run the spatula flat against the bottom and exposing a bare metal surface. Towards the middle and end you just want to be folding them, not pushing them around and wiping the fat off, though there will be some sticky spots you’ll want to get under and scrape up before they get really stuck like this. I’ll also break up some of the big pieces this produces, to get more even cooking.
I usually use cast iron but I had to use SS just the other day, and had good results. Good luck!

Imagine them doing a residency at the Sphere. I’d pay a crazy amount to see that.
I do 1c oatmeal in 2c chicken broth and 1/4c soy sauce. Can also stir in 2T oyster sauce at the end. Add some frozen spinach while it cooks if you like. Drizzle sesame oil and chili crisp and top with a fried egg.
