The days of knowing the patient and the family and all of the health deets…

He just wanted to be right — aka satisfy his ego.

If he actually wanted to deal with the issue… he could have just enabled the resources of the universe to always keep up with population growth and there would be enough for all.

Brutal and I’m not doing it again. I’m at like 16-17% BF with semi visible abs and women are cool with that. So there’s no point in going lower.

fattsmann

… Also for all those randos that ask about carrying their GF’s.

Chest - focus on upper chest. So incline pressing at a bench angle of 30 degrees or so.

Back - rows or pull ups. Rows might be easier but you definitely want to eventually work up to pull ups as well to get good lats. Good lats also give you the appearance of a narrower waist.

Shoulders - focus on side delts. So lateral shoulder raises either cables or dumbbells.

That’s the general formula for getting a more V shaped body aka what men are seeking. You can also add in arms like biceps curls and tricep extensions.

Very fair distinction. Thanks!

It comes down to ... what entertained you? Was it the waterslides? The dry slide? The zipline? A big Broadway production? because those are exclusive to certain classes of ships.

If it's the guest entertainers (jugglers, comedians, musical acts), dancing, variety of bars/music venues, then those are available on all ships.

If it's meeting people, hanging out in a hot tub, etc. then those are available on all ships.

Are we currently in turmoil and anarchy where one needs to stockpile food, water, etc.?

EDIT: To those that prepped every time this type of topic comes up, what happened to those stockpiles? How did you use them given that society didn't fall apart?

fattsmann

Optimal or maximal? lbs or kgs?

At most 4-6 exercises. I do only DB supersets (3x8-10 each), which compresses the time significantly. The less equipment swapping and set up, the more time saved. My warm ups are also super short. For legs, it's walking up and down the stairs etc. For upper body, it's 1 set press at 40-50% of my working weight and 1 set pull (row). Then I'm locked in.

Yes, I agree. Thomas' survival requires him to be hyper aware and pick up on people's cues, habits, tics, etc.

On a side note, there's a reason why a basic skill that family and couples counseling focuses on is active listening. Because most people are not actually paying attention to each other... particularly loved ones.

I also appreciated that Hawkeye is more realistic in what would happen to a human in those situations. All the explosions etc would definitely kill your hearing. All the exertion and crazy situations would definitely wear you down physically and mentally.

fattsmann

Not my policy. But when you ask about it… it’s to keep the theater from looking like a movie theater … with popcorn all over.

fattsmann

Do you know how much garbage and waste there would be if the popcorn, etc. was free? Even with the 2.50 in the theaters, there's so much waste. It's not about nickel and diming...

What I find interesting is that generally, beauty is tied to femininity and hence most women in the world do something about it (even just simple jewelry and decorations). If strength is tied to masculinity, why don’t more men focus on strength and fitness?

The hard data show that while 50-60% of Western men claim to exercise, when trackers or accelerometers are used, only 5-10% actually exercise.

Me? I never owned a car until I got here. I spent a quarter of my life in NYC on mass transit. It was basically my third home (summing up all the time from grade school though adult life).

fattsmann

No. Realistic is the idea of improving bus lanes that others have thrown around. Low(ish) cost, high impact. And possible in the current economic and political environment. And that sets the foundation for other ideas as well.

If it’s Botox and fillers, most plastic surgeons do not do those procedures. Cosmetic dermatologists or trained NP’s/RN’s are often the main providers of those.

From TriMet's own report:

On the other side, our revenue is falling behind cost increases. The rise in remote work after the pandemic is keeping riders from returning, meaning less money coming in from fares. The office vacancy rate across the region and in Downtown Portland, the hub of our transit system, remains near a historic high and foot traffic in the central city during weekdays remains well below 2019 levels. That reduced worker presence directly affects our transit ridership and fare revenue.

Adding to that is payroll tax revenue growth lagging behind cost increases due to the current economic climate in the Portland metro area and the state of Oregon. The state’s unemployment rate is the third highest in the nation. Other state and federal funding is also coming in under what we have forecasted.

TriMet had worked with the Oregon Legislature to include an increase in transit funding as part of an expected comprehensive transportation funding package during the 2025 regular session. While a temporary, two-year increase of 0.1% in the employee payroll tax that funds transit was included in the package passed during a special session in September 2025, failed in a public vote in May 2026.

While I wish it were so easy to just double the employer-contributed aspect of the tax, the current financial and political environment says that it's not a tenable solution. Hence, we would need a new mechanism since the economy of Oregon as a whole and the appetite of voters is not there.

Hence I was pointing to corporate revenue streams. Portlanders don't seem to care as much if big businesses are taxed more or charged more fees. And if the market opportunity is there, big businesses don't care either (look at NYC, which has some punishing payroll and corporate taxes, but the business opportunity is too big to refuse). We cannot levy a sales tax (which San Diego and other cities use).

And since we don't have enough farebox capture like other systems (San Diego is like 30%... HK is 100%+ which is incredible) and we don't have another financing tool... we are dead in the water until someone can come up with an alternative. And then point is why? For a city like NYC, when mass transit comes to a halt, companies are losing millions if not billions of dollars a day. When we have a snow day in Portland and business comes to a halt... the economic impact is... ??? So there's no motivating factor other than the public good when it comes to transit.

And in the US, "private good" is what moves the needle sadly.

fattsmann

So how would an expansion and the operations be funded? Or are you fixated on only one point that I brought up? Because if so... you are having your own conversation and not one with me.

fattsmann

EDIT: Yes, you are exactly right about that.

Some grant tremendous size changes (aka Abomination), aggression changes (Walker), and endurance/healing (Bucky... the man gets his ass beat repeatedly throughout and he keeps getting up).

She should do whatever makes her happy. It's her goal not anyone else's.

I could be wrong, but I think the MCU and comics lore is that the original serum given to Steve was more potent (or the interaction of the serum with the Vita-rays). Hence there are so many people trying to recreate it, but those versions are not as potent.

Taking milk, separating it into curds and whey is processing. Making cheese is processing. Taking the whey and then removing all the water and acids, etc. to create protein powder is processing. Now the issue at hand is.... are there any additional additives/chemicals.

They are processed, but the additional additives will determine if it's "ultra" processed. If there are stabilizers, artificial flavorings, etc. then it moves closer to the ultra processed category. It's those additional chemicals (like look at a package of white bread) that can cause issues.

What kind of plastic surgery? Fillers or major restructuring?
