Oh! I have a Mally too! I love the sweater on your little guy.

Why did my brain go “wow that’s a fancy outhouse. Needs a door tho.”

This is so crazy. I just found at an antique store the book that this illustration is from, April’s Kittens!

Most of my professors that taught in the UMSL/WashU program had day jobs at engineering firms as senior or management level engineers. So from a visibility standpoint, it’s better because if you have a good relationship with that professor they can either help with your job search after graduation or write a letter of recommendation.

As with a lot of professions, it’s who you know sometimes.

I’ve gone to both so maybe I can give you a good perspective! I graduated ArchE from S&T in 2005 and went back to school and got my CivilE in 2011.

If you want the typical college experience, for sure do S&T! Most students live in Rolla or on campus. I was on competition teams and joined societies based on my field. I was also a transfer student from East Central and I think I was about your age when I transferred to Rolla. Even though I was a bit older than other students, I wasn’t THAT much older and I fit right in. I also never joined any Greek societies and didn’t feel the need to (I’m a woman so I don’t know if it would be different for guy).

I was in my thirties when I went back to get my Civil degree, but I can say that UMSL and WashU (I had classes at both campuses) are commuter schools. UMSL for sure. I didn’t get the same feeling of community like I did at Rolla. WashU might be a little different as most of my classes there were at night.

Also, like a previous commenter said, engineering firms in STL freaking love S&T so that’s another leg up you’ll have if you go there.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I can try and answer them!

I have one of his frogs! Totally worth it to save up and get one! He makes me smile every time I look at him!

engineer_owl

This made me snort with laughter. Thanks, I needed that today!

engineer_owl

All hail the Snord!

engineer_owl

I freaking lost it when I swiped and saw the first thing. Thank you for making me laugh so hard this morning.

I’m someone who does buy pottery and has purchased pottery off of Etsy and I would have LOVED to have gotten a ceramic magnet as a free gift!

engineer_owl

It’s adorable! The sleeves look super cozy.

engineer_owl

Stitch is cute but I am in love with the suspicious frogs!

engineer_owl

On behalf of my boyfriend who has a huge head, that hat is just the right size, lol!

“…statement necklaces and rhinestones” As a fellow millennial, this made me cackle. I still have all my chunky necklaces from 2015 that never see the light of day anymore.

engineer_owl

Adorable!!!

engineer_owl

The site did go down, thanks for providing the write up!

My BFF totally had one of these in the 90’s and that’s what I slept on when I stayed over. They are commonly called a “Flip and Fuck” but I don’t know what they were officially called, lol

engineer_owl

Will do! I have a design I made and stitched that is comic book related but it is a gift for my boyfriend so I am going to wait until I give it to him before I post it!

engineer_owl

I know, I wish it wasn’t so complicated with copyright law for fan made items. I’ve seen people try to get around this by posting a Tie Fighter pattern as “spaceship pattern” lol

engineer_owl

More video game patterns! I’d love to find patterns for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or the Witcher. I’ve found a handful on Etsy but nothing that appeals to me. I am teaching myself how to make patterns just so I can stitch my favorite games.

engineer_owl

My boyfriend, who has a large noggin, would appreciate that hat!

engineer_owl

Makes sense! Thanks!

engineer_owl

How did you secure the edges of the fabric so that it doesn’t unravel?

engineer_owl

Adorable!

I think it’s supposed to mimic the hairstyle Spartan men wore but I haven’t done any research into her character design to know that that was what they were going for.
