What a crazy game. I thought the Brewers were going to sweep the Rays. I have 0 skin in the game, but that was fun to watch.

This is exactly how I feel about it. It's OK to be honest about Lamar. He is a great QB. But great QB's can have bad games, bad stretches and it's OK to call that out. This sub will crush Marlon or Andrews or the Defense with ease, but will find every excuse for Lamar. I am a fan of the Ravens first and foremost. If Lamar was gone tomorrow, I will still be a fan of the Ravens. I want the team to be successful and whoever leads them to that success, be it Lamar or someone else, is all that matters to me.

One, yes, this has a lot to do with how the organization handles his injuries. They are never transparent and always downplay it, which leads to fans blaming Lamar for not playing through what is explained as a minor injury. I blamed Harbaugh for that, but it's clearly something the FO has chosen to do and it's a major disservice.
Two, Lamar has a lot of fans on this sub who will never say one bad thing about him and will absolve him any and all wrong doing. He throws an INT, it's someone else's fault. He fumbles, it's someone else's fault. He is great, but he has not shown up when it mattered most in MANY spots.
Three, this video is the exact thing I am talking about in point two. If Lamar is Lambo and needs to be 100% to play, then he is in the wrong sport. It's football, people are banged up on every single play in every single game. He is a grown man, why is there such a need to coddle him? He is the team, this is true and it's why people are very hard on him. I think it's fair to be hard on a franchise player like Lamar.
Four, lastly, if Lamar hears the BS, please, by all means, prove everyone wrong. Come back and play lights out. Fans can and will talk about a player who is in street clothes instead of pads. They will talk about a player who is not performing when they're on the field. It's always been that way and is only far worse today because of the internet. A lot of fans are too young to remember Sports Talk Radio, which was the Twitter of the time and how vicious people were who called in to talk about teams and players. If Lamar or any player is unable to hear the criticism, then again, this is the wrong sport.

They need a song for the start of the 3rd quarter because they're asleep in the second half.
es84
I wonder how Kobe is gonna handle playing the 4.
es84
Do we believe Rapaport now?
es84
Say it with me: FUCK KAWHI
es84
He's played well. Looks more comfortable on offense than last year.
es84
Rains, pours, etc.
es84
I'm absolutely bitter about the Brewers sweeping the Dodgers, but fuck... they're an outstanding team. A bunch of guys who don't seem to be in their head whatsoever. They're just playing. And they're damn good. Scary good.
es84
This defense hasn't been great, but they've done a lot while the offense has been very bad in spots. They held the Bengals to 0 for the 1st half. That's not easy. The offense just didn't do its part and then Minter and Doyle got outcoached and the defense had no steam. I think the priority has to be the OLine. They're not good and the team has to invest in it. They're stacked offensively, but the line is trash. Better line, better offense. Better offense, better defense.
I agree though, Minter needs guys who fit his scheme. Though, as it stands now, he needs to make some of these guys fit or change his scheme.
es84
I don't disagree. They valued names and talent over cohesion and team and it hasn't worked. They're top heavy but don't really have any gamers, for some reason. Rebuilds take time and it could be a dark time.
es84
Man I'm all for being optimistic, but you seriously cannot be this naive can you? The team got blown out by a division rival and showed no fight. That isn't losing a close game, that's being embarrassed. All the things we as a fan base harped on about Harbaugh as a coach hasn't really gone away. The killer instinct isn't here. The offense goes cold. The defense can't get off the field because of it. The coaches are not making adjustments, especially after the half. They're being out coached. It's not good. And Lamar went from an injury that wasn't a big deal to now being out 3 games with 4 looking like a real possibility and maybe even more. 4-3 can easliy 4-4 the way they're playing here. Meanwhile, the divison continues to pull out wins. Missing the playoffs is not the end of the world, but this is an older and expensive team and a rebuild is likely if they cannot find success.
es84
They said DG needed to be traded during game 1. Hot takes are corny and the people who spew them are morons.
es84
3 games. 3. Fucking. Games. Why do people feel the need to be so hyperbolic? Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless did a number on sports. Everything is the sky is falling or the best thing ever. There's no nuance. There's no thought. Just pure uneducated ignorance.
es84
I could only imagine the ass whooping I would've got for that.
es84
How can Doyle seem to have the offense clicking in one half and put a dud the next? And consistently, too. No Lamar or not, you put up 13 points and then nothing. How does he continue to get out coached with adjustments?
es84
No opposing team gear or cheering, really.
es84
A whiney fan base for a whiney team. Fuck OKC. Fuck their fans. Dunn has never been a dirty player. Rich as fuck for OKC to clutch their pearls with Dort as their player. Fuck OKC.
es84
So far they're hanging in with the good teams. Can't ask for much more.
es84
Just putting my tinfoil hat on, do we know if people related to the Ravens ownership have any investment in betting/prediction markets? Why else would they be so secretive with Lamar every time he's hurt.
es84
The coaching staff has no clue how to make adjustments after the half. It's mind boggling. No offense whatsoever.
es84
0 scored this half.
es84
How does this offense just implode? They play well in the first half and completely do nothing in the 2nd half. Some people will blame the defense but this is squarely on the offense.
Why can't the defense carry the load with a back up? Defense sealed the win against Atlanta. They held the Browns to 13 points, the offense, which is heavily invested in, scored 10. They held the Bengals to 0 points in the first half, the offense, which is heavily invested in, never scored again for the rest of the game.
So your expectation is that the defense blank a team since the offense, which again, is heavily invested in, cannot score when needed? But I find it odd that you can find context for Lamar and why he "earns a heavy degree of favor" when the offense doesn't function, but not the same for the defense? Both Lamar and the Defense need the offense to function to be successful.
High Ankle sprain is now the focal point. It started as neither high, nor low and was portrayed as something he would be out a game or two at most. Then it was the reporters didn't know what they were talking about. Then it was three games. Then it was he might not be close to coming back. Now he might be ready to suit up. It's a mismanagement from a PR stand point, which is exactly why people are questioning it.
My point about "being banged up" is the characterization that Lamar is a Lambo and cannot have any dings whatsoever, which you're aware is my point but are making it out to be solely about the high ankle sprain.
Lastly, this sub loved Snoop when they beat Atlanta or when he made the Pro Bowl and suddenly now he's the worst QB in Earth. The comments were about how he's capable of doing a lot of what Lamar does and the team would be fine with him. Now he's worthless. It's hilarious, really.
