I think that taboo in turn makes the words more offensive when they are used

Y el mexicano nace donde se le dé la chingada gana

It's not just about the method but the type of food prepared.

And anyway, you don't have to invent the food for it to be part of your cuisine. Falafel was invented in Egypt but it's also a part of these cuisines: Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian, Lebanese, Israeli, and even Greek and Turkish to an extent.

Idk if others would agree but some of the bio words seem odd. Like you can just use more normal words instead of buzzwords.

For example:
- intentionality -> sense of purpose
- generosity of spirit -> generosity
- moral orientation -> kindness

The originals just read as trying too hard to sound fancy or intellectual.

I also would add English to your languages, since some people may filter by language and you want to show up there.

fizzile

It only is first person where it doesn't work well but people use it all the time as a verb. "Me sabe a sal" is "it tastes salty to me" for example

fizzile

It's not the "man" part that's different. The "wo" is pronounced differently in most dialects

fizzile

You say obviously, but there's really no reason to think so. All langauge has rules anyway. Standard English and AAVE both have rules

fizzile

Maybe you don't see them that way but I'm fairly sure English slurs, like f*ggot or n word, are much more offensive. I literally can't even type the n word here. Not just because reddit won't let me but because writing it feels racist and offensive.

fizzile

I figured lol I have had that too when giving the same explanation you did. I need to swap back to the bilingual keyboard cuz right now I have to switch between English and Spanish which is terrible for Spanglish lol

fizzile

And when Hebrew was revived, people created a lot of words that were "missing" based on the arabic equivalents.

fizzile

It is feminine and that's ok. Being feminine or doing feminine things is okay. Nothing wrong with it.

fizzile

I'm not convinced Argentina is any more racist than their fellow Latin American countries.

fizzile

This is what I wanted to say. Sure it is offensive but in English slurs are on another level of offensiveness. You can't even say the word in any context without it being offensive.

fizzile

América if you wanna make it clearer that it's a different language.

It's not just a Latin American thing either tho.

fizzile

That's part of it but definitely not the full story. It completely ignores the influences of Irish English and Scottish English, for example. Additionally, education isn't required to learn a language to complete fluency. Being taught a specific version of the language doesn't make it better than the version someone may have learned in their community

We can ask the same question from a European perspective. What makes RP the standard and makes Irish and Scottish English incorrect, non standard, or uneducated?

fizzile

Interestingly, the habitual be is most likely to have originated in southwest England or Scottish/Irish English. Many grammatical features of AAVE actually come straight from Scottish and Irish English.

fizzile

That's not true at all. AAVE was did not simply deviate from standard English. Put simply, both standard English and AAVE diverged, and then it was arbitrarily decided what dialect was the "educated" one.

fizzile

This shows a deep misunderstanding of how langauge works

fizzile

That's fair. I just feel that since obeteum is lost to the concurrence, it doesn't make sense that one city is still controlled by a human, and that the concurrence aren't trying to take over the city.

So I think everything is concurrence controlled and it's essentially a play to convince vis to kill ka, since he's the only one who can do it, since only a synchronous can break through the gold humming stuff that protects ka

fizzile

And Americans complain about America all the fucking time. Literally all the time. We complain about healthcare costs, education costs, lack of vacation days, etc.

Complaining doesn't mean there can't also be a superiority complex.

fizzile

Yeah it is delusional, we are not the only place where people keep coming. European also has a ton of legal immigration and illegal immigration as well. Not to mention many countries outside of Europe too

fizzile

Tbh I thought Ka wasn't the one controlling duat but that he had simply imprisoned himself so that the concurrence couldn't kill him. I think all the iiuncti in duat were concurrence, and they made it seem like ka was a god controlling the city.

fizzile

But Europeans do feel superiority as a continent, no? We don't have continental identity in north America but you guys do in Europe with the EU and stuff.

You've got a lot of good stuff over there, not saying the superiority complex isn't understandable, but sometimes you guys seem to take it a little far online lol.

fizzile

Gooner me suena a alguien adicto al porno o algo por ese estilo. Pajero también significa eso??

I didn't mean to imply that "jerk-off" is wrong. I just was providing context to the word and reasoning for why OP couldn't think of a translation. Because I'm a native speaker and I couldn't even think of one, I had to look it up.

"Jerk-off" sounds unusual to me the same way "wanker" does. And I only mentioned young people don't use them because I don't know what older people do. All I know is that it sounds unusual to me, and I am a young-ish person.
