Let alone that fixed isn't always lower than variable

That's exactly what I said, fixed is usually half a percent more, people think that's too expensive, then whinge when rates go up more than that.

"We want to be allowed to refinance downwards for no penalty but be protected from upwards movements" is an example of "privatising the gains and subsidising the losses". I'm all for the government trying to encourage more and longer fixed rates, but it won't be for free. If you want certainty and insurance against rises then you won't get the cheapest deal on offer.

erala

The less than 5% currently opting for fixed rates.

erala

The option is there, borrowers overwhelmingly take the ~0.5% or so discount to stay on variable. Maybe the gov could put some incentives in place to make fixed rates more attractive but banning variable rates is not what borrowers want.

Ironic that your 100% is pure emotion, not based on any research.

The French are torching cars, Aussie battlers are buying Rangers on credit.

If you picked the 4% hill you would be torn limb from limb

erala

If you want fixed rates your can get them pretty easily for 5 years, but nobody does at the moment cause they all want to gamble on rates going down.

The increase in demand in instant, the increase in productivity only has to accrue at a rate greater than interest payments for it to be worth it for the business.

Is a sunflower lanyard more difficult than backtracking and forcing yourself on first? Is it a reason to demand the government run services over capacity so seats are always free?

The copy paste will continue...

Boom is a bit much, but "completions at their highest level since pre-covid" would to me indicate residential construction is strong.

erala

Cheers, the chart is cool. Interesting they use Labour Force for population estimate.

erala

Zoom out more, what's the 10 year trend?

erala

Would like to see the data too

erala

TIL Albo caused covid

Yeah, but if all the coins you flipped kept landing heads I'd think your coins may not be representative. You've got a selection bias in the pensioners you talk to, that's not a dig, but if you're not curious to why then it is a problem in using your anecdote.

erala

Why do you think you only know people in the 56% not the 44%? That's a pretty heavy bias.

erala

So plenty for the projected 1.3m NOM or 1.7m total growth. Angus will be happy, he can increase his caps.

Damn folks in here don't like hearing that we've got plenty of homes to go round

erala

You underestimate how long I can stay insolvent

erala

Why the official figures don't tell the whole truth

Then the article goes in to discuss the official unemployment numbers as if they're some hidden secret

Blacktown council still own the land for the sportspark too, it's the facilities that matter.

erala

Surely if you're the business owner you could both charge the surcharge and find the cheapest payment provider.

erala

It's a moron posting rage bait
