enzer_pyro

Oh thank God.

enzer_pyro

I'm confident that you'd be able to run into a few active players. I play the game once every week for one.

enzer_pyro

No, your Download attack will just deal higher damage.

enzer_pyro

Not a whole lot to it in comparison to when it was still live. What's there could provide something of a decent challenge for a while.

All-in-all, I'm glad they went through with this to start.

enzer_pyro

The illustration is a double-page spread. So.

enzer_pyro

Ah. Do your best, TsugTsugu.

enzer_pyro

Iirc, it means "More Screentime".

enzer_pyro

As per usual, I love abec's art. Those orange hexagons on that blue-grey background remind me of .hack//IMOQ, or its box art (I think).

While I can't keep up at present, I'm keen on seeing what Silica's capable of. A focus on Team MORE DEBAN is welcome.

enzer_pyro

Five years is a good run. Sad to see it go, though.

enzer_pyro

This is really good. I'm sure there's at least more than one fan here though.

enzer_pyro

Yeah, Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is a game, this is just, among other items, a bonus disk included in the Collector's/Special Edition of the game.

enzer_pyro

Aw, that's a little unfortunate. Though I suppose either story goes on for quite a while. 'twas a good run.

enzer_pyro

I died inside. Thank you, Kaan. Very cool!

enzer_pyro

"The boss recommends retreat."

enzer_pyro

Yup. You'll see this kinda shot in a lot of anime.

enzer_pyro

THROW IT ALL AWAAAAAAY!!!

enzer_pyro

All stories have been told...

This whole sequence of events initiated by Alice transporting herself to Kirito's house via box is a lot more hilarious seeing it now. During their sparring session, I had the uneasy feeling of visualising Alice with a bit of a gait in her current state, though she seems to be going about things fairly well here, the «High Fluctlight-Style» Secret Skill: «Steel Headbutt» was such a nice line, this scene as a whole was rather cute, much is the case with Alice as a whole here.

The atmosphere of Kirito's talk with his uncle was pretty well-done, along some uplifting words spoken here.

Kirito really can't catch a break though, the second time that day.

Too bad we didn't get Alice and Asuna bickering. And well, space is, as per usual, beautiful. Weren't we supposed to see Admina too? Granted, Cardina was fantastic, I couldn't see much but it's interesting that the «Underworld» is something of a single piece of land o'er there.

Laura'nei and Steeka! The Mecha Dragons were cool to see in action, too. Though I expected the Abyssal Horror to be a lot more of something incomprehensible like Gabe than a common NM from HF. But then, seeing the trio meet and wave after all was said and done was what I was waiting for, I wished Eugeo would have been included with them waving as a group but this isn't so bad either.

And then came "ANIMA"...

These past two, well, eight years will not be forgotten. Filled with ups and downs, I'm glad to have been able to reach the point where I could finally watch what used to be the ending to Sword Art Online.

I thank thee for reading up to this point, I suppose, hopefully I was able to entertain a little with my nothings. I doubt I'd ever write these so-called "reviews" again in the future, but it truly has been a wonderful two years.

Next week... until we meet again.

enzer_pyro

Yeah, it's been quite a while since I read Moon Cradle. Her looking a bit older here just caught me off-guard.

enzer_pyro

Finally seeing this animated is really something else.

I kinda felt the atmosphere during that press conference to be pretty tense, I suppose the anime has managed to portray that well. Alice certainly was not happy. I did feel the way they animated her walking to be a tad stiff, probably. Her way of greeting everyone was real nice though.

Kiku-san will forever be remembered in our hearts...

Can't tell if it may have just been Kirito's mouth being dry or something like that but his voice when he woke up was partially deeper. Couldn't tell but Selka looked marginally older, too.

The memories of the start of their 200 year reign in the «Underworld», it may have never been left out to begin with but I loved every second of it, though I guess it'd be a bit much to animate Iskahn and Kirito trading a blow to their faces. Kikuoka-san seemed to be in a really good mood, ruining the moment like that, I feel like there was something of a description of his current appearance in the novel but this is fine too.

On to Higa-kun opening Pandora's Box... damn! That was so cool! You can tell it's Kirito but Star King's voice was pretty deep. Even more so when they finally showed his face. Expectedly not very different from Kirito as he is but there was a different aura to it all! Guess I can't blame Higa for being very excited about all this. These two meeting would be out of the world. All of that top-quality artwork... The 'underworld' theme appears to be Star King's theme, what with what was added on to it now. Well not really but it certainly added to the scene as a whole, or I may have not listened to it in its entirety.

And Kii-bou... Eugeo will be dearly missed. And I'm particularly happy that "I will..." played over that sequence, the second time this cour so I guess it makes it all the more special.

Things are only getting brighter from here on though. Next week, after these two long years, at long last: New World.

enzer_pyro

Like Kazuto said, the first-ever scene of the Alicization anime. Marking the beginning and the end of Alicization, something several other people might say.

enzer_pyro

It was a really good episode.

The Ocean Turtle parts certainly aren't a great deal eventful in general, but even in the novels, this sequence of events was particularly my favourite, mostly because of Kiku-san. His recklessness upset me a little.

Nice shot, Kiku.

I can't recall it oh so very well, but Alicia dragging Gabe to hell was done some real justice. Maybe it could have been more eerie but Gabriel and Vassago's corpses provided a lot in that department. How it all disappeared by the time Critter arrived was really, really good.

Kayaba sacrificing himself was exceptional, the animators really went all out with Niemon's metal. Him willing himself to go on despite everything was really good, the power of his non-existent heart.

But wait, there's more! He isn't there anymore.

