what a stupid non-answer that doesn't take anything whatsoever into consideration. Get off the internet you lowlife scum
efmx
I did not read every one of those links, but please do point me to the part where it says anyone is acting out from these opinions.
efmx
You know, very few people use the term "gay" to refer to positivity/happiness right?
Just saying, because that's the only way your usage of the word "gay" makes any sense in your post.
efmx
surely there exists a bash to JS transpiler
efmx
Typically what you should do is is use Oracle's Nashorn Java-based JS engine. This way, you can program vanilla JS but have all the power of Java to support you.
Java is suited to big data problems that agile enterprises prefer, and Nashorn doesn't support all the unnecessary browser extensions like DHTML/HTML5. Java also pays very well
efmx
so you have a very narrow mind when it comes to software engineering
efmx
or because you can make tonnes of money writing COBOL.
COBOL is a great language for what it was designed for.
efmx
You just want to hop onto the cool bandwagons in the hopes of being cool yourself.
HTTP hasn't changed since 1999 and everyone is happy with it.
When people make arguments like "this project hasn't be updated in years!" they never say what they expected to see as updates, suggesting the project has reached a point where it is nearly bug free and no new features are needed.
Technologists who go "new is better because it's new" are people whose opinions one can safely disregard.
-- EDIT --
Actually, HTTP 1.1 has been around since 1999. HTTP 1.0 has been around since 1990.
efmx
You should refrain from techno-ageism. Age is not an indicator of poor quality.
efmx
I do.
it's all fluff. Just use a simple ajax library and the DOM API and you're good to go.
efmx
it's considerably simpler to use plain javascript. all these abstractions on top of it accomplish very little.
efmx
Do you even cache bro?
efmx
That said, if you want JavaScript, you should probably just write JavaScript.
Sorry, but this is why we have tools like Emscripten, Babel, and so on. So we don't HAVE to write standard javascript.
efmx
How well can it compile to Javascript?

"don't deserve a whole story on their own"
Hey, you see those up and down arrows? Let the people decide what deserves a "whole story on its own". That's how reddit works.
Then again, this is /r/montreal so why would anyone expect good leadership this province?
efmx
No, I don't. This is fucking stupid. Reddit is a discussion forum, we shouldn't have to be limited to Friday to have random discussions about Montreal things or things that directly concern Montrealers. Idiotic, anti-community, mods should be fired.
efmx
are you aware of where you are sir?
efmx
this is my main account O_o
efmx
And that something is what exactly? That generosity is unfair? O_o
From the article:
Compared with the $10 to $15 an hour he could typically pull in Montreal, “here it could be $20 to $30 an hour,” he said. The commuting panhandler said he typically does one and a half hours of panhandling at a traffic light on St-Jean Blvd. on any given weekday, late in the afternoon. This can earn him the same amount as “three hours somewhere else.”
So he works a 90 minute rush hour shift at, let's say, $25 an hour. Do you think he will make $25 an hour between 1:30pm and 3pm?
Pan handling is not making more than minimum wage, so instead of being pissed off about that, get pissed off at your self for being duped by another Montreal Gazette circlejerk. That is kind of pathetic, and I laught at you for it.
efmx
You are indeed a spoiled twat.
For starters, welfare is hardly a living wage. Secondly, he might suffer from any number of shitty situations that would prevent him from getting a job, from a criminal record to mental illness to addiction. You're just assuming he's just like you, because you're a spoiled little twat who thinks the world revolves around you.
Your tag suggests you live in HoMo, so you shouldn't be so fucking blind to how bad the situation is in this province.
efmx
I did, then I read the comments about people complaining like it's not fair, and laughed at how pathetic they were.
You want $20 - $30 an hour like this guy? then do what this guy does. Go stand outside in the freezing cold begging for money. You'll have no pride, no self esteem, no health, no benefits, no stock options, no paid vacation, no EI, no stable income, but you'll be making $20 to $30 tax free which on face value is more than you make.
But really, shut up, and go pan handle, instead of complaining about it (not necessarily you, but everyone else who is complaining about it like spoiled little twats). If you think what this guy earns is unfair, unjust, or wrong, because you make less, that's entirely your problem, and instead of coming onto /r/montreal to say anything negative about this panhandler, go pan handle yourself and see how much better it is to be "self employed".
efmx
uh yeah, suburban sprawl is generally considered a bad thing. stop being a selfish cunt
efmx
so you support censorship?
efmx
Using your own estimates without any supporting facts to convince yourself that your own opinion is valid.
