It refers to the length of the path that the light takes from the tip of the objective to the last lens of the ocular. Common lengths are 125, 160 and infinity. With the non infinity scopes you can't just add lenses and other stuff in the light path which would extend the length.

All true. Just to avoid possible confusion for OP this scope is 125mm

Wow! Awesome! I have a lot of them in my jar of pond water but never managed to get one in my pipet. They are so fast!

I think that's an Olympus CHA CHB or CHC. I have one and they are great to start with if you can get it for cheap

I've read in some posts that you can create a border with a bit of vaseline. Never tried it myself

They are so docile. If I find a few they are always moving around. Did you add some food to the sample or something? What kind of lighting did you use? Rheinberg?
failuretonotice
Aww they are so cute! Very nice capture. How long did it take for the snail to get out?
failuretonotice
In what kind of sample did you find it? Nice find!

Ik think some kind of vorticella. I;ve seen them a lot attached to larger organisms

Thanks! Do you perhaps have an idea what was coming out of the larva after the parasite exits?

It's taken at the houthaven (wood port) of Amsterdam. Strange mix of industry and office buildings right on the edge of the city center/central station
Wow that was really good!
