Recent Accomplishments:
- Reduced number of client crash reports by over 50%!

Your queue should advance rapidly every 20 minutes as that's how often people crash and a new spot becomes available.
fiddlybitz
Sometimes it's even worse than that. I've had crashes before as soon as I start a game and take a WP. I can't wait to start waiting!

How do you not know “merry go round”?

It’s spelled C A T.

That’s the problem. There’s a persistent setting somewhere that I don’t think you have any access to. If you ever had a game pad configured, the game seems to go looking for it and will poll periodically until that bit of logic is able to successfully find a game pad. The behavior you would see here is smooth FPS for a few seconds followed by maybe a half second pause and then repeat until the game finds the controller it’s looking for.
Try turning your game pad on.

Reisenjima augments are all or nothing on a single augmentation attempt. You can’t pick some from a taupe augment and some from a fern or anything like that in the way that you can with Alluvion Skirmish gear.
There are 5 different “slots” for augments that may or may not appear. If a slot does appear, the chosen stats will be random. For a chosen stat, the value will be random. The type of stone you use (Fern/Taupe/Pellucid) will each force a different slot to appear:
Fern - special stats like Weapon Skill Damage
Taupe - Attributes like STR, DEX
Pellucid - Accuracy / Attack
The max possible value for a chosen stat is increased based on the stone you use with the forced slot statistics having a higher potential. So using Taupe, for example will increase will force a basic attribute like STR to appear (you can’t control which one) and also increase the possible max from 10 to 15 (lower values are still possible).

For other non-DW DDs, getting STP up to a certain threshold for an x-hit build trumps getting more multi-attack. Is this not true for WAR?

The XIVision data file mods are very useful for their annotated in game maps. I recommend installing that.

I hadn’t heard of Valheim before and now I’m glad you left this comment. I agree with all your sentiments; I don’t think it would work very well in FFXI, for a lot of reasons, but I’ve been looking (not very hard) for a game like Valheim for a long time.

That’s how I remember XIV too though. I can’t remember how many times during ARR, I would react to some boss mechanic well ahead of time clearly being outside the Telegraph circle but, “game says no.” This was actually a bigger problem in 14 than any issues I’ve had with latency in 11.

In think there can be a happy medium somewhere. A lot of the benefit of the equip sets concept in XI is in reacting to different situations which can frequently boil down to “what do I need for this particular encounter?” There’s a place in the world for an MMO that has lots of horizontal gearing where you think through an encounter and being a long a specific load out to make ends meet for that encounter. “This boss takes extra high crit damage and dodges a lot, need to max out accuracy and crit rate.” There have been other fun MMOs with similar concepts. Guild Wars 1 was even more extreme where you would change your entire skill load out for specific encounters. FFXI without in-combat gear swapping could be like that with the equipment. I would still enjoy it.

Regional vendors only sell goods when their nation controls that region (in this case, Zulkheim).
The other San d’Orian vendor only sells cabbages when Sandy is in 1st or 2nd place in conquest. I’m guessing that sandy is in 3rd and doesn’t have conquest over Zulkheim right now. See who has Zulkheim and go to their vendor.

Its <1% away from capped haste when sung with Marcato. And if you’re going to be splitting hairs over that, then you’re going to be in a party with Honor March and 4 songs anyway which goes right by to my point that supports are OP. Getting to haste cap with 1 song is still crazy strong and allows a young bard more flexibility in their other 2 songs until they get honor March and the 4 song harp.

Look at https://www.bg-wiki.com/images/5/5b/GEO_Cheat_Sheet.png.
With Blaze of Glory and Ecliptic Attrition plus an Idris (which is the cheapest REMA to make once you have the time gated coalitionsout of the way), your buffs and debuffs can reach astounding heights:
attack +108%
defense -73%
M.def -79 (%)
That defense debuff in particular is a MASSIVE swing I damage potential to the tune of being able to cap the attack/defense ratio for a lot of content with just that one spell. And magic defense isn’t too far behind but the formula is more complicated.
An argument can be made for geo needing this level of potency, because that’s pretty much all they bring to the table. But the numbers are still insane to the degree that 2 spells is all they need to earn a spot in a party.
To be fair to Geo, though... all the supports are very OP. Bard with gjallarhorn can cap magical haste with a single buff and still have 2 or 3 more slots for other buffs. They can more easily apply different buffs to different groups, and their potential for manipulating accuracy goes beyond what Geo can accomplish. When paired with a geo’s dizzyingly high attack percent buffs, bards baseline attack bonus soars.
Corsair gets some of the most unique buffs in the game. With a single ability they can produce more STP for the entire party than most characters can practically get with ALL their gear combined. With corsair’s roll, they can improve the efficacy of a JP/CP party by up to 45%. And they have the ONLY means of buffing per parties. And then they can still do some tremendous damage.
Any one of these three supports will single handedly outperform a DD in overall contribution to group damage output. Stacking them gets even more nutty.