I got a little worried when the credits started rolling. It was a touching scene. Made even better when they flew off together. The cherry on top though, was the butterfly and the flower. That came so far out of nowhere, I may as well have cried. Part of me wishes that "I will..." could have played over them departing from the 《World End Altar》.

And at long last, next week: Alice.

enzer_pyro

It was perfect, nothing more can be said of this.

It was nice to hear Kirito's thoughts for one, to see Eugeo again. I now understand what people were talking about in regards to Kirito taking a load of damage during this fight.

The «Release Recollection», Kirito enveloping the world with the Night Sky. The words of advice from Shasta, Lipia, Bercouli, Quinella and Cardinal. Eugeo's assist...

I do kinda wish "I will..." would have played under Kirito and Asuna's exchange right at the end of the episode though.

Next time: Beyond Time.

Good job, Kii-bou.

enzer_pyro

It was pretty great.

The panning shot is something of a nice contrast to the illustration in the LN, although it's too bad that they didn't focus on those that were in said illustration/spoke in that moment. Kiritard looked very cool though.

No matter what I do, I always can't seem to recall this scene with Eugeo assisting Kirito. But it at least put a smile on my face, we've had both Yuuki and Eugeo appear in the same episode once again, I did feel like Yuuki's explanation went on for a bit. And then came the shared "Release Recollection", the feeling of the disappearing Korean/Chinese players certainly did feel soft and gentle, really well imbued with Kirito freeing them from this pain.

PoH versus Kirito was pretty good, though I felt it needed more to it. It kinda got a little confusing right when Kirito cut of PoH's arm. Granted the sharing of the Gigas Cedar's memories was really well done, what with PoH turning into a tree, with a creepy face to top it all off. Cruel, pitiable, but a well-deserved punishment.

Oh Klein. Everything about this scene was relieving. What took the cake was Kii-bou carrying Asuna bridal-style and zooming off. That was rather hilarious. But I never will get what it was that Klein said in the novel.

Back to the Ocean Turtle, things go south. At least Higa-kun's doing alright. My favourite moment in «Lasting» is coming up.

It's unfortunate that they didn't have Kiritard freaking out about what the girls were talking about in the previous night, but I suppose it wouldn't fit the mood of everything at the moment. Unless I'm remembering wrong, it would have been nice to have kept in Asuna scolding Kirito a little for not talking about the whole 200 years deal.

And Alice... her hopes for the sibling dragons was heartwarming, and a little funny. Though it's a shame that they would both prioritise stalling Gabe as much as possible.

Not until Kirito arrives, that is. And he isn't looking very happy either, he looked so cool again. We've really come this far, huh?

Next week: The Night-Sky Blade.

enzer_pyro

It could certainly have been better, I suppose.

The whole deal of having those two familiar faces appear in the opening segment was a nice addition, so was the SAO trailer, which took me back quite a bit. Although it's sad that the convenience store was taken out.

Additions to the opening! Kirito seriously using Incarnation and a beautiful shot of Alice in the Real World. And at long last: Alicization 《Lasting》.

"Now stand up, Asuna, to protect what you love", I was thinking about the track, 'you are not alone' several times this week, its rather nice to be hearing it once more, it's amazing in how it cuts in. I can't recall if there ever were wings in the novel but everything about those literal wings of an angel was beautiful, and 《Mother's Rosario》 was truly a sight to behold, a little over the top but it worked oh so well in the end.

Even if PoH was never really down for the count. That's some donut. As well as a comically large 《Mate Chopper》.

I'm happy to have been able to see Sachi again, even though the context was rather painful. Certainly one of the more traumatic moments of Kirito's journey. But it's also unfortunate that 《The First Day》 wasn't included as well. I do wish that a lot more was done with Kirito reexperiencing his past, I wish it was somewhat more involved, though it likely is accurate to what was portrayed in the novel. It's a real wonder why triumphing over Sugou and Desu Gan were selected but not something like Heathcliff striking down Asuna or hallucinations of the Laughing Coffin members Kirito killed. Everything about Eugeo did hit home though.

I now have a good idea as to how Kirito tore open his chest as such. He sounded so vulnerable throughout all that. But at the end of the day, everyone is there for him.

"Enhance Armament". Now that was really cool. Kirito's Incarnate Shield was really cool, too. What with it being the means in which his right arm was restored, breathtaking.

Despite all that, at least I can say: Welcome back, Kirito-kun.

Next episode: 《Awakening》

enzer_pyro

Eh-kun... Ei-kun! The MVP!!

That was the greatest piece of fight animation ever in all of Alicization's runtime. Eiji's fighting style is stylish as fuck too. He went in as a champ and went out as one. Also it was nice to hear 「longing」 after such a long time, thanks YUNA!

Guess I'm not too uppity about such a massive change, it did unfortunately remove Asuna's spotlight. My memories of all this are rather iffy but I suppose YUNA's effect on the foreign players seem rather believable, there's also their love for Japanese idols that made it twice as believable too.

PoH's massive hateboner for the Japanese isn't too far removed from what was in the novel, there could have been time to dig in to some more of his backstory but I guess this was sufficient.

Leafa's having it real rough. That was amazingly gruesome, A1 really likes to deliver on that front. Her ability's a real painful one but her resolve really shows. I didn't think Sinonon would lose both her legs in such a short time span. I was hoping for something decently fast-paced but y'know, snipers. Her final shot had all the flair I was hoping for from the previous episode and I'm now pretty satisfied.

Hello Yanai. Goodbye Yanai. And don't be such a downer, Higa-kun, you'll manage, I hope.

Blackie-sensei... it's nice to hear your voice again, now begins the 《Awakening》.

I was hoping "I will..." would've played over a lingering shot of Kirito's classroom after he leaves. A bit of a missed opportunity.

Next time: Memories.

Now, Kirito, wake up. My Hero, My Best Friend.
