How is comedy funny?

Isn't AI just another tool? Where do you draw the line on tools that are necessary for survival? After all, we've survived for a long time with many different toolsets. It sounds like you're advocating for a much simpler lifestyle devoid of most convenience tools. But if that were true, you wouldn't be using the internet because that contradicts the stance you're taking.

Hero. I hate Aptos in 12pt. My emails look like they were written by a child.

I think it was like Stack Exchange or something. Maybe Super User? I dunno, but I think it's a safe assumption that the entire Stack community is like this.

10 years ago I asked my first and only question on stackoverflow: "I like to keep certain Outlook emails open as a reminder to get to them, but it never remembers them when I reboot. How can I do this?"

Instantly flooded with downvotes. "Why would you ever want to do that?" Mocking replies. "hur DUR that's what reminders are for—learn how to use them LOL". Non-solutions. "How are you in a professional environment and asking this question?" Topic closed with a link to something irrelevant.

10 years later when you boot up Outlook, you get this prompt: "Outlook closed while you had items open. Reopen items from your last session?"

I like how the glowsticks went from green to red to indicate that the truck is in distress.

It's literally a parody of a porn meme.

That's what makes it funny any not about any of the things you're whining about.

eisbock

Can you give some examples and how they compare to other generations?

I think people are vastly underestimating how well you can do your job if you dump everything into AI. Yes, everybody else will know, and you'll still do dumb shit, but in certain roles, you will be probably be doing a better job overall. That's some uncomfortable truth redditors especially don't want to admit.

CEOs and C-suites love AI. They use it without shame and it's so obvious in their "pep talk" emails or other communication with the company. They probably think it's helping them do their job better, so why disqualify it?

eisbock

That kitchen island is sick bro. But you better get used to pissing in the sink.

If those wires are getting anywhere near hot enough to melt hot glue, the breaker would've tripped long ago. Though can't be too sure there's not a fuse filled with pennies in this setup...

eisbock

The problem is stupid things that work tend to work until they don't. That's when the thing becomes stupid.

eisbock

Christmas tree lights after you've just spent 2 hours stringing them up backwards.

eisbock

Tell me about it. Those lazy people using Google when there's a perfectly good volume of Encyclopedia Britainnica at the library.

eisbock

Also, in the event some troglodyte comes to a stop inches behind you, it gives you a little breathing room to creep forward, so if they get rear-ended you also don't get rear-ended.

eisbock

That's not the point. The point is getting to the point, something AI does very well to save me a lot of time. If I'm not satisfied with the CliffsNotes, then I can choose to delve deeper.

eisbock

ChatGPT, teach me how to replace my garage door springs.

The problem is the 3-4 spam calls I get daily (at the same time each day) are silent calls. So there's nobody to even try and scam me when I answer and the call screening immediately catches them, but they still show up in my notifications and badges, still wasting my time.

Spam calls are truly a horrible, awful thing, but once I learned about silent calls is when I pretty much lost all hope in the telecom industry. The idea that there are not enough scammers to call everybody so they just spray spam calls even if they don't have anybody available to do the scamming is one of those things that completely ruins the experience of having a phone.

eisbock

It's also clinical and business-oriented. Those bullets show a professional awareness of modern trends and ideas on how to capitalize on them. It's the exact thing a business should be doing. Amazing that people are mocking the behind-the-scenes brainstorming of effective marketing ploys that we fall for all the time.

eisbock

If it says trichloroethylene on the back, it's the good shit.

eisbock

What else could you possibly need on the dash?

eisbock

I thought he was gonna turn it around after that one but nope

eisbock

forcing it through a nozzle

Just don't go too small with the nozzle. I tried 3D printing some custom tips to achieve more of a jet-like flow for better keyboard cleaning, but quickly found that anything smaller than the stock nozzles that come with the blower actually result in worse airflow. Fans move a lot of air, but don't generate much pressure, so if your nozzle gets too small, you end up basically stalling the fan.