I made some of these same / similar modifications. I have the intent to resume making tweaks to it in the future, like finding some default icons for various spells and JAs, modifying the default WS icons to show skillchain properties, integrate the skillchains addon to do highlighting of spells and WS during skillchain windows, expanding upon the original author’s concept of “stances” that he used for avatars (which I changed to be based on the active pet rather than when using a specific macro). My thought is to make it somewhat like WoW’s warrior stances or Druid forms so the hot bar changes under certain conditions like when I am in a certain gear swap set or when a certain buff is active. I also have some vague ideas about button highlighting when pressing the attached modifier key (eg, alt will highlight the appropriate row) and maybe attaching personal buff durations to the keys somehow so you have another option other than timers to monitor buffs.
Of course the road to hell is paved with good intentions and I work 60 hours a week, so until I can get some new people on boarded at work, I won’t have much time to make progress. You can find what I have already changed on the list of forks from the original repo. I haven’t merged it to main yet, there’s a feature/avatarsomething branch.

Aliases are basically named macros and the syntax is like:
alias <name> <command>
So if you have an alias like this:
alias helloWorld /party “Hello World”
Then when you send the Windower command “helloWorld” it will execute the party chat command. Apologies if the syntax on any of this is off, I’m not on my computer.
So when I set the “d” command to cast dia, it’s just a shorthand (alias) for casting the dia spell and waiting some period of time.
The last two commands are just the same
If I do an alias like:
alias d2 d;d;
It is just going to send the “d” command 2 times in sequence. The d command will cast dia and wait 3 seconds.
So you can stack it up. If “d5” sends “d” 5 times and “d25” sends “d5” 5 times, then it will effectively send the “d” command 25 times. You can keep going however many times you want. And you can throw other commands in there wherever you feel like it. For instance, if you determine that you can cast a spell 100 times before running out of mana, then you can make a “spellonehundred” alias and have it call “s25” 5 times followed by a “rest” alias that will just /heal and wait 120 seconds or something like that. the name and numbers were arbitrarily picked by me.

Just follow the Domain Invasion train and get your skill ups spamming spells or auto attacking those while you also get beads.
For combat, summon a healer, koru, ulmia and Joachim for max Haste.
For enfeebling, spam dia.
For dark magic, spam bio.
For elemental magic, spam stone.
For enhancing, healing, summoning, geomancy, blue, use a skillup gear swap file to automate it unless you’re a purist or concerned about being reported.
And on that note about automation, you can also automate the offensive magic categories by summoning a bunch of support only Trusts, engaging an enemy and facing away, then spamming the same spell over and over. Do it in Escha ru’aun for the bonuses you (may) have to things like autorefresh. Use the same three spells listed above. set up a set of aliases in Windower like
alias d input dia; wait 3
alias d5 d;d;d;d;d
alias d25 d5;d5;d5;d5;d5;
keep going as far as you want and you’ll quickly get to d1000 which takes almost an hour to execute. Use unalias d to cancel.

You’re right, it was by design. But it wasn’t always like this. It’s only become a major DPS loss in ilvl era where we build TP in under 5 seconds due to maximum buffs and capped haste / DW. I’d actually prefer they slow it down a little bit and ember back into the realm of tactical combat rather than action combat. But if it is the at it is, it’s a shame that things like dancer steps (for a Subjob) are actually detrimental to your goal more often than not.
My very last death on the original Diablo 2: LOD was my level 98 HC Sorceress. She died to a pack of something ridiculous like extra fast, extra strong, fanatic undead stygian dolls on the way to Mephisto for, "One last run."
One last run indeed.
