It was a silicone mat, some must have gotten stuck underneath after a spill

Once picked n' plucked into the configuration I desired, I sprayed the remaining exposed surfaces with plastidip.

Still not having bill pay features after all this time is crazy, it's a blocking issue for my partner and I fully adopting Wealthfront.

fofosfederation

Can you share your compose config? I've been banging my head trying to get this to work, for some reason tailscale still uses the default local network instead of being routed through gluetun.

I work in production- you are running totally different tech stacks most of the time for audio verse visual, connected to totally different IO. It's just better to be disconnected so your performance, IO, and ability to just restart without borking other departments are all separate.

In high end setups you will of course run redundancy, just per department.

Shit has to keep working when the internet is down.

Don't own house cable.

Yes you can use them as a second mirrored vdev. Some reads and writes would be faster, based on how the data ends up getting striped.

Unless you care about noise that is.

Heat pump water heaters require installation in locations that remain in the 40º–90ºF (4.4º–32.2ºC) range year-round and provide at least 1,000 cubic feet (28.3 cubic meters) of air space around the water heater. Air passing over the evaporator can be exhausted to the room or outdoors.

Heatpumps are great where viable, but water heating is a stretch for most places.

fofosfederation

A water heater is like 3500w. Prioritize savings in the right places.

Lights just cost so little to run, it's not worth inconveniencing people at all.

You'd save so much more and piss people off so much less if you just had some indicator lights by appliances saying it's expensive, consider using later.

Came here to say this. I have a great local backup system, but holy shit I'm not willing to risk losing everything if my apartment burns down.

fofosfederation

Backblaze. As long as they're on external disks, backblaze will back them up for the same low cost.

100%. I guess some people want the epic perfectly timed story and that's more important, but it just feels so fake and unearned to me that it doesn't work.

The logic of how the subnet works on TrueNAS is a bit special because to connect to your apps when you are away from home, you do not use the Tailscale IP address of your TrueNAS server. You must use the local IP address of your TrueNAS server. It is extremely counterintuitive.

I guess it may depend on how you set it up, but this is definitely not inherently the case. I have never had issues with this.

fofosfederation

You can setup TrueNAS and use projectsend pretty easily. TrueNAS will scale better and be more fault tolerant than Synology.

Self hosting business critical infrastructure is a big issue, and you should hire an IT guy to make these recommendations and have a service agreement with him so any downtime can be minimized.

People who make up the combat are the most infuriating to play with.

I am 90% sure the DM is not tracking damage. The monsters always seem to only crit the Barbarian and do massive damage that would instakill everyone else. There is zero point using a powerful spell unless it is on a mook or the end of combat anyway because the spell will fail (unless the party is in a dire state then it will always succeed).

Don't fucking lie to me, it takes away 100% of agency and verisimilitude.

Different players want different things. Sounds like this is the wishy washy feels based game you want, and that's great, and it doesn't seem like it's what the barbarian wants, that's fine too, he should find a different game.

The tailscale remote access subnet feature is to talk to other devices on the same subnet as the NAS. Like talk to your desktop via your NAS while away. It's not required at all to talk to the services running on your NAS.

If you can reach the service via localIP:80 when home, you should be able to reach it via tailscaleIP:80 from anywhere.

Not worth the hassle, especially to integrate an (almost certainly) old disk that will die in a couple of years anyway. 4TB is just so little space. Use the 16TB mirror, and then buy another when more space is needed.

fofosfederation

If the data is important you bet your ass I want it stored in a fault tolerant way.

You could add a 4TB disk in another mirror, but I think 4TB is just such an irrelevantly small amount of space in 2024 it just isn't worth the hassle. And the disk is probably old, so will die in a couple of years anyway. Use the 16TB mirror, and then buy another 2 16TB disks when you run out of space.

fofosfederation

No cache.

Mirror your 2x 16TBs.

Your 4 TB is useless.

This brother isn't very technical.
