Are you a Nigerian prince by any chance?

The thing is there's like a dozen different reasons people dislike AI, and all of them draw the line in slightly different places. Like if your problem with AI content is just low quality, you'll be fine with much more uses of AI than if you're worried about resource usage or plagiarism.

fghjconner

I mean it's the same argument made against labeling GMO food: that the label just encourages fear mongering. Of course, AI tends to have a much greater impact on the quality of the finished product, so the logic is questionable at best.

You're spot on:

That's a weird take. Sauron lost the ability to take a "fair" form after the destruction of numenor, and yet clearly takes physical form after that. Now, that form was destroyed when he lost the ring, but Tolkien's letters make it clear that he could still have regained physical form (and heavily imply that he did):

It is mythologically supposed that when this shape was 'real', that is a physical actuality in the physical world and not a vision transferred from mind to mind, it took some time to build up. It was then destructible like other physical organisms. But that of course did not destroy the spirit, nor dismiss it from the world to which it was bound until the end. After the battle with Gilgalad and Elendil, Sauron took a long while to re-build, longer than he had done after the Downfall of Númenor

Nineteen years, actually. That comic came out in 2007.

FYI, reddit decided your numbers were a list and helpfully made them 1 and 2

fghjconner

I mean you could just leave on the other account before clearing the raid right? Still boosts the raid scaling though, so I doubt anyone would seriously abuse it.

Man, I'm way more pro AI than most of reddit, but maybe don't try to support your point with an image where the AI can't even decide if the pencil is in front of or behind his hat.

Relavent XKCD (alt text)

fghjconner

So if it was priced at $60 and went on sale for 40% off, you'd buy it?

fghjconner

I like the joke but feel like it should be stronger

fghjconner

Look, if you're concerned, just make it stop failing at 94 agility.

fghjconner

Am I the only one who thinks the bottom ones look cartoonish and over the top?

fghjconner

Yeah, I assume you have to tilt it so that the sun passes perfectly around the axis of the cylinder, but as long as you do that it should work at any latitude/season.

fghjconner

I mean I wouldn't call it easy, but it's not that hard to make either. You just need the angle the sun is at at each time, and then you punch holes through the cylinder at that angle in the pattern of the numbers. The idea itself is genius, but anyone with a bit of cad experience and a 3d printer should be able to put one together.

fghjconner

Actually, I think the loops might be more deadly. Or at least more damaging, since both are hilariously lethal. The stop has theoretically higher g-forces, but in practice the riders are going to be ripped straight out of their restraints. Yeah, they'd get cut into pieces in the process, but that's still "better" than becoming a puddle of red paste in the floorboard.

fghjconner

I mean, that's not a completely inaccurate description of iron oxide.

fghjconner

I mean yes, because somebody fucking up like this is far more likely than actually brute forcing a correctly generated key.

fghjconner

Sure, but a few thousand people doing solo runs for the achievement of it aren't going to move the needle on venator bow costs.

fghjconner

Even the best hardcore ironmen die reasonably often. If you're dying once a year and have over 200m in the bank, it's actually cheaper to bond up an alt than to lose your stuff. And that's not taking into account that hardcore gp will be more valuable than main world gp.

fghjconner

Disappointing not to see this polled. Beyond just the principal of the thing, the way banks are being handled isn't ideal. Wiping banks on death just incentivizes people making bank alts to hold all of their valuables, giving a major advantage to players willing to shell out for a second membership.

fghjconner

No, even once is comparable to winning the lottery many times in a row.

fghjconner

What lie were they caught in? They obviously fucked up but I haven't seen evidence of them lying about anything.
